Witcher 3 sold 4 million copies in the first 2 weeks!

And going by people I know a surprising amount of them bought the game for/on GOG. Usually I'd say the vast majority of sales happen on Steam but here I'm not so sure.
Yeah, I agree. For most games I'd say non-Steam sales are negligible, but not here. Perhaps I'm just biased because I own the game on GoG and all my friends have the game on GoG as well. Not really a solid statistical foundation, admittedly :p

I wonder how much money they get from NV. Have we ever seen any reliable numbers for publisher shares in GPU bundles?

I thought EVERY code other than those purchased directly through STEAM were GOG codes.
It was. The 570k on Steam so far are Steam-only preorders and full price sales.

Man so glad this is knocking it out of the park sales wise. 10 million lifetime sales possible maybe?
I think it's possible.

Really interested to find out the platfrom breakdown on those numbers.

CDPR really screwed Steam over with this one, opting to use Witcher 3 to draw more attention to their own GOG and Galaxy. The pricing of steam vs gog was really tilted towards GOG and it totally makes sense from their perspective.

I for one and quite sure GOG sold more Witcher 3 keys than Steam did but ofc we need CDPR to provide the numbers to back that assumption up.

Still, awesome game and some well deserved sales. Congrats!

Great sales so far and I'm really glad for CD Projekt RED.. but I'm somewhat disappointed with the PC sales - we don't know the number of the retail (which I guess are good in the case of W3, because of real value for money) or GOG versions, but still I hoped for far more copies sold on Steam (around 570 000 copies sold on Steam by Steamspy)

I'm a PC player myself, but when I saw people complaining that CD Projekt RED was going for simultaneous release for the PC and the console versions, and that they could have stayed PC only - now you see that they can't stay PC only if they want to do the games they want to do.. the PC sales are at best at 1 mil. copies right now - with 3 mil. copies on consoles.. what are you doing PC players? If many PC players turned down on CD Projekt RED because of "downgrade", then I really don't understand them.. that a primary PC series is doing right now better on consoles, that says something and that something isn't good for the PC players

Man, imagine how much more they could have done with preorder incentives, retailer exclusives, and paid DLC at launch!

Congrats to CD Projekt Red. All the accolades and sales are well deserved. Thank you guys for the amazing game.

The GOG version seems to have done rather well if message boards are to go by.
I hope it influences their world and quest design.

They would have to restructure how they build and test their games. It is hard to Q.A. and gamify the testing of a TW3-like open world IMO.

That's deserved. Well done!

We really have no clue how many are on PC. The only Steam sales for this game are directly from Steam -- GoG, retail, Amazon, NV codes and all other digital sellers only provided GoG keys.

What;s more..Witcher games on PC typically sell buttloads in retail. I would be surprised if they didn't sell more there than through DD.

The reception has been so great. Really glad they were able to expand their market and that market responded very well to what they were offered. I'm blown away by this game.

At this point most people enjoy DSP 'ironically'. I hope so anyway.

Makes sense I guess. Have you played the witcher 3? You know the "?" marks? He said those were side missions, he did those for 3 hours and called the game boring. I hoped people didnt listen to him, the game is amazing.

For you.

GOG themselves? Their sales are probably not even close to how it sold on Steam. There might be an equivalent number of people who have the game on GOG.com because every other retailer sells a GOG key and so does the physical version. But actual sales direcly bought from GOG.com? It's not even a contest.

Ewa Kopacz, the prime minister of Poland, visited CDPR the day Wild Hunt launched to congratulate them.

What do Polish people eat to make them so good at software development?

It is unfair.

Well deserved. Really been enjoying the game myself. Definitely one of the best RPG games ive played with very impressive storytelling in both main and sidequests which i find very impressive considering I dont ever find side quests to be interesting.

Really wish I could get into this, but I just can't get into an RPG where I'm handed a pre-made character. I need to feel like it's my story.

Congratulations to CDPR. Great game. Hope more companies take hint from Witcher 3 in terms of writing, open world and quest design.

I'm not going to say how old I am, but lets just say I have more than a few grey hairs now. In my time on this planet I have played an almost shameful amount of games and spent hours too many to count. All I can say is The Witcher 3 stacks up extremely favorable when I think about some of the best games I've ever played. But if I narrow the field in my mind and instead, compare it to other games in the Open World RPG Genre. Then the Witcher 3 just feels head and shoulders above its competition. Its just Glorious in so many ways and was a clear labor of love. All I have left to say is...

Bring on Cyberpunk 2077 the wait is going to destroy me!

Wow... I was expecting around 2 million in the first month. 4 million in two weeks is really amazing. I'm very happy for CDPR, this success is well deserved.

4,000,000 ..... Well deserved. My only problem is the game is too godamn big. I'm not even close to beating it and I know I'll be playing this all year long, playing all the side quests and enjoying their stories. Its been a long time since a game grabbed me by the sack like this and squeezed so tightly. Game of the generation thus far. Very happy for these guys.
