Well most of S2 is Hachiman learning not only that he was wrong but why. It's forced him to do a hard self-correction.

Realizing that you're a major hypocrite isn't exactly a soft realization.
That's true, but I mean, it's why I still think Oreki is still probably the most well handled version of this character. I feel like Batman exists in a happy middle between the subtle apathy-turned-engagement of Oreki and the Baudelairian Shit-eating of Kasuga.

Funny enough I was like "we havent seen enough sensei this season" and lo and behold, the first half of the episode is all her. Which was awesome. Though I need to know what work she does on the side to be driving a freakin Aston Martin around. Its also fun to see Hachiman turn on his inner stud without even realizing it, haha.

Also in the ending,
the way the 3 are standing are like how they sit in the club room, with Yui and Yukino super close to each other and Hachiman a little farther away.
Its like things are finally back the way they're supposed to be.
You are right about that last part. I am excited for what's going to happen from now on, I mean it's pretty clear that
Hachiman has finally realized that he needs to change
, so I wonder how the last few episodes are going to be.

As I wrote this I realized that this is almost ending... Another 2-3 year wait until season 3. Shit.

They're also different types of shows. I mean we didn't have Chitanda idolizing that lazy behaviour on Oreki's part. Nor did we have anyone doing a hard check on Oreki either.

Oreki's development was more internally spurred while Hachiman's is coming from outside parties.

I would also say that yea as a work becomes more cynical of human nature, the harder it is for a person to change.

Oreki had Irisu, which caused his own breakdown once he realized how little he knew about the world.

And, I mean, Batman has Saika and Saki... and arguably everyone else he's helped. Even Hayama, who is his Joker, has this strange supportive relationship with him (as evidenced by that terribly conceived double date thing).

Anyway, I think all of those shows - that aired in the same year, incidentally - deal with social alienation as a broad theme, and the coping mechanisms that people can have in an attempt to respond to that alienation. They all tried martyrdom of one kind or another.

Golden Time 12-21:
OK, that was a shocking change of events, like WTF? Really, WTF just happened in ep.21? I mean, there has been a ton of rama throughout, but that was not expected one bit, so now it's explaination time. I know whe is just trying to protect herself, right... right? WTF.

Hayama is mostly critical of Hikigaya's methods and lack of self-worth.

Hayama is mostly critical of Hikigaya's methods and lack of self-worth.
But Hayama sees him as also reflecting his own flaws back at him. I'm stretching the Batman metaphor extremely thin, but the reason why I think of him as Joker is because they're ultimately two sides of the same coin.
Hayama may detest his methods, but he wants to do the same things - he just can't stand doing them.

I'm actually really excited to see
how Yukino and Yui react to Mr. flailing hands guy
. That should be a lot of fun. The season will probably end after they wrap up the Christmas event, kind of like the cultural festival from season 1.

Yeah that will be a brutal wait, but I think I'll start reading the LN to fill in anything I've missed. I know there are a lot of subplots that are totally cut out and some character arcs as well so hopefully that'll keep me busy.

Odd that funimation site is saying I cant watch videos because of my country, yet works on my phone. Perhaps my ISP here in durham is wrong or what not. In any case, can still watch over 4G LTE...

Seraph of the End Episode 2 (engdub)

Love the engdub, they made Shinoa call Yoichi Yu's lover, hilarious scene when he was squirming on him.

Think they made Guren sound like Karasuma in the Assassination Classroom dub.

Yup wonder if it'll rub off on them just like it did to Hachi lol.

Yeah I am thinking of doing the same once the anime ends, and read up until where it ends. I really don't look forward to the wait... I mean at this point we all know there will be a season 3 right?

I've watched the whole of Golden Time when it ran but I remember shit. Funny that I remember Toradora.

Golden Time for some reason stopped being a good watch for me. Almost like a chore. Not that it was bad but was meh. Toradora was absolutely spectacular though :).

I really like Toradora, but for some reason that ending still pisses me off to no end. They should have ended the series halfway through that last episode at the
scene when they return home
but instead that last 10-15 minutes had to happen.

