Kojima will no longer be a Konami executive from April 1st + KojiPro is no more?

What if it was MS?

Oh shit.

My Theory.

Konami is getting out of AAA games and MGS5 will be their last "big one". Kojima's work is done so he is sailing off into the sunset.

OR

LOL April fools.

"Konami Digital Entertainment, including Mr. Kojima, will continue to develop and support Metal Gear products. Please look forward to future announcements."

The same way as "Fumito Ueda will continue to develop The Last Guardian"? A.K.A. he's out but contracted to finish his job.

It's Silent Hills that's worrying though.

I don't care what corporate title he owns.

For me he was always only a game developer/director and head of his studio that was owned by Konami. If he can continue making games that he wants [next up is Silent Hills], I am fine.

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
A Konami without Kojima is a Konami that is dead. To the games world at least, I'm sure they'll keep trucking with boring fitness centres and insurance or whatever. What a weird age to be living in.

I bet Shinkawa is now lead programmer, lead modeller, lead animator, lead mo-cap actor and lead artist on MGSV.

He's been biding his time, waiting for this moment.

At the moment I'm thinking that KojiPro will be restructured and renamed, with the aim of reducing Kojima's profile at Konami for whatever reason. He won't leave soon, but over the next five years they'll want it to not be a big deal when he does.

I also expect Konami wants to use Fox Engine to release a Metal Gear game every two years or something, and that Kojima only wants to work on half of those, or consult on both in some creative capacity.

Either way, I think Konami want to use Metal Gear more often than Kojima does, and Kojima wants more freedom than he's being afforded by Konami. That combined with Kojima not actually wanting to work on Metal Gear any more seems to work out well for both parties.

I don't know much about KojiPro and their relationship with Konami, but this is just what I've inferred from the main bits of news we've had so far.

Why? Not being an executive anymore doesn't he'll suddenly stop working on MGSV or Silent Hills...

Because they're scrubbing his name entirely from their sites. MGSV no longer says "A Hideo Kojima Game". His division (KojiPro) has been removed from their official site. They no longer link to his Twitter account on their website.

Assuming that they don't say anything definitive between now and March 25th, that's going to be a very interesting day because it's when the next Kojima Station is scheduled. That's also something that's no longer anywhere to be found on Konami's webpages. You can only find the date on their Youtube channel.

Well, farewell Ko
nami
. You had a good run.

Seriously, what does this mean for Silent Hills ?

This is actually great news in my opinion if it turns out to be true- Kojima with free reign and an understanding of PC architecture? And hastening the death of the group that killed so many good franchises? Sign me up for whatever comes next.

Good news to wake up to!
