So I got to Defiance Bay and I swear I've found a total of like 2 hidden items. Does the Mechanics requirement jump a bit to see these in the town, or are there just not as many items? I feel like I'd come across a lot more.

Pretty sure the stealth skill is responsible for that? Maybe I'm wrong hough.
Also you need to be in scout mode to find hidden objects

Just found another fun bug any quick item you have on a party member gets is destroyed if you swap them out. Lost like three or four dozen food items to that.

Also my Cipher doesn't seem to generate any focus at all during battle. She's got 50 so I can dish out a lot of great stuff but it goes to -1 and then nothing is generated not through shots fire and hit or melee attacks.

Seeking advice:

I have two systems that aren't ideal to play this... but I do want to play this. How would performance look for both?

1) Retina Macbook Pro (late 2012). 2.5 ghz Intel Core i5, 8gigs ram, intel HD graphics 4000 (know this is the biggest issue).

2) Surface Pro 1. 1.7 Intel Core i5, 4gigs ram, Intel HD 4000 (I didn't know this was the exact same as above until I looked).

I'm not looking for the best experience just... a tolerable one to play this. Thoughts?

Oh. :( Time to sneak around everywhere, then.

Doing the temple right now and I'm getting pretty damn into it. Some minor gripes about stat balancing (CON is basically a dump stat for non-tanks with very little in the way of penalty if you take it down below 10) and I wish Chanters didn't have such a long ramp up time, but otherwise, good stuff. Hard/expert also feels like a good difficulty right now, just enough to keep me on my toes.

Main trouble right now is when Eder can't grab attention and a few mobs get to my dps; don't really have a reliable way for them to push them off, unless the chanter has his phrases 3-stacked already. In an emergency I just get Durance to cast Withdraw and that's been enough to take me through some tough spots.

I'm not sure which lvl you are, but Eder can get a skill that forces enemies to engage on him.

There is an item in Defiance bay (Horn of something or other I think) that totally breaks the Cipher's focus generation ability.

now I'm thinking about rerolling because chanters just take so long to do anything.
I'm not as far in the game but I'm thinking the same about my chanter. I mean sure chanter isn't only about the invocation, but the fact invocation are usefull in so few fight because it's usually ready by the time the fights are coming to an end... it just feel bad and make the character extremely passive.

And that's what I have equipped on her. Does taking it of fix it?

Edit: Just tried and that looks like a no, I'll see if swapping her out and back into party helps.

Well, I don't think I'm high enough of a level for
The Lighthouse
quest in Defiance Bay.

Don't think I've ever been dropped so quick, ouch.

Yeah that part just kicked my ass a few minutes ago. Man this game is so awesome so far I am still a little bit awe struck.

Is there a map that shows where chapter 1 companions are? I think I've missed one or two.
No Durance in my crew!

I saw it here but forgot to save it.

Edit: Found it. Wow, I don't have 2 companions. I might have screwed up somewhere... :/

No Eder either... and he's suppose to come to you after you talk to animancer? Fuck.

Edit: aww yeah found him!

Anyone know if the Two-Handed Style talent affects two handed ranged weapons?

I struggled with this a while, but I'm pretty sure it does. The bow tooltip outright says "Two-handed", and there's no talent for ranged damage. Thinking about it now though, you could just do it with a bow equipped and see if your damage changes on the left side of your character sheet. I wasn't really familiar with the UI when I picked the talent so I couldn't check for myself.

The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!
Sooo am I doing something wrong? I'm in combat right now, my cipher is at 0 focus, she is attacking and damaging an enemy, but her focus is staying at 0. Wut?

Character Spoilers

Aloth and Eder are in Gilded Vale, Durance is at Magran's fork, Kana is in front of Caed Noa, and Sagani is in the Wooded Something or Other, which opens up after you clear out Caed Noa.

Can someone spoil for me when and how you trigger Aloth's personal quest? I have all my companions quests available from just talking to them, nothing for him yet though. Currently in Defiance Bay.

Why does this game run so badly?

Mostly pre-rendered stuff + low quality textures and particle effects... some of these fights are bringing my frames into the 40s. I'm on a 980GTX.

