Capcom cuts content (local co-op) from PC version of Revelations 2.

Response now Thanks to Dusk Golem for the heads up.

The Capcom guy just responded to it, his response is... Interesting.

"I don't have any info on the local coop/split screen, but I've alerted our PR and dev folks if there's any info on it. I'll be sure to let you know as soon as I have information.

Just to be clear though, the game will eventually support online coop; it just won't be ready for Episode One. Same goes for the console versions."

Wonder what's going on.

Sounds like he's just talking about raid mode online co-op which we already know about.

Inexcusable. Is there something technical preventing this because this seems like a big shaft for coop players. Powerful PC HW should be able to do what consoles are enabled to do.

Why isn't there even online coop? Like, all of the recent REs have had that, but the page indicates it doesn't exist for this one.

This is important for the console version, but seriously, who's going to play this game local coop on a computer screen?

I don't see this as a big deal.

Me and my friends constantly hook up a Laptop and play some Co-Op PC Games, hell im more annoyed there isn't more available.

Kind of sitting here and wonder what would even be a satisfactory answer to this. The PC isn't powerful enough isn't going to fly obviously. Cutting because of assumed lack of interest is just odd. I would figure it's more work to cut the mode out than to just leave it there.

I'm hoping that either they decide to patch us in the Split Screen or they announce campaign online for everyone. To at least be a option for PC. I'm expecting a "sorry" and nothing else however if that.

Have you heard of a television?

Anyway, didn't Ubisoft do this with Splinter Cell: Blacklist? I seem to remember neither the Wii U or PC versions had local co-op.

I just asked about this yesterday in the OT. Why do developers do this shit? PC gaming is becoming a lot more prominent in the living room.

Where have you been? People aren't exclusively playing PC games on their computer monitors anymore.

Shame. Thanks for that link. Me and my friend would be playing this offline as that is what most of my time is on my new PC these days so this puts a big damper on that plan.

Capcom's Steam rep says he's passed on concerns to the developers, so there may be good news yet.

Has anyone ever actually given a reason to why developers cut splitscreen in PC? I understand it has never been as popular as in consoles but why even bother to cut it, is supporting two controllers difficult or something?

Let's hope so. It seems like an easy thing to add and we are getting RE5 Gold so they clearly do care about PC owners (at least somewhat).

In a world where Croteam let you play Serious Sam in split-screen using multiple keyboard and mice there's no excuse to not have at least split-screen on PC.

Can someone tell me, can I play story online in co-op with other player, like it was in RE5/6 or is online for raid mode only?

Raid only and that functionality for online isn't until the end of March

For me, absence of online co-op is much bigger deal than local co-op. Also people who make this a huge deal for PC, are minority. I would say they are not even 0.5% of total PC playerbase, as in people who want local one screen co-op.

I tell you what, the last game I played in local offline co-op on PC was Colin McRay Rally 2, that was I think more than 12 years ago.

The only Japanese developer currently putting games out on PC that I can think of that I honestly even like is Kojima's division of Konami. Everyone else just seems really ignorant like they live on another planet. In the information age where we have the ability to communicate like never before, it astounds me how oblivious some of these developers seem to be regarding putting games on the PC.

I guess this is more of a side-note to the topic. The topic just got me thinking about this.

Probably $$$ from people buying it again to play together.

Pretty scummy, local co-op have been the best thing about RE games since 5. Did 5 and 6 have local co-op on PC? Surprised considering PC ports of Capcom games are pretty good, excluding SFIV's steam port.

I wonder if people make enough noise if they'll put it back

Because hell, if RE6 has offline co-op on PC than this is just terrible

OMG will RE5:Gold PC have offline co-op too? Would be a dream!

They really should have made this clearer sooner. I get why local co-op gets nixed on PC, it's not saying it until launch that's obnoxious, especially when doing preorders already.

Can you LAN with Steam's offline mode? It doesn't excuse the lack of split screen but it's the better option for me personally.

It sucks but almost every developer does this. Borderlands and Kane and Lynch for example. These games are worthless without coop.

I thought it wasn't a technical issue, but it seems to be the case.

Some major dips in some areas on PC for some users.

They cut co-op on PC to avoid a customer disaster.

It seems like such a senseless decision. This mode has already been programmed into the game by the dev team, why remove it?

Still think Capcom needs to make right at least with a apology of sorts since this was given at the last second. Plus if you preordered else where and keys were already given not like you can ask for a refund if split screen was something you wanted.

I hope like RE5, someone can mod it in since the files to do so are probably just sitting there.
