Rockefellers. Skull and Bones. Microsoft. Al Qaeda. A Cabal of Bankers. The melting point of steel. What do these things have in common? Wake up sheeple, the landfill wasn't even REAL!
I'm sure this is for the best
I'm with you. Jesus Christ, people.
The most annoying thing is that now people will romanticize Versus XIII forever no matter how good this game is.
Yes, for months now.
This wasn't the only skeleton in Tabata's closet either. I wonder if he'll ever share the rest.
I think everyone needs to step back, take a deeeeeeeeeeeep breath and wait for Gamescon. If the game turns out with a shit presentation with all that they have to reveal, then let the tar and feathering begin. The excuse "just wait and see" is already tiring with this game. The 2.0 demo looks promising and for now, that's my excitement with the game. Prove me more SE.
Yeah, well, it's still like being shown and promised Disneyworld, and then winding up at Chuck-E-Cheese.
Sure, you can still have a lot of fun there, but you know what COULD have been.
Except you don't, because we barely knew anything about Versus.
And I'd argue FFVX is still extremely ambitious, so your analogy is a bit silly.
I'm with you. Jesus Christ, people.

Exactly.
"Remember Versus XIII? Now THAT was amazing, unlike the crap FFXV we got."
People will always support their mental fan fiction over whatever gets released.
its easy to romanticize something that could have been when what we are getting seems like shite (based on that awful demo)I'm with you. Jesus Christ, people.

People keep stating that Stella was a female strong lead character. You barely ever seen this person outside of a few trailers. She could have been the most emo-centric obnoxious character ever and you wouldn't even have known.
FF community loses their damn mind over everything. They changed a hair style? OMFG i'm done - I am out - I can't take this ARRGGHHH.
Which is why you don't announce a game this early. They have no one to blame but themselves. The game was revealed back during the BUSH administration.
Since this game was announced, entire franchises have been created, peaked, and ended. Since the start of the FFvXIII/FFXV project, we've seen the birth of Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, Dead Space, Borderlands, Portal, Left 4 Dead, The Witcher series, Gears of War, Minecraft, Batman Arkham series, and countless others.
When this game was announced, Iron Man and the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe didn't even exist yet. Nor did Twilight, The Hunger Games, the Transformers movies. Since this game was announced, they'll have rebooted Spider-man TWICE.
That's how long people have waited for the game, with nothing OTHER than mental "fan fiction" to tie them over... And it's entirely their fault for wasting so much time on so much that, ultimately, is getting scrapped anyway.
Good lord, I feel like I'm the only one that remembers when, about four or five years after the reveal, they proudly announced their CLOTHING brand designs and tie-in deals were done... and even those changed.
Damn you FFIX, you could've been good:

Well, since FFXV is "different", think they've abandoned the whole FNC shit? I actually wouldn't mind if they just ditched that shit and aimed for a new "mythology". Sure, Etro is in the logo, but they could just rename her something else. "She's not Etro... she's Somna, the sleeping goddess!".
Exactly.

It's still a Fabula Nova Crystallis game.
Eh, I honestly didn't even realize Stella and Luna were different characters.
I'm eager and excited to play FFXV, but it's clear it's different animal than FFversusXIII. Not saying XV is worse or anything like that, but I can't help but wonder what Nomura's actual vision with Versus would have been like if we got to see it in it's final, retail form.
Now, I hope they fix Cid cause her outfit's frankly ridiculous.
The excuse "just wait and see" is already tiring with this game.

Ditto on this! I love the demo and the changes made for the 2.0 version seems awesome. It's still, basically, the game I've imagined since Square(be it Nomura or those after) described a world that melds modern with medieval and fantasy with technology. What little I've seen and experience blows away everything FFXIII has thrown at me.Bro, I'm not defending Square-Enix's failure to deliver the Versus project. They failed, hard, and they made a lot of mistakes.
However they are trying their best to deliver a good product with FFXV. I played and loved the demo. I've loved the concepts, the characters, the music, and the battle system.
So I refuse to join the bitter bandwagon like 90% of the people on this thread. I will judge the game depending on what I see, and what I play, not depending on what "it used to be".
Remember, "Don't believe Tabata's lies!".It's still a Fabula Nova Crystallis game.