I thought I was the only one. Granted, my PC isn't that good, but I've been able to run stuff like Skyrim with some mods. I should be able to play with no problem.

So about that Dyrford Crossing dungeon...
I sacrificed the ranger girl to a blood pool to get stat boosts for my main character. The bitch had to die.

Btw that place gives a crazy amount of valuable loot. I think I got like 14k when I sold everything after clearing that place. Any other places like that? I want to get paid son.

Holy shit I didn't even know you could do that, the
pool of blood just stopped talking to me. That's wild. What was the stat boost?

So what class makes best use of two-handed weapons? Seems like tanks want shields and DPS classes like rogues would rather duel weld light weapons for more hits.

I have a 980 and never have this issue. In fact it runs too fast I have to set a frame limiter

Barbarian does a sort of cleave and can be slow+hard hitting or fast+lighter. Bit of a reckless class that hits harder as it takes hits.
Rogue I've found is okay. Does good damage but has poor survivability. But then I made it a glass cannon so maybe that's the problem.

Well.... I chose a fighter. And maybe it's just because it's early on, but I'm not LOVING it just yet. My only ability is knockdown. Meanwhile my wizard friend has much better attacks, albeit limited in uses.

So far though, I'm finding the game to be very well done. Even if a lot of the dialog is nonsensical to me.

How far should I be going down the Endless Paths before moving on? I just got past
Raedric's Keep
in Act 1 and I got to floor 6 of the Endless Paths
thanks to a shortcut
. The enemies there don't seem drastically more challenging that the ones on the previous floors
though I mostly skipped 2 and 3
despite the scenery change but I'm kinda worried about out levelling the critical path stuff.

Outleveling through combat? That's a good one.

Fighting enemies doesn't give you enough experience to out level the game.

Yeah the fighter is a tank and as far as I can tell so far doesn't really get any amazing blow your socks off abilities like some of the other classes. Which is fine by me as I like playing tanks. I do find the fighters ability to engage(I think that is what it is called) enemies to be irreplaceable though.

Yooo just fumbled around and changed my portrait. I dunno if it's a known thing or if it's safe, but basically its this;

Whatever portrait you're using, make sure you have the EXACT file name, name the replacement the exact same thing (or lg and sm) and then delete the original and delete the (2) in the file name and I was able to replace my portrait with the new one. You load your save, it should show up no problemo and when you save, it'll replace it on the little icon on the folder and stuff.

I've just been playing a lot, sorry if this is old news that's already been discovered. Make a new story and two portraits just to fuck around and make sure it works for you just to be safe.

They really need to make it easier to import custom portraits.

I'm sure it'll come in time. Someone made a thing for Wasteland 2 where you could just change it whenever no problem or hassle. Really hoping for that to come around ASAP. If I can remember, you can even fumble with the stats as well, but I never really messed with that aspect of it. Ugh, this game is going to haunt me with mods forever.

Hmm nope, definitely never used that item. I do have a Talisman of the Unconquerable on her though, maybe that had a similar effect.

edit: yup, someone mentions that in the thread. ugh.

Sorry to hear that. This bug has been confirmed to be fixed, but of course the patch is not out just yet.

Yeah, it should run better. I figured my laptop (HD4000) has issues with all the particles, but this thing has no issues with games like Dota2 or Bioshock... I should be able to run this a bit better.

It is playable though. Just not smooth.

I have to say, I'm finding close quarters fights to be really frustrating, it seems like you need to micromanage so much just so your front line guys wont get stuck in the back. Its also really hard to see what's going on with your 6 party members and 5+ enemies in a tiny room

I think they decided to skip optimization for lower end machines to stay on budget. still, while I understand it, it is quite annoying to see it run worse than much prettier last-gen games.

Is the level 2 Wizard spell Combusting Wounds broken? I'm doing some testing and it doesn't seem to do anything. I'm having a fighter duel wield daggers and attack a target with Combusting Wounds applied to it and no extra damage is showing up in the combat log or over the mobs head.

I have had a similar issue with the level 2 Cipher spell Recall Agony. It seems that spells which put a debuff on a target that then deals damage when the mob takes damage either don't work or don't show up in the combat log or floating combat text.
