Fallout Shelter: Phone game from Bethesda studios where you are the Overseer, out now

Its been such a crazy week that Im only gonna start playing this now.

Todd howard sold me on a mobile game, I cant believe that.

Bring them in, and send them out to explore... Forever

Thanks (and others) for the advice.

I've just uninstalled it now though. It's kind of like Tiny Tower but shit. Too much busywork and not an awful deal of reward for it. Games like this I want to play for a couple of minutes then leave them for a few hours and know they're ticking along. Fallout Shelter seems to need your attention constantly and it's not really what I'm after.

Oh good... android version coming? Interested again.

Not exactly sure why it's going to take months... But yea, at least we know it's coming.

It's starting to get kind of irritating now, it seems like rushing fails nine out of ten times regardless of the percentage. At least one of my explorers finally found a second gun.

Android whiners, what did you expect? This happens every time. Get an iPad/iPhone or something if this stuff means that much to you and don't worry about being left out again instead of bitching and moaning in every thread.

The timers make sense. They are in no way exploitative so I don't understand what people are complaining about.

So are you guys spending money to revive characters or just more babies?

Also if you remove a body do you get your gear back?

I think my vault might be morally bankrupt.... so here's my setup:

Men chill in my residences. I put a woman in the residence, she gets pregnant. I then put that woman to work, swapping her for another woman, that also gets pregnant. So I have a bunch of pregnant women doing the hard labor while the men chill in resident and go exploring.

When the children are born I assign them IDs and not real names so I can keep track of who is who.

As of right now, every woman in my vault is pregnant.

Been pretty addicted to this.

I'm at 21 dwellers right now.

Did I miss something at the begining? Whats the end game here? Make the best vault?

LOL thats a frighting life, overseer.

You should be letting the numbers/stats run everything.

Right now I have 50 dwellers, 14 of which are pregnant and working. My population is about to blow up. Hopefully they don't take incest into account. :X

Edit: Welcome one of my new dwellers into the world: 011 517f It's a girl! :)

The VP of Bethesda said on the Touch Arcade interview they take that into account, so you can't breed with a kid, it just says something like "nothing like being home with my family".

So from what I can tell the cycle here is
get good
random radorach infestation
get almost wiped out
get good
etc.

Sounds like a genuine Vault-Tec experiment.

Rad roaches have not been a problem for me lately. Been dispatching them pretty fast. And I finally got a second person from the radio.

Are there any rooms that don't expand 3 wide?

Interesting. That must be why one of my forced couples stood around and did nothing for ages. I didn't think of checking their names at the time but I thought it must have been a bug and tried reentering the room.. lol

I've had raiders attack and devastate my base while the app was closed.

Oh this is was I was afraid of, good thing that the Android version is not out or I'd be rage quitting already.

Is there a point at which the cost of reviving dead explorers increases significantly? Does the option to revive even go away for that matter?

I had a guy die overnight while exploring and it only cost 300 caps or so to revive. Not a bad deal since he was packed with loot.

Personally, I find my set up a little more concerning...

I have one super high charisma male who also just so happens to run the radio station. Whenever a new female is available and isn't pregnant, he immediately goes to the residence until she ends up pregnant.

I started to realize that after a couple of generations this would end up with a very unfortunate situation for my vault.

This game kind of disturbs me the more I think about it.

Tbh, to help control population I have also been considering throwing out males into the wasteland to die... You know... Just for flavor now.

It's based on level as far as I can tell. I've revived people multiple times.

Yah i'd rather not. I don't shit Money, so i won't pay 600 Bucks, for the sole purpose of playing some free-to-play Games Months earlier.

No for completing the tasks but they are WAY less common than getting caps.
I had to ask, I started a new vault because i ballsed the first one up and I haven't had a single lunch box challenge show up. Got loads for the first vault.

Man, its so weird that you can do incest on this game.

hey guys, anyone knows if you need to do selective breeding? Will breeding people with high special get babies with high special?

So we'll maybe get to play it before FO4?

Jesus...

Why one earth wasn't it ready for both IOS and Android from day one?