Idk if you are gonna love it or hate it. The ending is... Quite something lol. Interested in hearing your opinions once you finish, I'll share mine as well.

What a spectacular episode. There are a lot of unspoken actions that dominate the story: Hikigiya not sitting in his usual chair but instead facing Yukino and Yuighama, Hikki holding back tears and emotions, an act he visibly has never done before. The end of this episode implies that they still don't know what Hikki wants yet but he clearly wants to be with them to figure it out. The animation was really nice and it captured the movements of the characters perfectly for the scenes they were in. Even though this felt like a big episode, I'm guessing the Christmas event itself will be the true climax in this season with Hikki finally realizing what genuine thing he wanted.

Yeah, I would recommend everyone interested in SNAFU pick up the novels once this season is done. The anime constantly skips all the Saki interactions with Hachiman which are all pretty good. Other than that, it's a good adaption.

The anime will probably end at volume 9 and either end with anime only content or animate some side stories.

I would still consider this a romantic comedy though. It's just that the comedy is now only in the side stories and interactions with the side characters, which are mostly cut in the anime for pacing reasons. The main trio have humorous banter as well, but due to plot reasons, it's been absent this season. Should be back by the end of the season.

Splatoon comes out in a week, and then squids will take over the world. So in preparation there's a special show I need to watch.

Ika Musume 1

The invasion from the ocean as begun. Marine life shall take their revenge on humanity. Some day. Later. Probably not today. Ika Musume is one of the cuter invaders I've seen. I for one welcome our new squid overlord. The family is good too. Eika is the normal one with realistic (anime) reactions to the whole squid coming to take over the world. Won with pointing out we have tanks. Ika should probably try and do her research next time. Takeru is a fun boy that wants to hang out with the new girl. Seems like he will be an excellent spy in the future. Chizuru is the caring member of the family. Very caring. And dangerous. I guess we don't need tanks when we have ninjas who work in beach restaurants. Thankfully Ika can use her actually impressive powers for good. Like carrying the dishes. And making cheap squid ink spaghetti. This is going to be a good one.

So with MCM Comic Con going on right now in the UK, I thought that I'd post some of the updates that we've got out of there so far. I'll update as more comes out I guess if people find that helpful. These updates are from today's Anime Limited panel and come from ukanime

Anime Limited:
  1. New Licenses:
    • Sword Art Online II - DVD/BD, Four Parts. Volume 1, August 2015.
    • Fusé: Memoirs Of A Huntress - DVD/BD, August 2015.
    • Hint at Durarara!! X2 announcement over the weekend.
  2. Updates:
    • Baccano: A weird technicality with assets has caused the delay, it should be resolved soon. Should be released before the October 2015 London Comic Con.
    • Samurai Flamenco: Will be out for the first half at least.
    • Full Metal Panic Ultimate Edition: Aiming for a release date before or around October's London Comic Con.
    • Tokyo Ghoul:Entirely uncut.
  3. Miscellaneous:
    • Thoughts on picking up shows with "questionable content" in UK? It's down to what BBFC rating it'll get, as long as it gets an 18 it's fine.
    • The forthcoming Prison School may be difficult - other territories may not pick it up due to concerns about not being able to TV broadcast.
    • It's easier to choose whether to pick up something when it's based on an existing manga, as that can be used to gauge interest and quality.
    • Andrew Partridge shares his personal enjoyment of Death Parade (available streaming on Viewster). Andrew would love to do something with it!
    • Andrew would love to see Blood Blockade Battlefront streamed in the UK too, but nothing to report there either.
  4. Artwork:
    009 Re: Cyborg:
    Collector's Edition
    W9M7zwz.jpg

    (Stereoscopic 3D Included)

    Space Dandy Season 2:
    I31yyjI.jpg

(Contains art cards with all of the art used for the various volumes of the Japanese releases. Exclusive cover commissioned just for the UK.)

    Tokyo Ghoul:
    2F3BdOT.jpg

(The first season of Tokyo Ghoul will be released uncensored, and the Collector's Edition will contain a hard-cover book.)

    Sword Art Online II:

    Collector's Edition:

(The Collector's Edition of SAO II will include a 56-page booklet with original content as well as content from the Japanese release.)