To be honest, that's entirely SE's fault for unveiling the game as early as 2006.
I'm genuinely saddened to loose what we saw of that Stella/Noctis dynamic from the earlier trailers, it was a really refreshing twist on the two leads. Stella felt like a bit of a lovechild between Rinoa and Ashe, so I hope that Luna isn't too dissimilar. The loss of Nojima and Akiyama sting quite a bit, too.
I hope it all comes together, though. I'll try not to judge until Gamescom. Repressing all judgemental urges. Repressing. Repressing.

For me, it's not just Luna's different hairstyle. It's the fact that she looks more like a "cute little sister" version of Stella. And if she is indeed the love interest, it's kinda weird that they felt the need to make her look younger (like 16, 17) when Noctis is supposed to be mid-20's, especially considering they look the same age in Versus! It just feels...unnecessary.
We didn't know much about Stella either and I didn't have any particular attachment to her, but she seemed sort of an unwilling rival, and fights Noctis and seemed to be his equal. Whereas Luna appears to be the girl for Noctis to "protect."
If I'm wrong about Luna when the final game comes out, fine. But based on the last few FF main females, Serah/Rem, I don't think it's unreasonable for FF fans who didn't like those heroines to be worried about Luna, given that her mannerisms appear very similar.

There's always something people would complain about. Hell, I bet you if Stella came back along with the older FF Versus XIII staff, people would still find a way to complain.
The problem with this line of thinking is that 'this game' isn't the same game which was announced in 2006. Yes it's a huge problem they basically scrapped and started the project several times (changing engines, changing platforms etc) but the product we're going to get (and have a glimpse of with Duscae) is fundamentally different to the original thing they revealed. It's clear with the rebranding to FFXV SE are selling this as something entirely different, so in terms of development cycle, it's best to push the reset button from that point onwards imo, especially in terms of expectations.
From the first Day this game was reintroduced as FF15, people were searching for things to critizise this game and they will never stop
Action RPG? This is not a FF Game - this is DMC meets Uncharted
More tactis in the gameplay ? But we want that Action RPG ala Kingdom Hearts back
Only Guys in the group, even tough we knew this since 8 Years?
Noctis looks like a Jpop Sasuke Emoboy - Well welcome to Final Fantasy
These people aren't sharing any information on this game....its dead?
They share too much information on this Game...
No stella....This game won't have the same deep relationship and characterdevelopment, that versus was going to have
Let's type what we actually know of Luna:
*She's a noblewoman from Tenebrae.
*She survived Niflheim's attack and attempt on her life (She seems to have been a main target, since the news mention her apparent "death").
*She has been entrusted with something important (The ring?) to give to Noctis.
*She's at Accordo, waiting for Noctis and crew in order to give them the important stuff.
I mean... Nothing of that even remotely says "damsel in distress" or "girl in need of rescue" to me....
To me this seems one of those cases when one person says one thing, another person repeats it, and after some time you have a bunch of people repeating the same thing without even thinking about it.
Lol. You are bringing up facts from what she does and what she doesn't completely disregarding her appereance, how she acts and behaves and how her portrayal has changed from XV trailers compared to Versus XIII trailers. People have brought up countless details in this very thread.
I think you keep repeating your own stuff without thinking instead of the other way around.
People are making up stuff about Luna in the exact same way that they were making stuff up about Stella.
Reality check: You know nothing about this character yet. You know how she looks, and how she gestures in one moment.

But, like, we saw 10 seconds of Luna. That's nowhere near enough to extrapolate her being a damsel in distress especially when Stella had a very similar design in 2013.
It's a bit presumptuous right now.
