Bluepoint Games working on "highly-acclaimed franchise" remaster on current gen

Well, it says franchise, right? So probably more than one game...

Of course, or else it wouldn't be a franchise. But nowhere does it say that they bringing over more than one game. It's just a game part of a franchise.

PlatinumGames Next Gen Remaster:

Bayonetta, Vanquish, Anarchy Reigns and Metal Gear Rising remastered for next gen consoles.

A man can dream. ;___;

I have a faint memory of a conversation on twitter between druckman and someone from bluepoint which hinted at them working on uncharted. Druckman said something about how difficult it is to port ps3 code to ps4 (talking about the last of us remastered) and the guy from bluepoint tweeted him adding 'especially when it's not your own original code' and druckman replied with a ;)

This was about a year. So I am going with the Uncharted prediction.

Pretty sure it's Uncharted.

Bluepoint did great work with the GoW collection and I think they would be Sony's first choice for Uncharted.

Edit: forgot about ICO Collection as well. Definitely a studio Sony trusts.

Also they did the Vita port for Playstation all stars which i thought was pretty good, the port i mean the game was soso.

I feel like everyone is failing to notice they need a new character artist, traditional remasters dont need character artists.....remakes do

I don't know about that. They clean a lot of things up in their remasters, the UI, character models, etc., it's one of the reasons why they're so great at their jobs.

Have Bluepoint done any work except porting games before? If they don't have any experience in making a brand new game, they should leave the development to someone else.

Yes, they have, but what does that have to do with anything? They're the best port developer in the industry, why on earth would a lack of original work mean they should "leave the development to someone else"? Do you have any idea what you're talking about?

Shadow of the Colossus wonky physics.

I don't think we ever determined the cause of that. The US version was already easier than the PAL version on the PS2, so some people have pointed to that as the reason. It's been a while since I've played either version, so I can't really say.

so the TLOU Remaster was not 60/1080...oh, it was

TLOU Remaster looks like Uncharted 4 graphics? Because that was the stipulation of the post you quoted as to why Uncharted 4 can't be 60fps. Sure they could dumb all UC4 graphics down to last gen effects and get it to 60fps. They are choosing not to. They have a visual target they want to achieve. Trying to bring up TLOU 60fps as proof that UC4 graphics can be done at 60fps on PS4 is pretty silly. They're not targeting TLOU level graphics.

I can't imagine that when these guys left Retro they pictured themselves mostly developing ports for other studios.

It's probably a really profitable company, considering the Dev risk is really low. Also, there is a huge market for such studio in this day and age with the huge amount of remakes being announced, it's not like they will run out of projects to work on.

Plus while it might not be as creatively satisfying, they do generally deliver damn fine ports that a porting company should be proud of.

I understood that XxRampage07xX post:
I refuse to buy it unless they can make it run at 60 fps and 1080p.
refered to the Uncharted Remaster and not to the UC4 demo. So my post was referring to Corpsepyre's doubt of bringing the remaster to 60/1080 and not the demo. If he meant the UC4 demo then yeah, i misunderstood.

There's only a couple of remasters I want that are left tbh:
Mass Effect trilogy, Bioshock collection, Uncharted trilogy and at a stretch: Deus Ex: HR.

Give me those and that's that :)

I don't think Bluepoint Games needs a lot of designers and artists.

Programmers can find fulfillment in just solving technical challenges cleverly. It's also a creative job. Just not obvious to outsiders.

I was referring to the idea is being happy with your work. They left Nintendo, a company that doesn't fire people. And I'm assuming that was because they wanted to do their own thing. Not because they had a passion for ports. Their jobs were already secure with Nintendo.

They've worked on:

Titanfall
All-Stars Battle Royale
MGS: HD Collection
ICO and The SOTC
GOW Collection
Blast Factor
Flower

so far. Their actual site states the following:

We are currently bringing a Sony classic to current game systems as well as teaming our technical expertise with an industry leading developer on a next-gen, blockbuster franchise.

I'm going to go with Uncharted as a remaster if it's a 'Sony classic', or Red Dead if it's cross platform. And I'm guessing the next gen blockbuster franchise will be Arkham Knight. Only guesses mind.

Mount your friends remaster 5k res, believe

Definitive Edition PS4 exclusive thongs, it's why Uncharted was delayed

Reads like multiple games in a franchise being remastered on only ONE platform, so you'd expect to look at continued exclusives. I assume the work is for Sony.

God of War 3/Ascension? Uncharted 1/2/3/Unkarted? Killzone 2/3?

EDIT: Derp, ignore me :/

I'd bet it's Uncharted collection, because last year listed PS4 and they said 'console'. Maybe they added XBO for very likely future projects like Gears Markus chef collection.

I'd make for both cases a trilogy in retail, with the possibility of getting the separate games in digital, and a couple of DLCs: one for the other chapter and another for all the DLCs of the series.