Enjoy!

Weren't there supposed to be 2 more novels, I feel like I read that here. I am just hoping they decide to animate all novels if it is so. Even OVAs or a movie like Tamako Market would be cool.

It's good that he finally did though. I think the fact that he has been wrong for the majority of it and not realizing it is why I've had issues with S2 compared to S1.

I believe theres a Iroha side story in the LN's, which is supposed to be awesome. Would be nice to see if it was made into an OVA.

All this SNAFU talk is making me seriously regret not diving into Season 2 immediately after finishing S1

Are you waiting until S2 is done to dive in? Personally I enjoyed giving each episode time to soak in before heading into the next. Otherwise I probably would have missed a lot of details that made future episodes more enjoyable.

I wouldn't be against OVAs here and there with side stories between the end of S2 and S3.
There's a side novel that just has some side stories, but those kind of things tend to up in OVA or special episodes, e.g. the Wedding Test episode from Season 1. The author has said that the series is almost over though, so I don't know if the plan is to write enough material for a third season or not.
These would go perfectly with what I just said, OVAs spread out between the 2-3 years that is going to take for all of the source material to be out and adapted to anime form.

I know. It gets insufferable. But Menma keeps it together somehow.
The show has a big heart and a tiny brain.

Understatement.

You pointed out the main flaws with the show. Basically all the characters but Menma needed to grow the fuck up and up to the very end, they really didnt. But ultimately the shows heart was bigger than its brain and it ended very beautifully.

It is a bit strange, but the tone is about to shift dramatically. Emphasis on drama.
This show can hit very hard. I really like it a lot. Are you watching subbed or dubbed?

Yep another Yuki Kajiura masterpiece shows itself.
I love the song too. The opening is honestly pretty great too.
You picked a great way to describe it. It has a ton of heart that is emotional but it's executed poorly. The ending was great but most of the show was mediocre with bad teen drama.

It sort of depends how important that side material is to the overall plot though. I suppose I could see it being something you'd want in the series proper.

Nana ''Hatchi'' Must one of the most insufferable, unlikeable main character ever, if not the most.

So this is the relationship between panties and human extinction. Kosaki was never my favorite character - I prefer Chitoge or Marika - but having her family expanded out, and with Ayaneru at that, does shake up the dynamics of the show in a way they haven't been for a while. Misunderstandings should be careful in how they ride the line between comedy and being frustrating, and I think these were handled alright. Having Paula back at school also shakes things up.

But next week is going to be wonderful. Magical girls in any form are one of my favorite things about anime.

Oh well, Damn. I mean damn. It was worth it after all That's what I'm talking about...! I feel stupid for thinking the way I did yesterday now, lol. That was not what I expected at all from the way the second season was going previously. I should always remember from all the shows I've seen so far that
the childhood friend always loses!
; it's always been like that. You guys all had me thinking something totally different was going to happen, and well, the director/writer had me thinking the same thing as well, so I can't blame you guys; it's my own crazy mind, lol. I must say though, other than
his memories "ghost" handing him the ring as they merged, I'll let the "ghost" stuff pass because is was more symbolism throughout and not a gimick like I thought it could be.
Also, at the end,
I understand why Linda showed up on the bridge as he ran towards Koko
, it was showing how he allowed himself to accept his past and fully move on to the direction he really wanted to go in life
with the best girl Koko
Overall, I feel the ending was handled really well, ya'll know I'm a sucker for a
happy ending
It really was a beautiful moment and made me feel good, so dispite some of the fiiller crap throughout the seasons to completely confuse the crap out of you at times, it was really well done and I'm glad
Koko and Banri accepted each other faults and will move along together
Only thing I would have added at the end was either
Linda reaching out to Yana, which may have been implied at that ending part, but wasn't clear. Either way that frantic last few minutes were great.
Once again, I'm far too accepting and tolorant, but it was pretty damn good to finish this one.

