Dolphin - Emulating Wii and Gamecube Games

I want to try Xenoblade anyone have a config setup for Graphics & 360 Gamepad?

For the graphics config I noticed that "Store EFB Copies to Textures Only" and "Fast Depth Calculation" had to be on for my computer to run it at 30fps. For the enhancements tab it all depends on your hardware in your computer but I did notice that "Per-Pixel Lighting" improved the lighting for the game. I used a wiimote for the controls so I unfortunately don't know about the 360 config.

So I'm currently playing GX on dolphin, but the controls are fucking ass with an x360 pad, my joystick isn't in perfect condition so it sometimes does weird shit
I got the Wii U gamecube adapter so I thought maybe I can play it with that, but apparently you need a zadig driver thing. Turns out the official site to get it is down so I'm kinda stuck there, anybody can help me out ? Thanks.

Also if somebody got a "noob guide" to GX, I didn't play it a lot back then so I'm pretty trash lol

How are you getting 6X? Mine only goes up to 4. Are you using D3D or Open GL (which is more recommended?)

Any other settings I should tick in the Enhancements, Hacks or Advanced tab that may boost performance/quality?

Also, is there a way to set up a game-by-game shortcut so I can launch individual games as Steam shortcuts through Big Picture Mode?

Beyond those questions, the only thing I still haven't figured out is properly closing Dolphin. It still freezes whenever I hit ESC.

I use a program called "ice" for that. Very easy to set up and it even creates an own category in the library for your emulated games.

Give me 10min, I'll boot up my PC and upload zadig for you.

Found a HD pack for the game, DAM the game looks so good with it.

Guys I really messed something up. Anywho I googled this to the moon and back.

I am trying to use my xbox 360 (wireless) and it is recognized in the program setup but ingame it doesn't.

Things I have done:

  • Background Input
  • Port 1: Standard Controller

What am I missing? Keep in mind KBM still works ingame but my controller doesn't.

What game are you trying to play? Are you attempting to play a Wii game that doesn't support GameCube controllers by any chance?

How can I tell? Should it say on the case?

**Did a quick google says classic controller works. This isn't the same as a GCpad right?

It is easier to help you if you post what games you are having issues with but yes the controller information should be on the box on the back cover. Classic controller is not the same thing as a GameCube controller. If you want to use an emulated classic controller you need to set that up separately in Dolphin.

I am trying to find it in settings. Game is Rune Factory Frontier.

**Think I found it. Classic under Wiimote conifg > extension

Thing is it doesn't see my controller...

*Got it working..you actually helped +1

I selected Gamepad in the wiimote config (left the wiimote buttons default to KB) than I setup the classic extension.

Set it as emulated Wiimote and then in the configuration window set extension to Classic and configure that. You should be good to go then.

Edit: If Dolphin isn't detecting your controller that is a different issue. What controller are you using?

So I could play GX with the gamecube adapter. I thought the game controlled poorly before but actually the x360 pad is just that atrocious on dolphin. Gamecube pad controls super well it's ridiculous.

Now to get good on that game. Just unlocked diamond cup, doing fine so far, one or two tracks are absolute hell though  and one or two are a snorefest

Has anybody gotten Rebel Strike running well? If so what build and settings? I've got an i5 3770k overclock to 4.2ghz and it really chugs during sections, but worst of all there's no rhyme or reason for it. When I turn on settings that should supposedly make it run faster it runs slower and vice versa.

So playing some more RFF and read you can knock on doors shacking a nun-chuck. Is there a way to set this up while still using my xbox controller as a CC? Like maybe use arrows keys/move mouse?

I now have a slightly better laptop than I used to have and OMG I can finally run Xenoblade Chronicles.

It's still a work laptop so it has low tier hardware (2,5 I3, 8Gb of ram and some crappy Intel Graphics 4000 integrated card) but I can get it running at 1.5X resolution which is fine by me. I'm just really happy I can finally play it.
So far it's pretty awesome, love the art direction, combat system and specially the music

But it does have one minor annoyance and I was wonderding if there are some settings I can alter to fix it:
The game runs at locked 30fps BUT every now and then it will just freeze for like a second and then go back to running perfectly fine. It happens both during both gameplay and cutscenes. Playing around with some settings didn't seem to help.

PS: Also is it me or does Shulk have a blurrier face than the other characters?

