Seems like if I have my max amount of camping supplies, and I use take all on some container that has one, it just ends up disappearing? How come it won't stay there so I can run back and get it if I need it, or so I can use one right then and then top off my supplies? :(
That's what happens for me. Or at least I think that happened... usually when I see some supplies I use my current ones and then pick them up.

prob silly question, but does this game have secret chests and stuff to find in villages , wilderness etc?
It has a ton of secret containers (not necessarily chests) to find almost everywhere.

Hmm. Well, it only happened to me once or twice, so I guess I could've been mistaken about how it actually occurred. Maybe I actually was at 3 supplies or something.

Anyone playing Path of the Damned? How ridiculous is it? I'm playing hard and I like where the difficulty is at, though I'm still super early on.

It's happened to me too. If I try to put supplies past my cap into a party member's inventory it won't but if I put it into the stash they just disappear.

Also, does anyone know why when I equip Fluvano's Gloves (+5 reflex) on Edér it shows up as (Suppressed) under Active Effects and he doesn't receive the bonus?

Edit: Never mind, figured it out. He has a cloaked equipped which gives +5 reflex and apparently they don't stack.

Anyone playing a melee DPS apart from a rogue? Barbs / fighters seem useless. DR and accuracy is absurd for melee characters.

Don't even get me started on Paladins.
Paladin DPS here. Stats:
18
5 (if I could go back I'd lower this to 3 and raise Might or Dex more)
16
14
15
10
Arms of choice: Arbalest (basically truck-shooting crossbow), Pike, 1h Sword (no shield); Light armor.

It obviously can't compete with Rogue, and I still don't know about how it'll fare in the mid-to-late game; but for now it's working: hard+expert difficulty and only problem I had was a room full of Shades (until I got the trick) and another room full of S-things with 2 Kings.

I feel like "extra" camps should go into your Stash.

Ah, that would explain it, then. I pretty much always just take all into my stash, then sort it out later.

I feel like "extra" camps should go into your Stash.

The problem with that is, depending on your settings, there would be effectively no camping supplies limit, right? You could just grab more from your stash whenever.

Oh, yeah. Forgot about that.

I guess I haven't actually looked at the experience I've been getting then. I just noticed I levelled up while I was in there and got worried.

Well there are a fair number of quests within the Endless Paths so you can still get experience. Plus you get get experience for filling out the bestiary.

Also someone mod out all backer epitaphs/ souls pls.

Why? They are 99.9% non-intrusive. NPC is colored gold then they are backer souls. Don't click them if you don't want to read the (IMO very well written) stories.

The epitaphs are just as easy to avoid- they have a unique icon that isn't used elsewhere.

Decided to restart on Path of the Damned as a Cipher just to see how that class plays. A lot of fun so far. Also appreciate how the game handles multi-char saves (it files them by character with a dropdown option).

Yeah, they're often well written, it's a shame they're completely disjointed from the rest of the game and you can't interact with those characters in any way.
Also I just realised they strongly remind me of PS: Torment's Society of Sensation "experiences"

I'll try doing that. I'm running with a Barbarian with Might/Con/Per as focus and no shields. Maybe that's what I'm also doing wrong, it's my first time not playing as a Fighter or Paladin and I can't remember the last time I played a CRPG haha, I didn't suck like this back then :c

Dunno if I should go for the sidequests already, create anothe character with a class more familiar to me or explore the dungeon at Gilded Vale.
im running a Barbarian and if you play to their strengths they absolutely smash things. Their strength is their AoE cleave ability Rampage. INT helps here because it boosts the range of the AoE. Every time you melee attack you roll to hit everyone in this area. As long as you have a tank you are devastating. i think 5 guys in one swing is my record. Because my character shouldnt be hit they are in a set of Fine Robes (DR 5) so they get more swings in than if they were heavily armored. im loving my 2H robed Barbarian.

Yea thats probably my largest complaint with the game yet (which isnt really a complaint). The stories are mostly excellent (there is one in the GAF inn that is really fucked up) but without interactivity they are basically just another form of book.

So, why the hell do some of my hirelings start as hostile to me when I'm defending an attack against my Stronghold? Made what should have been an easy fight slightly more annoying.

Man. I was adventuring in the
Od Nua/Endless Paths/Stronghold
area, and came across my first set of Beetles. Holy smokes some of those guys are no joke. Paired with some of the spiders, those things are mean. Nearly wiped my party.

Played for a few hours today and got up to the first town, managed to kill that notorious bear before that, he hits like a truck but it's fine.

I really liked this game but I've just suddenly experienced a number of gamebreaking issues that are essentially forcing me to restart.

For one the party manager is completely broken. Sometimes it will let me remove characters one at a time and then add them but even then it's a crapshoot and often times while it shows my party is what I set it to, when I exit out my party will be whatever I had beforehand.

This breaks even more if I try to include Kana in my party. If I do that the party manager breaks completely and won't let me change anything. Furthermore Kana's shadow appears in the center of one of the Defiance Bay maps dead center and when you try to talk to him he has the speech as if I was talking to him in my hold.

