COMICS! |OT| April 2015. Everyone's burned out and looking for an excuse to quit.

I disliked that
the fake Justice League jobbed so hard. We're supposed to believe that Dr. Strange could solo the Justice League? OK.
So what the guys said too, but the Great Society/JLA knockoffs had also just gone through an incursion against the mapmakers too.

I just reread the arc and the story of how the Great Society/JLA knockoffs came to be basically shows that yeah they are much stronger than the Avengers.

Does anyone know if Marvel are doing a Hickman Avengers Omnibus?

I want to get his FF Omnibus(i?) next then start collecting his Avengers/New Avengers stuff but...i'm a sucka for dem Omnibus/Absolute style editions.

Edit: I like http://marvelmasterworksfansite.yuku.com/sreply/760284/Avengers-and-New-Avengers-Omnibus-by-Hickman- idea of Vol. 1 - Avengers #1-23, New Avengers #1-12 and Infinity #1-6

Vol. 2 - Avengers #24-44 and New Avengers #13-33
They're totally going to make omnis for this, just give it time.

I'm rereading Star Wars Legacy from the beginning instead of jumping into volume 4 on MU, it's been about a year since i started the series and i remember that Jedis were involved.

Dear lord I've been reading so many comics over the past few days. Some off recommendations in this thread and a few new random pulls from well reviewed series' on roundup.

Black Science was amazing. You were all right, you were all so right!!! *sobs* I should've known as much and just picked this up after enjoying Low and loving the shit out of Deadly Class. For whatever reason I didn't so thanks to the oft mentions or I might've missed out on this red hot biz. The immediate captivation Remender pulls off with his character writing, and narration in particular was the big draw for me. The insight into each characters mind with the regular narrator shifting has been amazing each and every time. Kadir's possibly the most compelling of the bunch. Also the fucking art... I could go on for ages but everyone who's read it already knows. If you haven't, become enlightened.

The Manhattan Projects was really cool. You were all kinda right, you were all so kinda right!!! I really enjoy the conspiratorial revisionist history sci-fi pulp. But it took a little bit to heat up fully. I'd say I was truly invested by maybe chapter 7 (besides loving what a lunatic Oppenheimer is). Some of that apprehension might've been the art. I'm still not feeling the art very much. I've grown to accept it and there are particular aspects that have impressed (backgrounds, composition for some scenes). It's just, ugh, those wide scratchy faces and the range of emotion and gestural expression is seriously lacking. Why does everyone have the same huge ass round nose?

Whatever, though, I don't wanna rag on that business too hard. The Oppenheimer civil war was amazing and when the MP goes full renegade against all the different political institutions was some of the best "big dumb fun" I've read in comics. I love how essentially everyone's a complete asshole and there's no one to root for. It's just who can be the most fascinating piece of shit. This wasn't quite the next Wicked + Divine, Deadly Class or Southern Bastards for me personally but I definitely enjoyed the hell out of it.

Started reading Lazarus. It's definitely some red hot action atm. I've only just finished the first TBP, though. So all I'll say is so far the world building is fantastic as is the art. Love how the artists uses black fills, a lot of the panels almost look like stenciled photographs. Super cool.

Saw some great reviews for Wayward and started reading that. I'm digging it and I'm definitely intrigued to see its mystery unfold. The narration can be a bit dry at times. There's a lot of attention going into the representation of Japan but the main protag lived in Ireland her whole life ("I grew up heavily immersed in both cultures" "A life of rice and potatoes as dad would say") and I'd expect that to color her narration/perspective a bit more noticeably. It kinda only comes through in her red hair. Mostly generic "I'm in a new place!!!" type reactions. A bit of it even comes off slightly weeb-ish. It could be a knit-pick but I'd have like to have seen a bit more specificity in the culture shock.

Really cool comic, though, minor qualms aside. 7th chapter just came out and it was definitely my favorite so far.

Also read Giant Days, two issues of Hexed, Space Riders (which got inexplicably wonderful reviews) and Pretty Deadly. This post already got way too long on me but I'd recommend checking out Giant Days and Pretty Deadly. Oh god, and I totally forgot I started reading The Fade Out right before making this post. Soooooo maaannnny coooomiiiccsssss.

Yeah the current run on Catwoman after Nocenti is fantastic. A great Selina story.

Does Ireland? That explains it.

Yeah we do, but I thought it didn't apply to comics because they are technically considered magazines here, which are taxed at the higher 23% VAT rate (yes Americans, our sales tax is TWENTY THREE PERCENT).

COMICS! |OT| May 2015. Remember remember that book by Remender.

You need to check out Fear Agent if you haven't already. Sounds like it's perfect for you.

There are some pretty deep cuts in that
Anti Monitor
spread in Justice League #40. Tons of Legionnaires, including Chlorophyll Kid, Lol.

Hoozah! IST shipped my Lesbian BDSM+Anthropomorphic Duck order! The other one remains unshipped for now, but that's okay. It'll come soon enough, I'd imagine.
