E3 2015 Predictions & Discussion thread

Not open for further replies.

I'm not kidding! I wanted an Uncharted Collection to be released on PS4 this year. The fact it was all but confirmed plus the leaks hyped me up. Now that it's out of the way (i.e. announced) I'm not hyped anymore, 'cuz all I hope for is basically a safe bet now. I'm still exited to see what's next though.

If anything, Sony announcing the Uncharted Collection and release date of Until Dawn before E3 might mean that there's more in store for E3. Hopefully...

Isn't that kind of obvious?

Announced games- likely to show up debuting their gameplay or with updated trailers
-Uncharted 4
-Street Fighter V
-Ratchet & Clank
-Persona 5
-Rime
-The Tomorrow Children
-WiLD
-Gravity Rush 2
-Star Ocean 5 (will probably be at Square's conference instead),
-Drawn to Death
-Tearaway Unfolded
-Dragon Quest Heroes (will probably be at Sony's event to push and highlight it as one of their holiday exclusives)

Confirmed to be announced at E3

-Level-5's new PS4 game

High chance of appearing (gathered from words of the devs or people with ties to the industry)
At least one of these:
-GG's new IP
-Bend's new IP
-MM's new IP

That's just the expected stuff.

I imagine Sony starting the conference with Destiny DLC, and ending it with Black Ops 3 "first on PlayStation DLC".

As long as I get to see Horizon and The Last Guardian, I'll be satisfied.

I imagine Street Fighter V will take up a slot as well. New character reveal(s).

Kinda bummed nobody else seems excited for Banner Saga 2 or Hyper Light Drifter...

I really hope they are both successful for the debs. They are both incredibly ambitious both in scale and concept as well as being uniquely striking aesthetically speaking. Precisely the kind of stuff I want to see.

What would it mean for them to be making noise to you? It's not like they're going to announce games through Twitter. So all they can do is what they are doing by hyping it through tweets. You aren't getting any of that from Sony. Go to Yoshida or Adam Boyes or Gio Corsi's twitter accounts. They've tweeted about the theaters that you can watch their conference at and Adam tweeted that the official E3 account followed him. That's it from them. No developers, whether they be big or indie, are saying that they'll be at Sony's conference. It really is near complete silence on their end about E3.

I'm going to pretend you didn't post this.

When people talk about Level-5's next game, is there any reason to expect it's a Sony exclusive? I mean, it could very well be Ni No Kuni 2 published by Namco couldn't it? Or them bringing one of their Yu Kai Watch games, or football games to a PS platform, right?

I'm very hyped for Hyper Light Drifter. It's easily one of my most wanted indie games, and my most awaited Kickstarter game!

Man ive been waiting for Hyper Light Drifter for 2 years now. The game looks so good

Considering Level 5 has been making exclusive RPGs for what, 15 years now on the Playstation platform there is no reason to believe otherwise

Probably because all we know so far is Level-5 is going to announce a Ps4 game at E3. If it was Multiplat i think they would just say they're going to announce a game.
And Inazuma Eleven for Ps4 would be the greatest thing ever. Love those games.

I'm excited for both! They are both looking great and I hope we see more at either the PC thing or on Sony's stage. I also hope Galak-Z makes a reappearance, that game went quiet!

Do you guys realize after this weekend shit is going to start getting real? After Sunday we'll start getting tweets of people arriving and pictures. Oh and I'm sure the leaks and speculation will ramp up as well.

Enjoy this quiet time GAF because next week will drag and it'll start getting crazy

Level-5 specifically said they'll be announcing a PS4 game at E3:

http://gamingbolt.com/level-5-will-announce-a-ps4-game-at-e3-2015

I don't think they've ever done anything on Microsoft platforms. Level-5's Nintendo games are on handhelds. Thus, if they're doing a PS4 game, that says to me it's a Sony exclusive.

Man I wish Gravity Rush would show up at E3. On the one hand that game deserves/needs the spotlight, but on the other hand it may be too niche for western audiences (though Open World is the rage these days, and this has a great take on that).

Hey, don't take it the wrong way. Sony's conference is the only one I'm hyped about. When I said "hopefully", I meant we may not get stuff like The Last Guardian, Crash Bandicoot, FF7 Remake and Shenmue 3. But for me, I'll be happy with just a setpiece demo of Uncharted 4 and reveal trailer of Horizon.

Wow I totally missed the bolded. When was it announced that Level 5 was doing a exclusive PS4 game? I hope it's a new Ni No Kuni, even with it's flaws I liked the game a lot.

EDIT: Nevermind it got answered.

I'm very hyped for Hyper Light Drifter. It's easily one of my most wanted indie games, and my most awaited Kickstarter game!

It's definitely up there for me too. No Man's Sky takes top slot for me though because it is looks like playing the cover of one of the old school science fiction pulp novels I used to read all the time as a kid. Really hits home for me as someone who yearns to explore the unknown.

But yeah I fully expect a release date announcement for Hyper Light Drifter at E3. I can't imagine it not releasing before the end of the year at this point. Really excited! I think I'm more excited about these three smaller titles (NMS, Banner Saga 2 and HLD) than anything else at E3 at this point. They're just so refreshingly different I can't help but feel drawn to them. Super excited to play them all soon!