I really don't know, if we're looking at the market with Europe included Android absolutely crushes IOS so it really seemed short sighted. I believe Android still has a dominant market share in the US for smartphones as well no?

I paid to revive a level 37 (found her in a lunchbox, lol) and it only cost 1k. It scales, but not as harshly as it could, at least

HOW DARE you question the android release, you whiner/babby/moaner etc. Haven't you read the thread? Android users are second class citizens, doesn't matter what sales charts says or what device your friends all have. If you want to play F2P P2W shovelware first then you MUST get an apple device, sign away your common sense and be one of the cool kids, just whatever you do, don't shit up this quality thread with suggestions that you'd prefer to see it on your device so that there's a visible demand, the apple users don't like it when the peasants rabble.

/this thread
/this game (which nobody will care about when it does get droid release).

People, baby's appear after 3 hours of pregnancy.
I have four pregnant women in my shelter and they will not give birth. One of them has been pregnant for almost a full 24 hours. Do they have to be in Living Quarters in order to produce children? I have them working in other rooms producing goods.

Douchebag. Yes, me.
Wait a second... in the first few posts it is explicitly stated that this game had no timers.

I just played and in the first 2 minutes I got a 5 minute timer or BUILD IT NOW WITH PAY FOR GEMS.

Uninstalled immediately.

You sure it was pay? Rushing things is actually skill based and you can't pay for it. Also it's not for building.

Almost all of the resident of Vault 913 have been wiped out by cockroaches in a single coordinated attack :\ Just five survivors among the 26 residents...

Oh is that the case?

Well, they should really do a better job of making that explicitly clear as it is presented in a fashion that is exactly like every other timer-based FTP cynical money grab game.

Yeah, you tell 'em. Don't question a dumb practice that doesn't need to happen anymore. Instead, go out and buy a product you don't want.

Sounds like a genuine Vault-Tec experiment.

The experiment has hit a snag. During what I call the "Great Birthing" my vault was sent into disarray because not only did I run out of food and purified water, I was met with an invasion. No one died luckily but roughly 90% of my dwellers had below 20% health.

So for now no sex is allowed until I can get back up to speed.

In order to combat the potential 'incest' problem I'm doing a rotation of males who I've labeled as breeders (011 517b) and they will work and have sex every other birthing session. I'm also gonna have to find a way to kill off some that have breed too much... maybe send them off on an exploration mission and never call them back? I dunno yet.

Haha I just failed a rush and the 12 pregnant women fleeing caused mass roach havoc in my vault. Only lost 2 people but severals health were really low and lots of shuffling the men around. You need guns in everyones hands ASAP.

12 knocked up women plus 5 kids in my vault of 33. The only woman not pregnant is my beast explorer. :) I'm at 92% happiness and all my levels stay near full but i'm nervous when all these kids start popping out.

They have you rush as part of the tutorial. I didn't think for one second that there was any payment involved or even options. The only thing you can buy more of is lunch boxes and that's completely optional. You can earn them in game completely certain objectives. Don't even know where you got the idea of gems. Gems aren't in the game and aren't currency.

It's a great model for F2P as far as I'm concerned.

Finally got my vault built back up, another roach raid and it killed 30 of my 36 people, I think I am done unless they patch it.

Even with a guided fat man and other Vault dwellers armed to the teeth with shotguns and rifles, these radroaches take forever to beat in the fully upgraded three room power or water complexes. However, they'll easily fall against one man wielding a sawed off shotgun in a single room that hasn't been upgraded. So, are the radroaches' health tied to the level of the room that they're invading?

Any way to make dwellers who are out exploring the wasteland use the stimpaks and radaways I loaded them up with before they left? Do they use them automatically at some threshold?

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
I know it may sounds weird, but the trick is not to have a major baby boom unless you are at the start of the game. Otherwise your adult dwellers will be overwhelmed and unable to cope with with the extra resources for these useless populations until they grow up few hours later.

And you can train dwellers with low stat in those training room. Place those training rooms close to their respective work rooms so you can keep rotating and swapping the workers once they finished training (eg train a person in weight room, then when his S stat surpass the other person in the generator room, swap him in and have the other guy train in the weight room until his S state surpass the first guy, then swap again)
