Wasn't Rorschach from Watchmen also a rumored character? I remember people seeing his silhouette in the roster screen last year.

because when this happens, sometimes we end up with awesome people. Ermac son.

Skarlet in MK9 was baller too

It's still an extremely lazy way to develop characters. It's basically just reiterations of the same characters again and again until something finally sticks. As much shit as the Street Fighter games get for shoto clones, the MK games beat them in that area for sure.

how many fucking ninjas do they want in mk10?? Isnt there a cowboy ninja already in Mk10 and now we have tremor?

Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Reptile.

Ermac has none of his Ninja roots left at this point.

Erron Black is just a cowboy he's not really a Ninja. He just wears a facemask.

TakEEEda has Ninja variation.

Noob, Rain, and Smoke are all dead.

No Noob, Smoke, or Rain. No pre-cyborg Cyrax and Sektor either, if you want to count them.

Just Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Reptile, Ermac, and now cowboy ninja and Tremor. So 6. Fewer ninjas than MK9.

That was his silhouette, and it was a Boon troll; some of the silhouettes were deliberately put in as misdirects.

If they really needed a female DLC character so badly they should've just done Jade and given Kitana a different variation instead.

I'm actually curious about this game now (more so knowing that Johnny Cage is back & that I can use my Eightarc Onyx). Anything I should know as a Street Fighter, MvC, GG/Persona Arena, Smash, & Tekken player?

glad I didn't drop the $30 on the Kombat Pack... I'll pick up Jason, Predator, and the Predator skin pack... rest of the stuff I'll just pick up on sale.

I actually think Tanya might be the worst looking female I've seen from NRS yet. Tied with Raven at the very least. Tremor looks pretty dope though, and Carl Weathers as Jax should be rad.

That's how Jason feels for me.

The only reason he doesn't feel *as* random is because Freddy in 9 set the precedent. But Freddy in 9 seemed weird as shit, too.

I mean, I'm curious to see how both of them play, but I still don't even understand why Netherrealm ever went this route, considering their main strength is (of all things) the story. They've managed to create a fully fleshed-out SyFy-style fantasy universe full of a ton of characters borne from some of the most pungent genre cheese ever placed in a fondue pot. It is gloryhallastoopid in some really fun ways, and they know this and place a reeeeealy high priority on it, and you can see that in the level of care poured into the story mode. So with all that - I don't see the appeal of offering DLC and then using slots for characters that have zero role in any of that, and aren't really bringing any of their own universe over with them in return.

But if you don't care about story (or even the potential for story) then I mean - sure, fuck it, why not, it's all about how the characters play, or at least it maybe should be. But this still seems like one of the more nonsensical decisions Boon & Co. have made, and they've done it twice in a row now.

double jump

you haven't lived until a random little kid ask you "how do you make love".
so wrong and uncool but I'm laughing at the Tanya fans right now.
Just horrible.

Where's Reiko tho????

Wow. Didn't think Tremor was going to be a thing. And I'm pleasantly surprised Tanya made it. The game needs more a semblance for MK4. But at the same time...

At least they put in the Classic Predator and not ones from the terrible AVP films or Predators.

Too bad Jason wasn't as lucky and got the remake version would have preferred the one from Jason Lives.

It's probably fueled more by pure $$$ than anything else, as I remember hearing Freddy was by far the best selling DLC character. And from the start I took Freddy as more of an experiment as series like Soul Calibur started starting hosts of random properties to see if it paid off. Guest characters like this seem to bring in attention and purchases that would otherwise not be there, though I get the aversion. It also works more as piecemeal instead of from the start as none of the DLC characters(like Rain, Skarlet, etc) actually need to show up in the story even if they hack up a non canon ending for arcade mode.

Looking at some other characters it feels like they've taken a lot of cues from Injustice and other MK characters with the variations(Reptile basically has the Flash trait in one of his, and the grundy chip damage in another, Johnny Cage stunt double for Noob, Jade Sorrow variant for Jade...stuff like that). I'm expecting Predator to pull from Cyrax pretty heavily since he's absent. No clue on Jason though.

WB doesn't own the Predator franchise though or am I mistaken?

Yeah my bad, Fox owns Predator but I'd imagine working with WB gets you connections to film characters. Predator was in CoD: Ghost so Fox seems to have no problem spreading the character around.

Decent but no Skarlet makes Eddie go something something...

And please don't tell me two other fan favorites will get added outside the Pass.

You can never have too much ninjas. So with Noob and Smoke out of the way, does that set up for a Noob-Smoke alliance in the future? I can't be the only one who wants this...

Mileena looks alright.

That's what happens when your owned by Warner Bros.

I think most of the females are fine in MKX, except for Kitana, who I think looks fat.
Some people have a problem with Sonya, but I don't see it.

But Tanya man...

I'm just happy she got in over Jade.

Well if they aren't doing any story-based DLC then story doesn't really dictate the DLC characters they way it does on-disc ones. I think that's part of the appeal, actually.
