~60fps at High or locked 30 at Ultra with some tweaks? Not sure what to choose.

60 fps no questions asked. I will never understand people who choose Ultra over High considering how 60 fps High looks gorgeous compared to Ultra 30 fps. Speaking in general terms that is. In most games, I find the differences between High and Ultra negligible, while 30 fps boost makes for an incredible difference.

Need help,

I'm getting ' this content cannot be selected at this time' when I click on the game on PSN On PS4. It's the 7th of May 1am.

If you do it and I can proof-read it and fix any sentences :) (Seriously though, it'd be nice to change from development, I think I'm starting make bugs rather fix them...)

I'd earlier suggested

Project CARS |OT| Tracks Of My Tiers

but after today's screen-tearing shit-storm some wag would undoubtedly lol it up as

Project CARS |OT| Tracks Of My Tears

which still kind of works on several levels, I guess..!

I feel like iv'e done the wrong thing but iv'e gone for the XB1 version as it was only £32.27 at Gameseek, if i like the game and they lose the ghosting effect on PS4 i will get that version when it comes down in price.

Feels weird having to wait for my PC version to unlock when Steam already has 163 hours logged for me... would have thought Team Members get early access but ah well.

Not long now!

can always click "Forgotten your username or password?" on the sign-in page to see if you can recover it or make a new password

My trouble is my pc is auto signed in, but I was hung up on the dumb Playfire password. Had no clue what that was, so I reset that...but now to fully get in, I need my regular password. I can't see where I'd sign out or anything. This is weird.

Playing the retail XO version right now.

Three hours in. Pretty fun, but there are a fair few bugs.

  • Kart steering has a mind of its own. Turn a corner. Recenter the steering for the straight. 10% chance that the driver will do the opposite and INCREASE the angle of the steering, putting you into the wall. Tried three controllers, just in case. All do the same.
  • Raced in 20 events so far. Yet to see an AI driver crash or damage their vehicle, despite tyre wear and mechanical damage being on.
  • Can't take part in any events that I've won an invitation to, as I don't get the invitation email until AFTER the event has taken place.
  • Kart racing at certain times is pretty much impossible due to the framerate dropping like a stone when you drive toward the sun. But then you take on the same event again (same time of day, field size, etc) and it runs much more smoothly. Absolutely baffling.
I will rescind this for now. Uninstall/reinstalled, and now everything is super-smooth. Could be something to do with suspend/resume? Not sure.
  • Was racing in an event and suddenly went from 2nd to 12th as I crossed the finish line. Turns out my lap wasn't counted for some reason. No on-screen warning or anything. Hadn't even been off the track, as my lap time was still valid. Did three more laps and was told I was still on lap 1. This has now happened SIX times in less than 40 races.
  • Blew the engine in my kart. "Retire to pit box" was greyed out, so all I could do was quit the entire event or restart. Not particularly realistic. Note, this is the only time any actual damage has been displayed by my vehicle, despite multiple crashes.
  • Allegedly I have a pit crew. They've said "Your team mate is in 2nd going for a podium place" once over the radio over the course of 20 races. Literally haven't said a word other than that.
  • Oh, and if you don't download the Day One patch you can't play in anything other than quick race mode. So if your Xbox One isn't connected to the internet...tough luck, enjoy your new coaster. I hear the PS4 version is the same.
  • Races with rolling starts often give you control in the middle of a bend. Not ideal. In a similar vein if you pit, you don't get control back as you pass the white speed limiter line. You get it back randomly a few seconds later. Very annoying, especially if the pit exit is near a bend.
  • Got the achievement for having less than a 0.2s reaction time at the lights. Held down the button as the second set of reds came on. Kept it held until the race began. Achievement popped. First race.
  • Got the achievement for going from 100km/h to 0km/h in less than two seconds by turning left off the grid (in a 125cc kart, I might have been doing 30km/h) and clipping another driver. Didn't even stop, but got the achievement anyway.
  • Started in Tier 8 (karting) and finished 2nd in the UK kart championship. 2nd again in the next season. Third season, won the UK championship and the Dubai championship (only two that were open to me.) Only option for next season is to do karting again. What do I have to do to progress?!? (Now clarified by sueil)

Like I say, fun to play but the bugs are kinda sticking out like a sore one at the moment.

