EA and Visceral Games Announce Battlefield Hardline Premium

"Legendary Status - Provides replayability of the entire progression system."

So like Ultra Prestige Mode. No thanks, things are a big enough pain to unlock and upgrade with all the attachments already, I wouldn't want to start over just to get a special embalm or dog tag or whatever.

Cool that they have that option for those that want the challenge though.

I am looking forward to Hardline, but I don't see myself actively playing into Fall 2015/Early 2016. BF premium has been really good in the past.

"Legendary Status - Provides replayability of the entire progression system."
I guess they decided to scrap the extra pointless 100 ranks and just go with prestiging.

I think BF4 is at 150 ranks right now. Each one after 100 is basically a prestige. It takes the same amount of points to get from 1 to 100 to get from 100 to 101 (I think, I may be wrong).

I don't like it, I don't mind paying 60 for a great game, playing for a while and then hearing that there's going to be some DLC(that better be good, I loved the Vietnam one).

Knowing that I need to spend 110 bucks to get the full experience before the game might be the "same thing" for some, but it isn't for me. Anyways, I don't and will never install Origin on my PC so at the end of the day they won't see my money.

Again, this really just sounds like semantics. You're saying that this:

"Publisher announces full game but doesn't announce payment plan for DLC until closer to DLC release date"

is better than

"Publisher announces full game and announces payment plan for DLC that is far from DLC release date"

All they're doing is announcing planned content/price ahead of time. The game is no less "complete" either way, it's just how you're perceiving it. In either situation, it's not content they could have packaged into the base game, although that MAY not apply with Day 1 DLC.

If you think that's shady, last time I played BF3, I got kicked from a game after 15 minutes because I wasn't premium. That was the last time I'll ever play a BF game.

How did this happen? Was it a private server or an official one? What was the given reason? Were you somehow playing on a premium map? Did the server switch to a map that you didn't have access to?

I have NEVER heard of someone being kicked from a server because "you don't have premium".

So without premium there is no weapon stats?

Yeah, not sure WTF the deal with that is. Hardline has Battlelog, so I can't imagine they'd lock basic stat info behind a paywall. If so, yeah, that's suuuuper fucked up.

140 now. And not really. But i get what you mean. Problem is. Is that i prefer to see my orginal rank going up instead of a reset rank and weapons.. I never want to prestige, Not back in the day and not last year with Titanfall. :)

While I actually got more than my money's worth out of BF4 Premium I'm probably going to pass on this unless I end up loving the game and it has a strong enough community to make getting the DLC worth it.

It always shocks me to see what multiplayer focused consumers are willing to pay for their games. That's the price of a new game for some DLC that won't launch for months and a few additional perks.

people who are buying this: can you honestly explain why you feel its a good value?

Cause im lost.

I've played BF4 for 528 hours and I still play that game regularly.

I've spent anywhere from 40-100 hours on each DLC, and I use the DLC weapons a lot.

110 dollars for 500+ hours of entertainment.

Now take inFamous last year, I paid $60 for that and got maybe 15 hours of entertainment from it.

Battlefield has ruined buying most $60 single player focused games for me.

I'm pretty sure it was an official server, the message was something along the lines of I've been kicked so a player who bought premium could join. It was like what happens with reserved slots on community-run TF2 servers or something, except seemed to be built-in to the game.

This is why I didn't bought BF4. I've played the Hardline beta and didn't like, so now I have even more reasons to avoid this game.

No that's crazy lol.

100-120 takes the same time it takes 1-100 and 120-130 / 130-140 takes about the same time as 1-100. So if anything 100-140 is like getting to Prestige 4.

So not exactly a prestige system, specially since you don't lose your unlocks either.

Yea, I don't believe that. That never happens, like never. Not on official servers.

Maybe a crappy admin on a private server kicked you and you're remembering things wrong.

What the actual fuck. Disgusting, worse than Comcast, trying to spread this shit. Instant no-buy, I'll just pick up BF4 used.

