My power went out 45 minutes before the press conference and wasn't restored until 1 AM EST. Used the entirety of this month's data plan to stream the Last Guardian reveal, and then...darkness.

Now that the dust has settled, I'm thrilled to see that GAF lost its shit. Since I missed out on participating in the hysteria, I'll just go ahead and post what I planned to post in the extremely unlikely scenario that somehow became reality.

For a game that's been in development hell for the better part of a decade, it looked borderline unplayable. Ridiculous screen tearing, graphics out of 2006, and it didn't look like it controlled especially well either.

I'm glad people are getting this game, don't get me wrong, but it's mostly because I'm sick of hearing about it. I expect it to sell about 50k copies LTD and review terribly. The hype for the game has always completely mystified me. I played Ico for about two hours and stopped because I was tired of fighting the controls. Shadow of the Colossus was even worse.

It was a load of smoke and mirrors. I'm annoyed with both Sony and Microsoft for different reasons, but Sony is especially painful because they have an incredible box just sitting there spinning wheels after 18 months. I'm playing Witcher on it ATM, and it's amazing, but the fact that we don't have Uncharted or anything at all this fall, TWO YEARS after the PS4's launch, is borderline insulting for people who bought the PS4 on blind faith.

At least with Microsoft, we got some genuinely new stuff (HoloLens, Rare's pirate game looked like it might be sweet). Sony glossing over Morpheus also doesn't fill me with confidence.

You sound...pissed off because of no reason.

Or you're biased.

The only disappointment for me was that they didn't really announce anything for Morpheus except for that mech game which admittedly did look great. Really though, I can't say that I'm that disappointed after a show like that, hopefully they focus on it in their next big event.

Has Sony announced anything else?
New firmware, any mention on BC or their thoughts on MS's BC announcement?

As a consumer that hasn't jumped on the PS4 yet, this is a big deal to me. I used my PS3 for a lot of media functions, and it never sat right with me that the PS4 was so stripped down in media functionality.

Really funny looking back on how everyone was worried that no leaks meant no megatons.

Sony and its partners somehow managed to keep FF7R, TLG and Shenmue 3 all from leaking.

Truly an unforgettable moment in gaming history. Glad I stayed awake for it.

TLG didn't leak but I did "know"/feel it on some level that we would see/hear about it.
The fact that it was the opener was a big suprise.

We saw the thread FF7 pop up and thought "yeah, right, not falling for it this time". And then it happened, it was unreal.

And then the Shenmue. Had to make sure I wasn't dreaming at the moment.

TL:DR

TLG : Couldn't really "leak" because it was on "the table" already.
FF7R : Did leak infact, kind of but we didn't really believe it.
Shenmue : Out of the blue, I guess.

Yeah, it will be a while before you even can try top this E3.

Thanks for tuning in & I'm glad some of you enjoyed the show ;)

You guys made the internet go "No, not happening, this isn't real" 3 times last night (or morning, it was 04:00 here when it started). So, how are you going to top this next year or at PSX (if it happens again)?

That's his point. The big announcements other than horizon are years away. Shenmue is targeting 2017. They just started on FF7 and TLG needs no explanation.

Do you ever see a conference where games get announced 2 plus years before they are expecting to release? No delayed but planned?

Sony threw a ton of hype games out there that have no true release date to cover the fact they are limited in the near term. A conference is about what you can play soon. Not maybe play in two years

You mean like:

Halo 5 - announced June 2013; releasing November 2015
Quantum Break - announced May 2013; releasing early 2016
Cuphead - announced June 2014; releasing 2016
Below - announced June 2013; releasing ???
Crackdown - announced June 2014; releasing ??? (probably 2017)
Scalebound - announced June 2014; releasing ??? (probably 2016)
Phantom Dust - announced June 2014; apparently not cancelled; releasing ???
Sea of Thieves - announced June 2015; releasing probably 2017
Fable Legends - announced August 2013; releasing September 2015

This kind of thing, right? Because I see from your posts that you favour MS, but let's not pretend that they're not at least as guilty of this as Sony is.

And what exclusives are people playing on the XBO between the holidays, apart from Ori and the Blind Forest? It's odd to see the PS4's holiday line-up being underlined, when the months leading to it have been sparse on the other side.

I feel all alone with having no hype from the conference. I have no ties or interest in FF7. TLG, or Shenmue. I did like what I saw of Horizon, No Man's Sky, UC4, and the Destiny expansion. All around it was a good conference but nothing earth shattering at least for me.

One of the best conferences I have ever seen! The Last Guardian, Final Fantasy 7 remake and Shenmue 3 in 1 conference. Then we have Uncharted 4 gameplay, Horizon which looks amazing, dreams, ... I still can't believe it!!!

I'm not sure anything can top this. At least not for another decade when other titles have had time to build up the sort of hype TLG, FF7:R an Shenmue 3 have.