It's $37.49 on GMG with their VIP pricing (menu at the top that says VIP in green)...can't use vouchers though on VIP deals

edit: beaten like my AMD card will be later on today :(

When I put it in my cart, it still says 49.99. Am I missing something? My brain is just fried today, apparently. Oops, never mind, see it now.

I can't remember doing the VIP thing, but after I refreshed the page, Project Cars showed up there. Before I used the search and only the regular price showed up, since I didn't see it on the VIP page. I'm having all kinds of issues today. Anyways, bought and pre downloading on Steam. Thanks for the help, fellas.

There is only one championship that really matters and is the one at the end of the year/season. The rest are basically filler. So for Karts it would be the world Kart One Championship. You need to win that one. After that you will get invites to higher tiers. The later tiers repeat the same thing by the way. So you might have the choice between doing US or Europe or Asia. This just pad out the season til the second half the year when you get the world championship series. It's one of the things I don't like about career mode. Also one of the reasons why I think the Formula A career path is the best is because it doesn't have any of the bullshit of the others. One year long season no mini seasons. 19 races in 19 different locations no sprint/main races. No gimmicks either like mandatory pit stops for tire changes even when racing 3 laps. They one single race per weekend is also nice and long at 100% sim the first one I did so far was at Dubai which was 52 laps.

I'm getting conflicted reports but let's assume you don't have an Internet connection, are you able to play more than just the 1 track, 1 car, 1 race?

Thanks for the info!

It could be a mistake. It would be nice if someone with the game can confirm this.

I have, and am again confirming that this is the case. Without the D1P (on Xbox One at least), you can only play a quick race.

I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it to be sure.

I have no idea how that sort of thing gets past certification, unless it's done on purpose to ensure that nobody is glitching through career mode or anything.

Thank you! Then it should be the same on PS4. Are SMS going totally nuts?

Apparently team members won't get the full game? That's pretty odd, considering it was the only tier that resembled a normal price for a game (€25) - the rest was over 100€. And you couldn't upgrade afterwards.

Is it possible to request a refund? I know they said there wouldn't be a time limit on refunds but it might be different now.

I had fun playing it, but I also had a loooot of issues and contributed with a lot of feedback. €25 is not fair at all.

Man there are indeed...a odd number of bugs I wasn't expecting. I am also Xbox Retail version.

For me, as an audio guy, I am noticing a lot of sampling errors in replays and 1-2 during actual races where the game really does seem to dislike lined up audio sources and startd to mix them at really low update speeds. This results in a audio chudder where 1 car's engine is heard for 1/30th of a second, then the next, then the next then the next, and it starts to almost sound like echo but its just all over the place.

In races it happens far less but has now happened a couple time and it really is just discordant and absolutely painful to hear.

Also ya getting the same odd achievement issues as the other player with some achievements popping where it assuredly should not have.

Uhg.

The content featured on disc is probably missing some code or assets required to make the game work, which are provided by the day one patch. Borderlands: The Handsome Collection on the Xbox One did a similar thing IIRC where the game wouldn't work without the day one patch installed.

But how can something like this get through certification? The game you get is nothing like the game they advertise on the box! If you have no stable internet connection you can`t play it as they advertise it. That`s a whole new level for a game dev/publisher.

Full member tier was 60 euros I think and get's the full game.

It isn't the first title. Try "The Evil Within" without the day one patch - it runs at about 10fps, and is unplayable. They just shipped the unfinished game on disc, basically.

I agree, I mean it's making me almost not want to buy it on day one and support something insane like that. I seriously hope they have something on the package indicating this because they will be getting some flack from consumers.

Is this issue present for both XBONE and PS4 versions?

Yes, this was equally embarassing!

DigitalFoundry says it applies to both platforms

Full Member was 45€, but it was added much later and soon after that you couldn't upgrade. I would upgrade if I could, but when I saw the new tier it was too late.

They didn't even send an email or anything, they just assume you read the forums.

"Hey you know that game you helped us fund? Yeah you're gonna have to pay full price to play it now" Ok, thanks for letting me know.