Question what is the best way to do wiimote & nunchuck emulation? I don't have a bt adapter and such to use my actual hardware.

Have you checked the settings in the wiki?

I went to try OpenGL and I get this

How to I get nvida driver not to force msaa?

Have you checked the Nvidia control panel?

It could be a shader cache issue. Dolphin has a known problem where sometimes shader cache generation can cause stuttering. It will go away after playing for a while if that is the case.

Just change the controller extension from classic to nunchuk. You will have to remap the controls to both the Wiimote and nunchuk though if you haven't set those up already.

I don't have an actual wiimote & chuck attached to my PC. Sorry but this is really confusing >.<

You can get a USB bluetooth adapter for like 5 bucks.

I have to find one in the native tongue here (Taiwan).

I don't need a sensor bar?

You can emulate them just like you're doing with the classic controller. You don't need the actual hardware (aside from MotionPlus which can't be emulated properly).

So somehow I can have wiimote & chuck set to my xbox controller? how does the motion thing work than?

Just read it. That 60 fps Sonic Colors hack they featured is nice. I guess they are OK with hacks as long as it doesn't break Dolphin.

They aren't okay with modifying the emulator itself to facilitate per game hacks. This 60 FPS Sonic Colors mod actually runs without modifying the emulator whatsoever. In fact you can even do the same thing with a Wii instead of using an emulator aside from the fact that the original hardware isn't fast enough to run the game at 60 FPS.

I bought one of these third party GameCube controllers for my Wii U, but I'd like to use it with Dolphin.

Is there any way to actually get it working as a classic controller via GlovePIE or anything so that I can use the analog sticks properly, or am I stuck just having it emulate a keyboard?

Isn't that just a GameCube controller? You need a GameCube USB adapter if so. I don't understand how GlovePIE is going to work with that or why you would want to emulate it as a keyboard.

Oh. So it hooks up to a Wiimote then?

Yeah, it plugs directly into a Wiimote. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any scripts to get the buttons and sticks working properly. The only one I've been able to find just has everything mapped to the keyboard.

Does it not work with a synced real Wiimote? If not, try http://www.wiinupro.com and then map your real classic controller to an emulated classic controller.

Since that's technically a classic controller, you need it attached to a wii remote and you need that wii remote to be connected to your pc via bluetooth.

How do you use an extension plugged into the Wiimote?

I totally forgot about WiinUPro. I actually use that for my Pro controller. I'll give it a try.

I figured it out. WiinUSoft actually emulates Xinput with WIimotes and Classic Controllers, too, so I'm just using that.

Ok guys, some help please.

Yesterday I opened dolphin and noticed all my settings had reset to default. Ok, no big issue, I just set everything as it was before and decded to continue paying the game. The thing is, the game was suddenly running like crap, the exact same areas that just a day before I was playing at locked 30fps were now running at low 20's FPS and closer to 15 during battle which obviously made it unplayable. I decided to restart the PC but it didn't help.

It was late and I decided I'd just try again tomorrow. So today I went to :c/user/dolphin and deleted the "config" folder and the "shader-something" folders to see if it helped. And indeed it did help a lot, the game is now back at a playable state. The thing is, I still notice more framedrops than before, I used to only get them rarely (mostly during some boss battles) but now I'm getting them frequently during regular fights (again, in areas that I had already fully explored without seeing framerate issues)

Any idea what the issue might be? I think windows installed an update at some point though I don't think it's related.
I want to just delete dolphin and download it again but I need to know which filed I have to keep to not lose my save data (not the save states but rather the in game save data).

Any advice?
Thx

If you deleted the shaders folder then it has to rebuild the shader cache as you play which would explain the frame drops.

It should rectify itself over time as it builds up the shader cache.

I have a dual-monitor setup, but whenever dolphin runs, it always displays it on my second screen. I've been trying to find a way to get it to display on my primary screen though.

Anybody know how to tell Dolphin which monitor to use?

So does the Metroid Prime games work now?

I'm not really sure what you mean. They've worked for a long time (with the right settings).

As far as I'm aware, they still require EFB to RAM in order for the visors to work, so the performance requires good hardware if you intend to go far above native resolution, but they generally run fine otherwise.

The main glitch is that the screen slightly widens and letterboxes after the shader cache is updated (loading a new area/effect). There are certain builds with alterations to the speed up the cache that can be used to avoid this.

There was this black bar bug which occurred.
