Kojima will no longer be a Konami executive from April 1st + KojiPro is no more?

Odd to remove "A Hideo Kojima game" from those pages. Did Kojima fuck Hayakawa's wife or something?

He said it was his last MGS game. He is probably retiring.

That would be awful. Kojima is a great game designer. He doesn't have to just do Metal Gear for fuck's sake.

Why? Not being an executive anymore doesn't he'll suddenly stop working on MGSV or Silent Hills...
They are taking Kojima productions off everything, either the studio has been spun off and he is going independent or it has been obsorbed. Something big is going on...

Sure were will find out soon. Nowhere to hideo.

You can't just do this shit without announcing it first. :/ Where are the so-called journalists? Busy scratching their balls I guess.

They'd be better off just coming out and saying what has happened. Is he still working there but just doesn't want his name to be used so often?

Microsoft should give him an unlimited budget and the freedom to develop whatever game he wants. The meltdown would destroy this forum. It would be the only true megaton level announcement this generation.

"Konami has responded to rumours circulating this morning suggesting that Metal Gear Solid director Hideo Kojima has left the company.

In a statement provided to VideoGamer.com, a Konami representative said: "Konami Digital Entertainment, including Mr. Kojima, will continue to develop and support Metal Gear products. Please look forward to future announcements."

Rumours of Kojima's departure appeared on Reddit earlier today after it was discovered that Kojima Productions' logos had been removed from the Metal Gear Solid website.

Kojima Productions' website also redirects to Konami's Metal Gear Solid portal.

The representative declined to comment further when asked about the changes made to the developer's website."

Maybe the 'A Hideo Kojima Game' mention isn't going to be necessary when every Konami logo is accompanied with a 'A Hideo Kojima Company'.

I'm guessing that Kojima has indicated he wants to leave and do other stuff at some point in the next year (assumably after TPP is out), so while they're re-arranging stuff for the new year anyway, they're rebranding all KojiPro into Konami proper ahead of time. Maybe. Who knows.

In Taiwan? No, that visit was just MGS5 business. If he really was planning to move to Sony, those meetings would have taken place in Japan, and more importantly, they would have been kept secret.

You mean kept secret like.... Holding a secret meeting after the Taipei game show with him in Taiwan? :p

I'm assuming part of this has to do with Kojima actually wanting to finally end the Metal Gear series and obviously that won't sit well with Konami. Understandably it's the company's biggest cash cow, there's no way they'd let it go. They've likely taken over complete control of the IP.

This was bound to happen eventually. Hideo can't work on the series until his death.

IMHO Konami will focus on MGS now (if they continue making MGS games) and Kojima is working on something else. (He better be working hard on Silent Hills). I think he'll support MGSV, but at this point he probably has an entire staff working hard to update MGSV and MGO.

Maybe its his own personal choice. He has been working on MGS for a very long time. I hope he's working hard on SH. Konami probably wants to make sure MGS is theirs. They don't want anything happening to it. That's if these events actually mean anything. It could be just a subtle change within the company.

Not much more for him to do. He accomplished everything. Go out on top instead of possibly butchering your reputation with some bad or risky new game.

And the Kojima Productions logo or site aren't needed when Konami rebranding as Kojima Productions rolls out.

Im pretty sure this is Kojima's only out if he wants to stop making Metal Gear and move on to something new. Hes wanted to move on now since Sons of Liberty and every time Konami convinces him to stay. They gave him his own studio for 3 and then made him an Exc for 4. I think he is separating himself from Konami now that 5 is wrapping up.

That sounds like he's working on the game from outside Konami, like a freelancer.

I think Kojigod is too creative to keep making MGS games forever, good for him if he broke free from Konami.

He said it was his last MGS game. He is probably retiring.
He'll never retire.

It doesn't make sense though. Konami has never forced Kojima back to Metal Gear, it's always he who comes back himself when he sees the younger staff not being able to make a good MGS game.

Sure, Konami will want to continue Metal Gear beyond BB/Solid Snake, but that's not an area Kojima has issues with.

Ok, now this is getting even deeper. They removed his name from the Legacy Collection too!

It's his legacy, but Konami owns it. In respect to Hideo Kojima's legacy; his name still appears inside the game. This is why money is evil. You probably won't see a lot of Epic over the next Gears besides Blacktusk and the engine they'll use (Unreal possibly). You'll see who worked on it, which has a few members.

MGS4 was Konami saying we need more NOW. Metal gear as a series will be over after V and will be the perfect time for a new team to take over and start fresh.