Me too! Glad I'm not the only one. I especially love their sprite animations both in combat and out. Cannot wait to play it. Can't imagine it'll be much longer now.

Yep the game looks goregousely smooth and i love the designs. hopefully we see a concrete release date soon.

Ok, to sidestep the AAA definitions for a bit.

What three indie games are gaffers looking forward to getting info the most for E3?

For me its Rime, Inside (don't own an Xbone-I hope this is timed!) and NMS.

Hunger, No Man's Sky and ABZU. Although I get the feeling that NMS is the only one that'll actually make an appearance at E3. Those three games though, they look amazing.

Excited, but it's like the Witness & Galak-Z where I've seen enough of the game, and I'm just waiting for it to have a release date.

Verendus said it's SCE game as in second party game. They could have another game in development though.

Whoa there, I am extremely excited for both of these games. I am a Vita and an indie enthusiast and am eagerly awaiting the firsf Banner Saga and HLD to hit my means to play them. They are in my top five, definitely.

I really want Horizon. I should just try to sneak into the GG studio if its not at E3.

I also wonder what Cambridge is working on at this moment KZ Mercs was the second best Killzone after 2.

3 indies im looking forward to.

Wattam
Hyper Light Drifter
WiLD

Banner Saga 2 will be fantastic if it's more of the first, which is probably what will happen based on the budget and the short development.

But yes. It's already on my list of buying it the day it comes out. It's shelved under known quantity.

E3 for me is about the stuff I don't know about yet.

I've heard that name before (Galak-Z) but I have no idea what the game is. People seem to be really looking forward to it though so I think I'm gonna go hunt down some trailers for it.

I have 0 doubt that we will see Banner Saga and Hyper Light Drifter at E3 where, in all likelihood, we will get a release date for both. I'm hoping they both come out sometime this year. HLD definitely should.

Yes. This is my hope. Luckily I think it's a very safe bet :D

I still don't get why we've had God of War 3: Remastered and the Nathan Drake Collection confirmed, yet not a peep from Gravity Rush even though it leaked the same time as GoW. If they're saving it for an E3 announcement then great, but I can't shake the feeling that it's going to be another no-show. All this silence around Gravity Rush, both the remaster and the sequel, is kind of taking its toll on me now; I need something, anything. Even five seconds of remastered gameplay and a release window would do me.

Fair enough. Seems like sound logic, although I won't get my hopes up too much. I've loved some Level-5 games, but they've also released a few which have been full of potential but really disappointing (Rogue Galaxy, the White Knight Chronicles games).

I really hope it's there as it could do with the exposure. And it's basically an open-world superhero game, so with a decent marketing push it should appeal to western audiences!

Ah, I don't think anyone should be going in with those kind of expectations. Assuming a certain unlikely game (that may not even be in development) is going to be there is just asking to be disappointed.

People should just hope there's a few interesting and promising games that appeals to you. Don't worry about if a game is considered a "megaton" or how many clicks and mentions it can get on the social medias.

I remember seeing Hyper Light Drifter when the kickstarter launched. It reminded me of the Dragonball Z RPGs that I loved on GBA. If it's somewhat similar to those games, I'll definitely get it.

That would be fine with me! Uncharted and GOW don't need to exposure like Gravity Rush does, so my hope is that it gets even just 2 minutes of stage time to announce it show a trailer and give a window. Gravity Rush works really well in a trailer, and with the power of PS4 it could be quite the looker.

I'm thinking that it'll be a simul-announcement, where the Gravity Daze 2 is announced for PS4, and the first game will also be revealed to be remastered for the PS4.

I mean, at the end of the day, GD1 was a Vita game, and there'll be limits to how much it can be remastered/prettied up for the PS4. I expect GD2's 'built-from-the-ground-up-for-PS4' reveal to be intended to the showstopper for the Gravity Daze franchise on console, and the remastered is just for "oh, don't own a Vita? Here's the first game!"

Excited, but it's like the Witness & Galak-Z where I've seen enough of the game, and I'm just waiting for it to have a release date.

Have we seen that much of The Witness? I wasn't aware it had been shown publicly more than the brief E3 demo. I was never a big Myst fan and it really struck me like a modern reimagining of Myst. So yea it looks promising but my anticipation for Banner Saga and HLD dwarfs my curiosity for The Witness.

Well I'm glad to hear others are excited for them. I feel like nobody else talks about them on GAF at all these days. So it's good to hear I'm not alone. I sincerely hope they prove successful for the developers. I'll likely be playing them on my Vita and my PS4. Crossing my fingers for a cross save support announcement.

People, you talked about indies that were already announced and you love(Rime, Hunger, Hyper Light Drifter, etc...), to reintroduce them, but...

What indie games you would love to see on PS4?

I think there's a high chance of Devolver showing stuff at Sonys again. New ports, more of the games we already know are coming to Ps4 (Enter the Gungeon, Broforce) and maybe a new game.

What indie games you would love to see on PS4?
Westerado. And We Happy Few.

Witness's elevator pitch is pretty simple. Beautiful island, solve puzzles in the island.

Surprised hat I see a few people not including Destiny content at Sony'a conference. I imagine Comet/Stolen King will make an appearance there. If I remember correctly they gave them some stage time at PSX
