'How Did This Get Made?' podcast appreciation thread

All I remember about the movie is the song "Deep! Blue! Sea! My head(possibly heart) is like a sharks fin!" and Samuel Jackson's death scene being hilarious.

Nope, it's his hat. His hat is like a shark's fin. I sat through the credits at the theater just because that song was another level bad/good. I hope to god that the HDTGM crew talks about the song.

and that 2nd picture is hilarious.

Have you seen the music video? It goes even further.

Watching Safe Haven to listen to the show. Its a slog. I have to break it up into chunks to endure it. And since I'm a Sadist, I plan to watch Deep Blue Sea later today.

Heads up: Deep Blue Sea was just added to Netflix today.

And I'm embarrassed to say it that while Safe Haven started off pretty slow, it ended up not being that bad. I didn't see that 'twist' coming at the end either.

These are not bad movies. I also like Deep Blue Sea and I'm glad that most of them recommended it.

Con Air definitely asks the question how did this get made.

A white Army Ranger in the deep south gets a murder rap for defending his wife against multiple armed assailants? Now if the lead was Samuel Jackson, sure, I'd believe that.

It's still one of my favorite action movies ever but the premise has always bugged me.

I like that during the Deep Blue Sea episode that they kind of slip in a confirmation that they'll be doing Furious 7. Hopefully it's the next movie.

I wonder if the star of Torque will be there for that?

Watched DBS yesterday. That movie was bonkers - lots of close ups of doors being shut or open and lots of biblical non-sequiturs from LL Cool J.

Wow at them almost killing the entire cast in that scene. And holy shit at the line "They couldn't Fast and Furious 7 it".

Edit:
Overall this was a great episode. Great audience participation and PFT and Evan Goldberg were great in this. Live episodes continue to be the best episodes.

The funny thing I remember about the music video is that I'm pretty sure it was one of the episodes of that MTV making the music video show. That just seems odd to me.

Yeah I was shocked when they killed off SLJ cause I thought he was the star of the movie. And then I was surprised again when the woman was killed off. I figured it'd be her and Thomas Jane at the end.

I haven't seen this movie in forever. It is still as good as I remember it lol. I loved it. Haven't listened to the episode yet.

Also, fuck yes, they are coming to NYC. I'm going for sure.

Sleepaway Camp is also on YouTube.

Sweetz I also rented Staying Alive too. I watched Monkey Shines. The first hour is terrible. Almost turned it off. The sex scene made me glad I didn't. So bad lol

Just added these bad boys to the Netflix list:

Godzilla
Leprechaun in the Hood
Wild Wild West
Face Off

Also, I'm re-watching Con-Air right now. Wow is Cage's accent bad at the start of the movie. Thankfully he abandons it fairly early.

I guess some people at the Deep Blue Sea live show said Paul asked the audience if they wanted them to wait for Adam Scott to do Furious 7 or get a replacement and most said wait. So looks like it may be a little wait for the Furious 7 episode.

I think he said in the last mini-ep that they were gonna wait until May when Adam returns from Australia.

Sorry for the double post but the Lake Placid episode is now up. Guest = Nate Corddry.

EDIT: Oh man - I was taking a walk while listening to this and I had to stop and stand for a bit to compose myself when Jason was talking about the feminine napkin stuff. "Whose gonna sop this up for me?!" I was laughing so hard I literally couldn't walk. I don't think that's ever happened to me before.

EDIT 2: As someone who has worked for Hershey, I'm mortified that people call it 'Reesies Peecies' haha

Next episode is The Island of Dr. Moreau. I remember watching it around the time it came out and even my shitty, young brain back then recognized it was next level bonkers. I can't wait to watch it again.

Also, I'd love an "I Was There Too" episode about it because I've heard some wild stories about Brando's epic belligerence and Kilmer being messed up. It must've been a fun time working on that set.

Do we know if they are doing the dubbed version of Hercules in New York movie?

I'm hyped as hell for Saturdays show. I will try and take pictures.

Oh I had no idea they were doing that movie. Good to know. And yeah some pictures would be great. Hopefully a) Paul, Jason, and June are all there and b) you get to meet them.

For the live shows, they are doing Hercules in NY and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II.

I hope all three are there. I would be happy with meeting just Jason.

Island of Dr. Moreau episode is up.

Also, I just listened to the Stephen Toblowsky episode of I Was There Too and he briefly talks about Glimmer Man. According to him, around the time they were to shoot the scene where he gets killed by Segal's character, Segal had some epiphany and decided he didn't want to be portrayed as killing people in movies anymore. Stephen convinced him that by being killed his character could be released from a serial killer's body and he could go to heaven and Segal went for that .. temporarily. He mentioned a few months after shooting ended he was called back to ADR lines suggesting his character was killed and was ok so he was recording stuff like "its just a flesh wound!" and "I'll be back!" even though in the movie his characters chest basically explodes from gunfire.

Man, that was downright amazing. I was dying laughing from start to finish. Jason is just how I pictured him to be, an asshole lol. June is gorgeous. Her facial expressions during the show were great too.

I will definitely be going to another live show, next time they come back. I took pictures, but my camera sucks in low lighting, so they came out crappy. I'm going to see how my friends photos came out.
