Feminists play GTA for the 1st time

This is the grossest shit. This doesn't provide any new meaningful insight on GTA from a feminist perspective. It's literally the most transparent effort from Buzzfeed to capitalize on the drama in the video game community for clicks.

Face it, we are all worthless meatbags that exist to give clicks.

Eh ... It wasn't that bad, a lot of them got it and some of them made really valid points. So, not a big deal if you actually watched it.

Love that the one woman already knew the deal - its a satire of American culture.

I mean...it is, sure? But like, Fight Club is ostensibly a satire also and that doesn't mean people got that it was a satire.

Had to close it 10 seconds in. That self-introduction. I can't.
OK let's try this again.

Edit: Oh lawd they got to the strip club aaaaaaa

Pretty typical reactions.
In all seriousness though, I've been thinking about the protagonist for the next GTA. I really hope it's back to one person and is a woman this time. I wanna see how badass Rockstar can make her. Interested in the perspective as well.

Holy shit, you mean feminists aren't raging psycho bitches who want to ban all video games?? You mean they can have fun with a game AT THE SAME TIME that they criticize it??

Like, most people don't get that American Psycho is also satire.

Also "Someone told me that this was satire" implies that you don't actually know whether or not it is.

They made some good points in their closing comments, particularly in regards to the lack of strong female characters, which is one of my gripes with GTAV.

The generalization that all games are like this irks me. No doubt that most do but a lot more recently have been trying to break that mold. We need more female developers in the business and thankfully we are getting a lot more.

And this is the most I'll ever say about this kind of topics. I try my best stay away from this kind of stuff and I'm still proud that I never once got myself involved in any of that shit from last year.

Of course is the one who concludes with "I actually had a lot of fun" only seen at the very beginning and the very end of the video

Though I wonder what they were expecting in their probable 90 minutes of actually playing. Even if GTA5 had an Elizabetha equivalent, they wouldn't have seen it from what they were shown.

yea this, but the youtube comments are a "feminists are destroying the world" shitpile

Never read the comments though. especially youtube comments.

"And I can get my money back..." Ha.

I guess I wouldn't go so far and call these feminists. It seems to me any normal woman would have that reaction to this game.

They seemed to have reasonable objections for the most part. All they really said was that they had fun except for with some obvious aspects of the game.

I never understood how GTA was satire, but I haven't really played the games since Vice City.

Their complaints are pretty valid really, especially that there's really no 'strong', good or even enjoyable female characters in GTA (even though they didn't go in to the story they got that right lol).

Pretty lame video overall. They seemed to enjoy the game though.

They showed her multiply times throughout the video. Shooting up people in front of a hospital, driving her car into a tree and I think she was the one who burst out laughing at the video game tits.

i never got the criticisms lobbied against gat from a violence/feminist angle

i don't play gta but even i know that nothing in the game forces the player to do any of this. isn't the story about the false male masculinity and like depressed dudes trying to get money

That's good to see they're some people in the world who know what it's real and not.

I love that statement for how reasonable and agreeable it is. It demonstrates that it's possible people can like something but also critisize some aspects of it.

I wish more people acknowledged that instead of thinking everything is strictly a black or white type of deal when it comes to criticism.

Seems like YOU guys are overreacting more than you expected THEM to...

I mean, oh for christ sake. I'm a woman, I consider myself rooting for the feminist ideals and I love GTA V, it's a FRIGGIN GAME. And a GOOD one with great, funny, satirical, clever story!

Lol, the black girl said it was great and they didn't show any footage of her beside that and her intro.
The purpose of this video is to capitalise on controversy and reaction drama. If she's not outraged it just isn't interesting.
It's like expecting Pewdiepie to give good insight on games.

But didn't you hear? Anita Sarkeesian wants to ban all video games! Here's a Breitbart article/Reddit infographic/insanely long Youtube rant that proves it!

What's interesting is, despite the fact that GTA is a social commentary on American culture by deeply cynical Brits, a lot of people still don't realise the games aren't developed in the US. I don't mean enthusiasts, of course, but those who know of GTA and little else tend to assume that the games are celebrating and encouraging this kind of behaviour.

On topic, it's cool to hear from some sex-positive feminists and see that they are having fun with the game :)

You know that not all feminists are extremist and can have "normal" reactions?

That didn't seems as feminist as I thought. One of them seemed to enjoy herself.

Total feminist here! Hi! I play GTA from time to time. Gonna break this to ya, some of us understand humor and satire and how those things work. What were you expecting?
