We have PS4 games that are graphically more demanding. PS4 is clearly capable of better. It's just From's third class coders who can't optimize apparently.
Didn't even Demon's Souls have better AA?

Having just played Demon's Souls a couple of nights ago I can tell you that the AA and framerate are worse that what I am seeing in these clips for Bloodborne. I don't think Demon's Souls has any AA at all, actually, it just runs at a native 1280x720.

That being said if the gameplay and world manages to snag me like Demon's Souls did then the graphics I am seeing in these clips are more than good enough.

I love the amount of detail they put into the weapons. The Soul series always excelled in that area but this shit is another level.

Look at this shit man. Rusting on the weapon, the dirt covered uneven bandages, the wear and tear from use. UGHHHH fucking hell, please arrive on time. I want to play as soon as possible but i also want a physical copy ;_;

I truly despise that song. It seems so unnecessary to me, considering the extraordinarily atmospheric music that we have heard so far. Whatever about the CG transitions, but there's no reason why we can't just let the art style, gameplay, and atmospheric soundtrack sell the game for you. They're essentially taking a bullet point off the box, if you will, by using music separate from the game in the advertising. It doesn't give off the same vibe that every other trailer has.

But I know why it's in there. Marketing teams, you suck.

I wonder what is carved on the saw blade.

Question if anyone knows the answer, since the day one patch is decently sized (2.7 GB) does the patch download with the disc? In a sense, does the disc install, and then the patch? Or will the disc not fully install until the patch is installed?

Put the disc in, game will install, launch the game after the brief install, and then the patch will be up for dl.

Both the patch and the rest of the game install will be done at the same time so it shouldn't matter. You can play the game after the patch is done and all will be fine.

I passionately hate the song they chose.

Yeah the "whiney guy" voice is annoying to me. I wish they would just stick with some of the in-game music for these things. I understand why the picked it..."cut you down" but still.

Im really wanting to start with the long axe... if its not too slow. Reminds me of the Halberd which was my main weapon in DS.

The description of weapon upgrades makes it sound like that system isn't gonna be nearly as deep as in previous games. Which goes along with most other RPG aspects seemingly having been toned down. They're there, but they're not as deep or extensive. Should still be plenty to get some nice customization going, but perhaps this one won't be quite as replayable as the Souls games (the Chalice dungeons might cure that though).

(Before I'm jumped for this or accused of concern trolling: I'm very excited for this game, can't wait! I'm just commenting on things that seem to have changed a bit, for better or worse.)

Eh, no, I just played through DeS, and I'm pretty sure it has zero AA. Razor-sharp jaggies all over. BB's AA is pretty bad too though.

PS4 games can be played as soon as the disc install (or part of it) is done, you don't have to wait for the patch like on XBO. But then you'll have to restart the game to apply the patch once it has downloaded of course, it doesn't do that on the fly as you're playing.

After reading through this topic before watching it, I expected to hear some sort of musical atrocity waiting to ruin my ears one beat at a time.

Nope, I thought it fit the commercial pretty well. Certainly has the right tone, and the beat synched up to action pauses alright as well.

Lord Error

Insane For Sony
I like the commercial but i echo the sentiments. wish they splurged and got Gods Gonna Cut You Down by Cash for the song.
Like for like, Cash's song is of course better, but it's also way, way too obvious and overused at this point. There would be no way for this game to 'own' that song at this point like they could with this new version.

Yeah the "whiney guy" voice is annoying to me
? It's pretty obvious it's a woman singing.

Allow me to be totally honest, I have kept this to myself for so long. I think that saw blade is one of the ugliest weapon designs I've ever seen. Ever. It's ugly and looks totally ineffective, especially when it's not in it's long transformed state. I think almost everything about this game is gorgeous, but it's just the most terrible looking object I've ever known.

:p

I hope this game is hard to Platinum. Dark Souls 1 and 2 were a little too easy, still need to platinum Demon''s Souls though :/ (The stone grind is real

I think the music was completely fine and the trailer fantastic. I hate when forum lurking basement dwelling headbangers complain about the music choice in trailers every fucking time.

Music used in video game trailers just seems universally bad, like it all got sourced from the same focus group regardless of the game being advertised.

I'm honestly expecting the easiest Fromsoft game to date, but that doesn't necessarily reflect how hard it'll be to platinum.

They've made a lot of pretty easy games over the years. Lost Kingdom was pretty short and easy. Some of the Armored Cores? Evergrace?

I have been genreally avoiding media on the game but I am so curious, has there been any confirmation on equipment options aside from weapons? I am a little concerned about variety and am not loving the trenchcoat look.

The full game install from disc happens independent of any patch installs, so you can download and install the day 1 patch as soon as the ~30 seconds initial install is done.

Just press Options on the game and select check for updates.

Is that just a gut feeling, or are you saying this from a position of knowledge?

Yeah, I don't want to make people think I've played. It's a mix of gut feeling and having watched alpha footage and followed the game since announcement. There's every chance in the world that I'm full of shit.

I think my main concern is that there is now seemingly only one way to success in Bloodborne - being aggressive and dodging. I feel like when you only have one kind of playstyle and the entire game is based around making that style powerful and effective it's naturally going to be a bit easier to pull off than in past games. I feel like with less stats and less weapons there are less ways to fuck up a build, making just about anything viable unless you intentionally fuck it up. I also haven't seen a mention of NG+ yet, which is where most of the challenge in past Souls games came from.

I don't think that'll make it a bad game, or lesser to the Souls series. I just think people who are familiar with this kind of gameplay will probably be surprised by how easy it is. I have every expectation that I may be proven wrong.

“Yes,” Miyazaki confirms. “There will be a New Game Plus mode.”

He laughs.

“We’re having trouble beating it, though.”

So is this the new spoiler-free hype thread? The launch trailer thread kinda died since this got posted.

New TV spot is a huge improvement over the original. Not a fan of the song but the gameplay snippets looks great. That shot with the door opening to the highly stylized forest and castle in the distance is fantastic.

Mine is similar except Skylanders -> Bloodborne. Rinse and repeat. Not so uncommon for a house with kids. ;)

Bought $60 of PSN gift card codes on Amazon.

Entered codes into PSN Wallet.

Paid $59.99 for Bloodborne Pre-Order.

Have 1 cent leftover in Wallet.

Going to pre-load the game 2 days before release so I can play on Day 1.

-Damn I love not having to pay TAX or SHIPPING or waste Gas on a trip to the store.

I wont spoil anything ....but lets just say "no worries m8" ;)

I haven't been able to enjoy playing any other games for a couple of weeks as nothing compares to the anticipation for this.
I knew it would be tough but I saved my LTTP blind run of Shadow of the colossus for this week...it has been serving well. REally hoping I can go from one GOTF to the next!!!

Great commercial. Could have chose a better song, but that was a great display of the gameplay. It just looks...fun.
