Just finished a big chunk of The Family Matters [huge quest spoiler - seriously, do not read if you haven't done this]
turned the botchling into a lubberkin and followed it to find out where Temara is
. Hooooooooly crap! This quest line is more satisfying than most full games. It starts right when you go to the inn at Velen, has ramifications for your choices down the line and parodies fetch quests and 'save the princess' tropes. It has detective'ish work. It has tons of feels. And some epic fights, too! [major enemy spoilers - again, don't read]
That Ciri gameplay was neat, especially with the werewolf, and the multiple wraith fight took me a handful of tries
. This quest line is deeper and more fleshed out than many entire games. If the game ended with this quest line, I think I would still walk away satisfied... but I know that I'm only still in the beginning of a long journey! Incredible!

Last player of the Big City players at Novigrad, a Squirrel merchant. You need to progress in the story and fight a certain some in Qwent one first to get acces to him.

Is that the high stakes tournament thing? Yeah, haven't started that yet.

Screw the open world, screw the quests, screw the combat.....

I'm only here for the Gwent!!!

gimmie all your cards, gimmie gimmie gimme.

Seriously though, damn Gwent is good fun, best game within a game ever, although it's fairly easy to cheese the AI players...

Biggest complaint right now; Novigrad needs a better map. Icons shouldn't come and go, and all the districts and areas should be labeled with lines indicating their boundries when viewing from the map screen. The city is too fucking big.

^^^^ this guy gets it...

and how far in the game are you? the AI players do become more challenging. I think the first actual challenge starts with Baron.

and yea, i realy wish projekt red would add a multiplayer component later where you can play other people online in Gwent. would be dope!

anyways, anyone know if messing around in these brothels will mess up your relationship status with either Yen or Triss (or both if you choose so) ?

Not massively far in, just done the Baron, I've not lost a game of Gwent yet, there is a tactic that seems to work pretty much all the time.

I wish they (or a fan) would make a browser based, or mobile app game of Gwent!

The Griffin and Bear armors seem nice, but I honestly wish there was a way to keep upgrading the Kaer Morhen armor you start with throughout the game. Seems like the Warrior's Armor is the end of it. :/

Gwent has sent us down a path to this, and I'm fine with that:

My god the quest-lines in this game are so fucking insane. I love how some of the quests have a unpredictable nature to them and gives off a organic feel to the game. I did the quest setting up
Dandelion's Caberet and it's taking me on a murder mystery!

I don't know how I feel about having such limited skills activated. Kind of wish they made it so that inactive skills still had some less effective buff associated with them.

I haven't even touched Gwent yet and I'm 30 hours in haha. I normally never bother with the mini games in open world games but this has definitely piqued my interest.

My Geralt is basically a professional Gwent player, all he does is go from town to town, village to village playing Gwent and buying cards.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
That feel when Act 1 is technically only over when you
complete the three "find ciri" arcs
and Act 2 is what follows after.

Well decided to mess with a bunch of stuff and try to get some different looks and such. I took Vivek's SweetFX pre-set and tweaked it as well as messed with a few other options. I think some of these test shots turned out pretty ok, for the area that I was in. Trying to get a photorealistic feeling

So guys, I'm at 58 hours played according to Steam, have TONS of side quests still to do in Velen area, and so many ? points left I don't know where to start. I have just finished the
Bloody Baron
quest line and am on my way to Novigrad for the first time...

Am I doing it right? At this rate I feel like I wont be nearing the end game for about another 100 hours... (as I think I am about 1/3 the way through).

This game is now 2nd most enjoyed rpg of all time after FF8.

Now if only Gwent cards have a purpose like Triple Triad cards had in FF8..

found it via reddit, could be useful

Nice, I was just trying to find my way back to Crippled Kates.

Now if only it had Triss house marked too.

Does anyone know the best way for hunting down or buying the rarest alchemy ingredients? Light and Dark Essence literally barely turn up in the game, I've seen not 1 noon wraith or dusk wraith outside of a Witcher contract, and you need buckets of each.

Ditto Ekimara Hide. Need about 10x more hides than I think there are Ekimaras in the game.