Unfortunately with SNAFU the problem is at the end of the day it is an adaption. And assuming there would be enough extra content for a third season what would be the point if there weren't anymore books left to sell? If we assume that there is only 2 books left in the franchise until completion I think the best we could hope for is an extended OVA to finish the anime off with the possibility of cinema screenings that seem to be popular recently for that sort of thing.

I like how they spoil TG's Shironeki right there on the box. Especially weird since he has literally 4 minutes of screen time in the first season.

Ninja Slayer 6

How dastardly Hugeshuriken-san. Ninja Slayer-san just met his senpai and yet you didn't give them any time to get to know each other.

Blond girl still mia ...

JoJo SC 43

Mostly a fallout and setup episode. So Cool Ice can't see and
apparently can't even feel if he swallowed anything in his rolling ball mode. Why did he think he managed to kill Polnareff again ? And he completely forgot about his stand in the ending stages of the fight.

Well it seems that after long, long time we finally get to see Dio and his Stand that I've been hearing so much about. What's up with that heart in his getup though.

Wait i just read the summary of Classroom Crisis

With aims to one day reach out into the stars, humanity has colonized all the planets of the solar system. This story of young high school hopefuls is set in Fourth Tokyo in a Japanese Martian prefecture. Iris Shirasaki is a third year student/aspiring test pilot. Mizuki Sera is her peer/mechanic and Mizuki's brother Kaito is their homeroom teacher and the young director of the program developing their talents.

Martian again? and is Martian anime have to bundle with Amamiya Sora lol?

Come on, Amamiya again?

She may be shoved into a lot of voice acting positions, but I really like her voice. I mean her range is pretty good considering her roles for Touka (Tokyo Ghoul), Elizabeth (7 Deadly Sins), and Asselyem (Aldnoah Zero) sound different from each other. Plus her role for Isla (Plasic Memories) has been great. So I really don't mind her voicing a lot of roles.

I can't really see any reason to call Bell "overpowered", nor do I want to, as that takes on a whole host of connotations, some of which I'm not fond of. He did slay the Minotaur, bringing things full circle, but that doesn't make him better than Aiz. It means they're equals, and it was a protracted battle where he very nearly died. Thrilling and risky, but I want to look at it in more of a character growth moment. Without downplaying or insulting weakness, and basically, it's a pivotal moment, but I have a tough time finding the right angle to go at it from.

Bell's overpowered in the sense that he has triple XP enabled.

I just rewatched the ending again to make sure I did and didn't miss anything. I saw it all, it just wasn't needed in my opinion. Plus, the writer doesn't give the full impressions of what happens next.
We nkow she left to recultivate her "family" life but was that to get Riyuji's acceptance as they talked about at her parents house?
It just feels disjointed and incomplete. Sometimes we want it spelled out, by not just saying
I wanted to suprise you
but finish the scene and tell me what you are
surprising me for. Are you staying? Are they going to go get married now? What is the next step?
I was pissed he made us wait for that, lol. I guess you can call it a

It's the tone of the show also brings you down that path as well. That moreso that anything here. Everyone just said the ending was pretty meh, lol. I liked it.

Should I remove the picture?

Oh no. Don't think its necessary, especially since there has been a whole second season with that version of mc running around.

Just found it funny how they were willing to spoil the end of the entire first season right there on the box. I suppose wimp Kaneki has a lesser chance to move the necessary amount of discs.

I liked all of Golden Time. There's just a lot of grumbling on fan communities, man haha.

I like to think 2D-kun impressed Ms. Ultrasonic (who also got shafted) with his manliness and they were married with several children. That part just wasn't shown.

(The author's third work, a manga called Evergreen actually is just awful. I pray everyday that never gets an adaptation)

Well the way I see it...

The true ending basically reinforces the promise they made. Taiga
left to face her family problems head on rather than run away from them. Ryuji ahd done the same by accepting his mother once again. Taiga had already admitted her love to Ryuji and he obviously had reciprocated her feelings, but he had never been upfront with it as she had. Now with them reunited, he admits his love which basically means they are equals once again, the Tiger and Dragon. Taiga dealing with her family issues was basically her way of making herself equal to Ryuji too and the ending alludes to them finally being together, not necessarily marrying but definitely in a relationship.