Finally certain interiors cause the screen to just go black and while I can move my cursor around and hear music, I can't do anything else and even hitting escape doesn't cause a menu to appear.

It sucks because I was about 30 hours into the game... the thought of having to restart when this might just occur again is really unappealing.

The game is horribly balanced for me so far. Playing on hard and while the first 5 levels of my party were tough, everything after that has been cake. I'm a little gutted. I may restart and try the next difficulty up as boredom is hitting now. Anyone got much feedback with path of the damned?

Pancakes

hot, steaming, as melted butter slips into the cracks, drizzled with sticky sweet syrup OH GOD
Sigh, another annoying bug.

When you're swapping party members out leaving your fortress don't hit escape after you've made changes. This locks your party and no matter where I go I can't re-add people to my party...

You don't have to restart to change the difficulty. Path of the damned as far as I know includes all potential enemies from easier difficulties and also gives them stat boosts. Go for it.

You could also possibly try running a smaller party.

Damn. That sucks to hear... so many games just can't get a decent difficulty curve. Divinity, Wasteland 2 had these same issues.

Pretty hard to manage on a game like this though. Since group setups are basically almost impossible to predict.

Just finished
Raedric's hold
and it wasn't too bad. Lots of choke points to keep back line fighters safe. That last encounter was tricky. I setup whatever traps I could, sent the fighter into the middle and prayed for good results. I was successful.

Oh, yeah. Where the hell is that damn vault?

Yeah there is a lot of trash loot but I dno man the ie games certainly had that as well as every enemy just drops whatever they have equipped. Def not a style of game where you wanna pick up and examine every piece of loot. the stash in this game kinda encourages picking up all that garbage though I guess.

Watch this game have multiple Pale Justice-like items in the random loot drops.

I can stop picking up every piece of loot even though I know 99% of it is basically worthless and just clogs up merchant windows.

I wish the highlighting would only shows those items, not uselessly make everything else slightly transparent requiring me to still scroll alllllllll the way down to whatever I'm looking for.

Yep, I agree, not sure why the list isn't actually filtered.

They remind me of Lost Odyssey's short story sequences, where certain events trigger a recollection of a past life, however they are far too many in number to pull off the same effect as in that game.

I'm still at the very start of the game. Playing on Easy. Just me (fighter) and Aloth. I stumbled onto the "Buried Secrets" sidequest... and it's kicking my ass. There's a room with 3 shadows that just demolish me.

I guess I'm supposed to wait a bit to do this one.

I understand the effect they were going for with the backer stories, the way I see it is that you are walking down a street and you catch glimpses of some people's souls without necessarily interacting with them. The issue for me is that the writing often feels of lesser quality in these, and the stories are often too short to offer anything really interesting. More importantly, the stories I have read so far never add much to the lore of the game, as opposed to all the books you find for example (which I can't get enough of by the way), and that's my biggest gripe with them.

All in all, I have stopped reading them once I got to act 2 and they really are easily ignored, not much of an issue for me but I can see why some would like an option for them to be removed.

I must be missing something really obvious... but how do I craft in this game? Upgrading my keep doesn't seem to unlock any crafting stations and such?

You can craft meals and potions by going to your inventory and clicking the craft button in the bottom of the screen right next to your stash icon. You can also enchant your weapons and shields by right clicking them in your inventory and clicking the enchant button in the bottom right next to compare. You can craft at any time as long as you have the resources for it, no need to go to a merchant.

Duh, it's right on the character sheet... early interviews and the wiki made me look in all the wrong places.

Cheers!

I'd recommend either dinking around in town a bit more until you get the second companion (a tank fighter) or hiring a fighter or paladin. Playing the early game without a tank is rough.
Ah good to know that there is a companion there, it's
the Edér dude, right?

Sounds nice! My problem must be the lack of a tank then hehe.

And I never imagined that Int was going to affect non-spells AoE :/

PoE had more backers though. But yeah I think this game will end up doing better than Divinity. We still don't have any way to tell numbers for GoG copies either.

currently exploring the temple in gilded vale after doing the blacksmith and mother's quests... will probably go kill that bear now (for what reason? revenge.)

should I hit up Readric or Cad Nua (sp?) next?

my companions are
eder, aloth and durance

Yeah the game lacks a lot of these seemingly common sense and minor features like sorting items in your stash.

Though to be fair I remember Divinity was the same at one point and it took a lot of complaining until Larian finally put in during one of the very last updates before the full release. Hopefully Obsidian will do the same in an upcoming patch, at the very least(though I pray it doesn't take that long) the expansion.

FlyinJ

Douchebag. Yes, me.
I'm at the keep, and every door I go in results in a black screen. I need to kill the program to exit. Is this a common bug? Is there a workaround ?

You know a game's writing is good when you notice you spent the last hour and a half just talking to your companions and reading books, without taking a step from the inn you were staying. Obsidian fucking nailed it.

To anyone who uses her, what are your thoughts on
The Grieving Mother
character background?