A few companies play this game with season passes or whatever. This definitely isn't the first time for EA, or even for Battlefield.

I agree with you, BTW.

I can't believe after the issues they had with Battlefield 4 for the first 6 months and that this game is basically a glorified expansion they still expect people to pay $60-$70 for the game and $50 for the season pass. People that buy into this entire package day one are very naive and are sending a terrible message to publishers. Have fun, but I'll stick with BF4 for the next year.

Ditto, I'm going to return for battle front

Premium for BF4 was worth it for me, because I still play it today.

But this is a joke. I wish the whole DLC thing did not exist like this. It may keep the game fresh over the course of the year, but it is a slight kick in the butt.

Whatever. I am broke thank god, and will not be getting premium for this game.

The thing is, even if you have Premium, you still use a queue of sorts. It doesn't automatically just make a spot for you by kicking another player. I have Premium and have still sat in the queue for 5-10 minutes on busy servers, because multiple Premium players are trying to join it. If a player got kicked out, I theoretically shouldn't have to wait long, if at all.

Not sure what happened with you, TBH, but it's the first I've heard of it.

Not falling for this scam again EA.
I know it isn't DICE this time, but they are still part of EA.

Edit:

"Legendary Status - Provides replayability of the entire progression system."

LOLOLOLOL...Why?
Some people have too much time on their hands.

The thing that actually really irks me about this is the game features that feel so much like they should be an integral part of the game (masks, weapon customization) are sitting behind this paywall.

I think I'll take this opportunity to pick up the PS4 version of Payday 2.

I guess it's possible that there is a troll admin out there somewhere trying to make people waste money on premium with bogus kick messages?

What you are saying doesn't happen tho. I've always had to sit in queue sometimes as long as 20-30 minutes when the match is done and someone leaves, to get in as Premium.

The system doesn't kick non premiums from servers so that premiums can get in, that simply doesn't happen.

The only other thing that I can think of is that you entered a mixed map server and the next map on the rotation had a DLC map you didn't own.

Why are people alright with buying from companies that announce DLC before the game is even out? It's a straight scam.
Why are people alright with generalizing when they don't know what they are talking about? It's straight ignorance.

They've got a plan for DLC. So what? Everyone does, they just announce it early.

Well, this is ironic, considering Payday 2 had around 20 different DLC packs, each costing $5-7, containing a mix of weapons, maps AND cosmetic items/customization.

Why are people alright with buying from companies that announce DLC before the game is even out? It's a straight scam.

How is it a scam? If all of this content were done and ready to ship at time of launch, you could make an argument for a scam.

But literally all they're doing is announcing their plans for DLC and putting a price to it. Where's the scam? A scam would be cutting content from the base game and repackaging it into Premium. Where is the evidence they are doing that?

How is this any different from back in the day, when expansion packs would be announced after launch? You really think they suddenly up and thought, "Well, the game is launched--now let's make an expansion pack!" I can assure you that those packs were probably on the roadmap 6 months before launch, if not earlier.

Why are the same 3-4 guys defending EA's DLC scam all the time? Makes me wonder if they're being paid by EA to do so.

This will be the first battlefield game that I don't jump on Premium immediately. Just haven't liked the series as much as I used to :(

Hmm, in a bit of a pickle with hardline. We lost support for BF4 pretty quick because of the shoddy launch, leaving only a few of us playing it. Now it looks as though quite a few will be picking hardline up after the beta. Bit annoying. Ideally I wouldn't buy another FPS but it's the only time you can get friends together on the same game.

I don't like the way each game requires seperate premium. They should run a premium subscription for like £12 a year instead. You opt out after a year you lose the content. Simple.

Damn it EA. This is not how you're supposed to handle your second tier Battlefield games. How quickly you forgot Bad Company 2.

I have doubts that Hardline will be supported as well as BF4 has, which makes a premium edition far, far less enticing. This is just going to sour people on Battlefront's inevitable Premium edition. 2 BF-related shooters in 1 year, both with premium editions? REALLY EA?
