Leaked Battlefront info (40 players, heroes, free Ep7 DLC, FPS & TPS) [Full Screens]

The trailer looks sensational, I can't wait to get my hands on this. I also can't believe how good the game looks, it looks even better than Dragon Age. Looks like DICE have done a good job.

I hope they add in large scale ships in space battles as more than just bases. Then again, we'd probably just ram them into each other.

Never heard of Dolby Atmos but it sure sounds exciting.
Basically it consists of up to 62.2 separate speaker feeds at the theatre rather than conventional cinema speaker systems for 5.1 or 7.1 This provides enhanced ambience in the auditor, both on the horizontal, and especially vertical, e.g. it'll actually sound like rain, or plane/helicopters overhead.

All 64 channels are much more versatile and can all be individually mixed, unlike conventional cinema with 5.1 or 7.1 speaker systems that are locally grouped (image shown below for comparison), Atmos is a much more realistic and natural sounding experience.

I caved as soon as I turned on my PS4 last night and got that special notification from Sony telling me the preorder is available. Yea they basically said kick in the dough and I was like ok.

That's pretty much what happened to me.

"Oh, I'll see what Star Wars games are on Origin..."

*preordered*

Watching now, how/where the hell did you get a playable build?
Is it available for everyone or is there something youre not telling us?

I have access to many cancelled games. Some of which are in better shape than others. I was the one who first showed off footage of the game.

I doubt they can get more than 1 map out of Hoth, for example.

Not to quibble, but just for the sake of conversation I don't see why not. Just sticking with what's in the films, there's the traditional battlefield for walkers/speeders/those turrets (open) along with the base (close quarters). And those giant transport ships probably wouldn't fit in the hangars shown so there could be an airfield etc. They could easily conjure up 2-3 distinct looking/playing maps there.

Same with Endor. We've seen the forest/Ewok village, but there's also some sort of Imperial base there with landing pads, stairs, walkways and all that stuff.

Was a little strange that people automatically assumed one map per world. As others pointed out yesterday, in all the years of shooters, somehow we haven't run out of earth maps.

Actually, it fell off a cliff once it started following what other "modern" shooters were doing. LOL at the "stone age" comment BTW. If anything, FPS have been devolving in the past decade. I'd gladly play games like Quake, UT, Counter-Strike, Halo CE, TF2, etc, over most "modern" shooters.

And yes, I'm pretty sure he means Counter-Strike (so good)
OK and like I was saying, the people I game with, don't play pc games, they play console games, and they definitely don't play halo anymore that's for sure.

Honestly I see no point in even going into fps mode when you can easily be out maneuvered by someone in third person.

Absolutely. You could easily get 2 maps right off the bat with Hoth just using the movie scenes. Same with the forest moon. Same with ________. And so forth.

That's pretty amazing. Why don't games offer 3D audio like those found in the ASMR videos?

That's binaural audio, and is only really effective with headphones as its the accurate representation of how your ears translate sound in 3D space, and interpret the position of whatever is being recorded.

This Binaural head below had two microphones. One in each ear, so recordings of a a live performance of a band sound like you're there through headphones.

Sony are supporting this for games on Morpheus.

The issue is the amount of time and effort to record in this way multiple sources and to get accurate results without it sounding poor, especially during mixing in the production stage.

Plus the benefits don't seem that great when the extra effort required for an additional binaural mix will only see benefits from through headphones. Recording and mixing process is quite different... So it just adds to dev time. I can sound fantastic though.

I see, thanks for the great reply :)

Wish publishers would offer some sort of cross buy feature, even if it's just a discount. This definitely seems like the type of game I'll end up getting on PS4 and PC.

Same, I'm going to end up buying both but there's no way EA will do something like that when it's not even a standard practice

I don`t get the highly requested single player campaign mode. Battlefront is a multiplayer game, meaning that they wouldn`t have put much effort into the single player campaign. Haven`t you played single player in CoD, Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Hardline? It`s horrible. The "Mission" mode in Battlefront 3 sounds much more replayable and dynamic than some super scriptet campaign mode that will only last 5 hours.

Why do I get the feeling this game will be rushed to market like Battlefield 4?

It's been in development longer than BF 4 I believe, they're not developing for 5 platforms this time and they have all the improvements that t he BF 4 CTE has to work with although they're different games.

But it does seem like they're trying to get in on the Force Awakens hype. Best thing is just to wait and see how launch goes I guess.

I really hate it when developers do this. Just answer the question, don't try to spin it.
