lame but expected. Good thing there are a ton of other titles hitting this year.
Don't GOTY winners typically release around the end of the year? They have more hype then.Well, I think this will be better choice for them. Even though the game looks good, I don't it would have the chance to stand against so many great games that will be out this year. U4 could have been buried under the GOTY winners AKA Arkham Knight, Phantom Pain, Bloodborne, etc.
this is awful news.
i'm a huge fan of the franchise, but my hype has been seriously deflated. and at this point, I won't be the least bit of surprised if "Spring 2016" becomes "Fall 2016", because clearly the game will will always be able to use more dev time, but moreso that they might actually be considered in GOTY awards.
and now the question becomes.... why? i refuse to believe Amy Hennig and Justin Richmond's work on U4 was that uncharacteristically bad that they had to scorch earth and do a major rework of the game due to quality control. it seems much more likely it was done out of ego and spite. like, this is now Druckmann and Straley's baby, and they want to own it completely. And sure, it will be great, but really... I can't shake the feeling of selfishness and pettiness winning out over shipping the game on time as it was intended. Wellp, you guys better make it worth it to the fans. Damn worth it. Expectations will be so high on this game.

Baseless? They even recast the actor for Sam Drake dude. There's a lot going on there. I don't blame them for wanting to make it theirs, I'm just saying they had better make it all worth it.There's a whole lot of baseless assumptions in this post.

There's a lot to be considered here.did you forget that TLOU was released in June and won tons of GOTY awards?
Are any of you genuinely surprised? Like really? For this game to make it this year would have been a miracle. Better for them to announce it now then in October.
this is awful news.

Firstly, June isn't Spring, it's Summer. So it's already closer to the end of the year.

Firstly, June isn't Spring, it's Summer. So it's already closer to the end of the year.
Secondly, The Last of Us was a truly exceptional new IP that arrived on the cusp of next gen, not the 4th installment in a soon to be 9 year old series.
Ultimately I don't think the GOTY consideration by itself has a ton of merit... but more end of year recognition + more development time? I don't see why they wouldn't.
But it's all too convenient to say it's a delay of ambition and turn a blind eye to the development issues this game has clearly gone through. U4 has been in development a long time. Not FFXIII long mind you, but by the time it releases, it'll be hard to shake that feeling of, "okay, wait a sec... when did they announce this... how long have they been showing this... and it's just now coming out?"Well this isn't over the top. Calm down man
Ambitious games get delayed.
Look at all the games announced that have had significant delays.

I think we can all agree, as it's painfully obvious now, that they announced U4 far too early.
You think Sony and ND are happy missing the holiday shopping season? You can't be serious with this stuff. This isn't how companies work man
What? No, why would they be happy missing holiday? I'm the one saying U4 might very well be delayed to Q4 2016. There's a host of benefits to it.
Overthinking or just thinking? You and I both know Left Behind wasn't staffed by the full team. How can you gloss over the obvious dev issues and say it's been business as usual? You do realize that the game didn't hit full development until Left Behind was finished right? Putting the full team on it February of last year. If it comes out in 2016 it will have 3 year dev cycle. With 6-8 months of that being pre-production.
Your overthinking this a lot.
this is awful news.

2 of my most anticipated games are releasing Spring 2016. Street Fighter V and Uncharted 4. Those are my top 2 most anticipated PS4 games, it would have been nice to have the 2 spread out.
I like to think the competition will be even better next year.Well, I think this will be better choice for them. We have some leaks and rumors: http://gamerant.com/ps4-slim-leaked-design/
What dev issues?
What are you talking about? Did I miss some announcement or something?
I never understand this. You yourself can spread them out by just not buying them day of release.