Haha amazing. I think when I start to wrap up in Velen, I'll dive in then. I want to prolong this game because as it stands, I don't want it to end. Normally 30 hours into an open world game I get bored of the sidequests and fetch quests and just blast through the story as quick as I can, and mop up after. Not with the Witcher 3 though!

This is by far one of the best open world games I've ever played.

Got my Griffin armor set. Just happened upon the crypts it was in while I was out following a lead a peasant I saved gave me. I like it. Medium armor (with decent resistances), gives something like +20% to all signs, compliments my melee-centric build nicely - in which I get my crits and AP from traits. I had all of the items to craft it but a "shirt". Had to track one down way back in White Orchard from the dwarf blacksmith.

Don't search, just progress in the story, there is no way around it.

Oh man, I should stop going around exploring and doing side stuff then. I've got around 47 hours clocked and I've only just now met
Zoltan and started looking for Dandelion on the main quest.

Yeah, not sure if it can upgraded further than that.
I'm still keeping it in my inventory, just in case lol.

just finished Witcher 2 Assassins of Kings
ready for Witcher 3 next week
gonna use a weight mod because FUCK YOU weight limit

Eh, it's not that bad tbh.
I really hated weight limit in W2 I installed the mod as soon as it's available, but not here. Weight is reasonable, and we can actually upgrade the weight limit with saddlebags. I've yet to get encumbered so far.

After a week of playing I can honestly say this is one of the best games I have ever played in 30 years of gaming.

I salute CD Projekt Red.

I said goddamn.

On an unrelated note, the screenshots I see here are blowing my mind. The Xbox One version is already very good looking, can't wait to douple dip on the PC version once I upgrade my GPU. Gonna lock myself in all over again.

I'm on vacation at the moment and will get to play on Monday, posts like this are making me really look forward to it.

Put off Skellige as long as I could, did alot of the larger missions (that I know of) in the Velen landmass.

Sweet Jeebus, did 5000 people work on this game?

No idea. I'm level 16 I'm trying to complete every sidequest before moving on with the plot....AND I KEEP FINDING MORE SIDEQUESTS JESUS.

I think I just soiled myself a little.

To be fair I've been advised Act 2 and 3 are much shorter, not just because of the main quests but also perceptually because most people will spend a ton of time in the open worlds during Act 1.

a question for the ones who know witcher's books

so...did geralt knew that he was gonna get a child when he used the law of surprise to get ciri?
i searched for it on a wiki and the way it was explained,it kinda always ends up with someone getting someone else's child

Pretty much my first view of Skellige.

"Destination Skellige" must be the most 'postponed' quest in the entire game.
I've had my questlog defaulting back to it after completing another side quest for like 30-40h of playtime now.

I'm loving this game so far - being able to kill lvl 22 monsters at lvl 16 by just properly dodging (and abusing Quen) is extremely satisfying.
Going for the "kill 2 contracts without using Signs, Potions, Oils or Mutagens" Trophy was a lot of fun.
Unforgiving fights, constant dodging, being punished for getting cocky / impatient with 1 minute loading times. - is this what Bloodborne feels like?

At this point my biggest nemesis is the scorch card

Wild Hunt my ploughing arse

just realize that most enemy decks have one and bait it out. Be sure to never play one (let alone both) of your synergy cards (like the '8' trebuchets or the '5' archers of the northern realms) if it'd be the strongest card on the deck.

I've found gwent to be barely a challenge ever since i got both spy cards. The biggest challenge was beating the B
loody
B
aron
.
2 spy cards, 2 revive cards, "clear weather" Leader ability has yet to fail me. I won the tournament at the ball first try and only had to reload once for the one at the Passiflora.

I feel like monster decks are an utter joke. The enemy just always burns most of their cards in round one. Most of the time, I just play both your spies in round one, forfeit it and end up going into round 2 with 10 vs 6 cards on hand.

I've read the books,
and maybe I've missed something but I kind have the same question. I'm not sure what he hoped to get out of it. If he knew he'd get their child I have no idea what he thought he'd to with it. I kinda suspect it was just "destiny" acting through him.
