EB Games just officially confirmed that it's coming this year on their Twitter account

It's not a placeholder date

How is everyone not quoting this? 2015 date confirmed real means this is a really bold move. AAA announced within 5 months of release? Never heard of that before and its amazing if they make it happen

Feels linear in comparison. Can you explain why you feel it's better?

Haha no I just wanted to answer subjectively... Actually NV feels more linear to me because of areas with crazy enemies... I liked just walking out in f3 and just wondering the wasteland... Also something about the emptiness off f3 made the post apocalyptic atmosphere more real. NV seemed crowded and downright vibrant blah.

Still NV was fun but it was just not apocalyptic enough for me

I can tell you why I think it's better. In open world Bethesda games I care more about the worlds than the story, and Fallout 3 was a much more impressive world IMO.

Writing is very important to me, just not in these games. These are open world sandbox games to me, where the environment and world are the biggest draw. I've probably put in hundreds of hours of gaming on Bethesda titles and I'd be hard-pressed to tell you what each main storyline was even about. I'm not looking for PS:T or BG2 when I play these Bethesda games, I'm looking for a vast open world full of neat things to explore and do, the story is secondary.

They're not just open world games. They're open world RPG's. NV does more for the RPG fan than Fallout 3 and that can't be denied. I'll side some of you on one thing. Fallout 3 has more memorable moments/locations. Atmosphere was a big thing with 3. NV does it well, just not as well as 3. For everything else, NV is better for me.

I just realized that after 4 years, Skyrim's first official trailer has a little over 4 million views on Youtube. After one day, Fallout 4 has over SEVEN million. Jesus.

The hype is real. Is it possible Fallout 4's marketing could have it selling better than Skyrim in the end?

I'm totally fine with this post, but, with items and armor did you mean which ones have better/cooler looking designs? I think in just the base game alone NV definitely has more unique weapons and armor to find than 3. It's been awhile since I've played 3 and I may be wrong.

New Vegas definitely has the better supply of unique weapons and armor. And if you count the DLCs, it can't be beat there.

edit: La Longue Carabine is the shit. Even if I have to be an ass to get it every playthrough. Sorry for repeatedly shooting you in the arm grandpa.

And that's just the US Bethesda YT channel. I think there's another 3-4mil views on the UK channel, plus the various sites that reuploaded it to their channels (IGN, GameSpot).

Open world that you explore with a character whose attributes you can customize, with weapons and armour to collect, and quests to play through. These are not surface level traits. And you are the first person I've seen in this thread say that Witcher 3 and Fallout 3 are too different to compare.
All games are the same. Its just pushing buttons.

Er, didn't they do exactly that with Fallout 3?

Not that I think that it won't come out in 2015, but EB Games saying it will doesn't really confirm it.

Todd Howard mentioned a year or two ago that the title they were working on(obviously we now know that title is Fallout 4)would have the shortest time between announcement and release that Bethesda has ever done. They don't need a year or two to build hype for this game. The hype is more than real.

Not the one you replied to but i'd like to chime in.

Personally i liked Fallout 3's story more than New Vegas'. I liked that they focused so much on what happened after the bombs fell, and main quest i thought was really good. Even though NV was better in every other aspect of the game (companions, quests, scale, weapons/armor), i didn't particularity like the Vegas theme. I mean it was really good for a spin-of, but it wasn't fallout fallout. I hope they get every upgrade from NV and apply it in FO4, and i can't freaking wait for E3.

What's 'Fallout Fallout'? Because if there's a thematic outlier in this series (which has existed since well before 2008), it's certainly Fallout 3 and not New Vegas.

Yeah, just IMO. NV definitely has more unique items, but nothing beats Lincoln's Repeater.
Remotely detonating C4 in other people's pants with the push of a button in New Vegas brought me such joy that no regular gun can replace that.

Though the Anti-Materiel Rifle was amazing too. It's use against military equipment... but *I* used it against regular people. The feedback was glorious

Exactly. If you've ever played the original Fallouts, New Vegas feels a lot more like a Fallout successor than 3 does (and not talking about it staying closer to canon or having more elements from the original. I'm talking atmosphere here). And I will be one who says I think 3 does have a better atmosphere. But honestly, Vegas is more true to Fallout atmosphere.

And yes, I think it's very fair to bring out the original Fallouts in an argument about what feels more Fallout. After all, they are the original and what got it a fanbase in the first place (Bethesda wouldn't be interested in buying the IP if there wasn't already interest showed in the game).

I think this is pretty much known:

Leaker who has been accurate said it's cross-gen
It looks like it can be scaled down to cross-gen

I wonder what the reaction will be when it is revealed as such
That leak is bullshit and the game doesn't look scaled down. Also,

Pete Hines said:
@NewVegasHouse it will be available on the platforms we announced: PS4, X1, PC.
Fan said:
@DCDeacon so it's not coming to 360 or PS3 at any point, right?
Pete said:
@NewVegasHouse are those platforms a PS4 or X1 or PC?
https://twitter.com/DCDeacon/status/606470944346013696

So can we stop with this now?

you could already pickpocket grenades into people's pants in F3, not the same but it was great fun...

If this game was ever at any point designed with cross gen in mind then the damage is already done. I can't imagine that having actually been the case. PS3 and 360 are too damn weak to do any meaningfully improved mainline 3D Fallout game any justice.

sad that gamers can't even trust a simple statement... partly due to being burned but also people who are just willfully ignorant...

"it will be available on the platforms we stated.......pc, xboxone, ps4."

means it will be available on exactly the platforms he stated. If this were not true it would be a downright lie.

After the trouble they had with Skyrim on PS3, I don't think there's ANY WAY they even considered cross gen at any point.

I haven't played 1 and 2 so my first experience with Fallout was Fallout 3, and i guess that set a standard for me. I meant the Fallout i knew, which i understand is the black sheep of the fallout family.

"It will be available" is different from "it will only be available" though. The former allows other platforms to be included.

Technically, he wouldn't be lying if it did turn out to be cross gen.

Well, usually don't they announce early to build the hype?

Fallout doesn't need the hype. For years anytime some one mentions Bethesda in an article, some one or many people are asking, "Where's Fallout" in the comments. The fallout community has been quite loud that the game will be bought if Bethesda puts it out. Bethesda really didn't need to build much hype.

Hell, some one on here mentioned the Fallout trailer in one day has almost twice the views as Skyrim's first official trailer and from what I understand it's accepted that Elder Scrolls is the more popular franchise (and Skyrim was the most popular of those games).

They probably need to give a little time to get people prepared to buy it and also get the less dedicated fans but honestly, they could release it in a month and I bet they'd still have a huge hit.

LOL at the doublespeak.

EDIT: Just to clarify, Im not saying that is going to happen
most likely not
but that phrase is so ambiguous that you can certainly construct it in a lot of ways...
The first one is ambiguous simply because he doesn't say "only on", but the second tweet of his is pretty clearly a "NO", just in a joke-y (if a little dickish) way.

But if you all don't believe it, just tweet him and ask for a yes or no answer. I'm sure he'll respond to someone.

Just saw the other tweet and you are right.

I hate when they circle around questions tho, mostly because some people start doing the absolute most even if the answer is obvious =/