Thanks for tuning in & I'm glad some of you enjoyed the show ;)

Man, you got to be part of the greatest E3 press conference EVER, including being the man on stage during one of the most incredible announcements ever.

You're part of gaming legend now.

We thanks very, very, very much. Especially for Shenmue 3. I've been waiting almost 15 years for this. The best Sony E3 conference in history.
Shenmue3, FF7R and TLG. Few days ago...impossible. Now? We're waiting.

Win what? Is there a trophy? What does this even mean?

"Win" as in blowing almost everyone's collective minds with 40 tons of TNT.

I can understand not being enthused by some games, but for a majority of folks, the hype is real, and the last thing we want to hear is people who have no real investment into these properties trying to convince us "what's the deal".

If you dont care, fine. You don't have to, but this is our moment. Stop acting like we can't like things because "lol overrated" nonsense.

I feel exactly the same way and stated it many times. FF7 is probably the most over rated game in history. I think it is so beloved because it was a lot of peoples first RPG. I have the same complaints the combat and material system were bad and made the game to easy with the combat slow and boring. I got the game day 1 back in the day but it can't hold the jock strap of games like phantasy star 2.

Like this.

Like many were saying, these games were so unbelievable in the first place that even if sources said it was happening people would still not truly believe. I mean did many of us believe all 3 would turn up xD

You're not alone. Your post echoes mine on last page. The "Big 3" that people are losing their minds over don't do anything for me. I understand the excitement, but there are very few JPN games that interest me anymore.

I would've preferred a GoW trailer and something new from R&C. UC4 looked awesome. Indies looked great. I can't wait for SF5.

As a PS4-only gamer, the future is bright.

Congratulations on another amazing showing. Well done!

You can like whatever you want. That's great! I love that people are excited. But why can't anyone else ask questions or have a different viewpoint?

"Last thing we want to hear"? "Our moment"? What?

9.9/10

As people were walking out after Uncharted I wanted the place to go black.

"Where are you going?"

*G-Man's face appears*

"We still have work to do, Mr. Freeman".

*Half Life 3 logo appears*

"For PC and PS4, see more at the PC conference tomorrow"

Those 3 reveals completely spoiled me.

It's not odd it' s console warriors.

oh man

you guys destroyed GAF for nearly the entire show!

Good thing though I was so shook I was practically knuckle punching keys, prob would of broken my screen if I could keep throwing my opinion out there

After HoloLens I was pretty sure that MS "won" the conference (+ BC announcement = win), since it was the most amazing piece of tech (yet) shown. Totally forgot about Kinect reveals, glad that GAF reminded me. And a bit surprised that media remembered that as well (no hype anywhere).

Then came Sony. In all the prediction threads the holy trinity was considered joke material. TLG, FF7R = ha-ha. Shenmue 3 wasn't even considered as a joke. Joke's on us (well, on me, at the very least) now.

Sony's PR was directed to gamers, and gamers only. Everybody here knows that there will be Witness, Rime, Persona, Disgaea etc. Everybody here knows everything there is about Morpheus. So they didn't bother. Even AC/COD/Destiny/Infinity announcements were shown more to fulfil partnership agreements than to entertain public. I remember pretty clear the reaction to the Destiny: PISS BREAK. It's Destiny - and it's a piss break.

And that is why it was the greatest conference ever: lots of NEW and EXCITING content, focus on gamers... oh, and did you notice that there was lots of gameplay? Horizon, TLG, No Man's Sky, Uncharted, Rigs - all of them featured gameplay bits.

New. Exciting. Gameplay.

Number one, wasnt talking to you, so i dont know why you responded to me, and secondly, yeah, there's tons of people trying to dismiss the occasion that a LOT of people have been waiting MANY YEARS to witness because of whatever their agenda is, and i'm sick of it.

It was terrific; one of the best E3 conferences ever. The only thing I would change is to have a bit more time on indie games, as you've been really great at that over the past couple of years, but there was hardly any time on it this year besides NMS and one sizzle reel (I think).

Warzone was a pretty big megaton, that mode looks amazing. The campaign demo was pretty average though, it looked very pretty though and the story implications were really interesting. Gameplay was a bit too scripted although that's completely expected from E3 demos.

I'm thinking Warzone might just save it. The demo was uninspiring, a by-the-numbers FPS rather than the new Halo. If the whole game is scripted like that it's pretty much Doomed for leaving '30 seconds of fun' behind.

The Halo story left me behind long ago, so yeah, maybe there's something in that.

Neither Microsoft nor Sony have much in the way of big name, big budget exclusives and nor will they have enough to satisfy people until 2016. It is like a chic trying to compare two guys who don't have much going on until they graduate college.

This whole conference was perhaps one of the best in a long time. The Last Guardian, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Shenmue 3 and Horizon all getting announced in the same show made Sony win E3 easily in my book.
