Canada E3 Deals 2015 IOTI Actually, even better than last year!

My final damage was:

Best Buy: Rock Band 3, Fire Emblem Fates
Amazon: Chibi Robo x2 (amiibo considerations), Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival x2 (again, amiibo considerations), Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon, Fire Emblem Fates (in case we do get two versions), Mario Tennis Ultra Smash, LBX, Mario Luigi Paper Jam, Metroid Prime: Blast Ball, Hyrule Warriors 3DS, Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, The Legend of Zelda: TriForce Heroes, Star Ocean 5.

I expect I will end up cancelling most of these and will end up with Chibi Robo, both AC titles, Hyrule Warriors, Star Ocean 5, Rock Band 3, and Fire Emblem Fates.

Even if Amazon says "shipping them as soon as they become available comes with an additional cost", that's not really true, right? These games are each way over 25$ so free shipping is still free shipping unless I'm mistaken?

Guys don't worry, Amazon will ship the games as they come out even if you order with the group items in as few shipments as possible to get free shipping.

God bless all my old friends/And god bless me too, why pretend?
Okay, this is going to sound extremely stupid, but if I put "group items in as few shipments as possible", they're not going to wait for a second game to release right? There are MONTHS in between. Reading the FAQ does not make me feel better.

That would be crazy right? I haven't done much pre-ordering on Amazon.

You'll get them as they release, don't worry about what it says

This messed me up, and then my credit card expires before 2016 so Best Buy's site wouldn't let me pre-order stuff. Great. Got Xonic off of Amazon, but couldn't get SMTxFE.

*sigh*

I got around this last year, I'm not sure how though.

I think I used paypal as a choice for checking out, then called BB when my first game from them didn't go through payment, and they changed it to my CC directly. And still received the game on release date. I think that was Type-0.

I need to call them again now, because I'm on my new expiration date, before September 1st, for MGS 5.

The game I added to my amazon order was popolocrois. I really need that place holder price to drop it is messing with my head.

Well Rare replay is already a budget game so how much cheaper is it likely to get? 30% of it's current price is $28 before tax so you aren't likely to get it much lower.

Gears of war on the other hand wait wait wait. It's massively overpriced for just a fresh coat of paint remaster. Maybe it if was the entire trilogy & judgement it'd be worth it, but you can play gears 1 now for like $5.

I just mean like, games are losing half their price by end of month they launch in for physical releases. Only Nintendo games are maintaining their price. While Rare Replay is a steal at $39.99, I was just wondering whether discount to get it at $27.99 is worth it, if say, two months after launch, it's $24.99 or even $20 for boxing day.

Final tally (so far)

Amazon order 1
Etrian odyssey 2 untold
Fire emblem fates
Hyrule warriors 3ds
Project x zone 2
Stella glow
The legend of legacy *contingent on them fixing the price for me*

Amazon order 2
Dungeon travelers 2
Fallout 4 (ps4)
Hyperdimension neptunia re;birth3
Super mario maker
Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness
Sword art online: lost song (vita)
Tales of Zesteria (ps4)

Best buy
Legend of heros trails of cold steel (vita)
shin megami tensei x fire emblem

Previous years
Xenoblade chronicles X
Zelda wii u

My second Amazon order is a bit tricky. I don't have a ps4 yet so Fallout 4 and Zesteria it's pretty much contingent upon me getting one by October/November. Also not sure if I'm going to keep Rebirth 3 and will drop Mario if it's not price adjusted like Captain Toad was. Star ocean is simply filler to insure I can get the other two vita games with a discount even if I end up having to cancel the rest of the order.

So i think I just found an "exploit" in best buys mario maker button preorder. I had it in my cart with xenoblade chronicles x then I added shin megami tensei x fire emblem removed xenoblade chronicles x and it still let me check out with the buttons at the same price.

So maybe after its in your cart and the promo is added the system doesn't know to remove it unless no other Wii U game is in the cart with it.

Edit - Just tryed it without having anything else in cart and I still was able to get the game & buttons at discounted price.

I ended up with 12 games, but it wouldn't surprise me if I cancel a couple of those.

Blazblue: Chrono Phantasma EXTEND
Dark Souls 3
Deus Ex Mankind Divided
Final Fantasy XV
Horizon: Zero Dawn
Kingdom Heart 3
Star Fox zero
Street fighter V
Ratchet and Clank
Uncharted Nathan drake collection
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
The Legend of Zelda Wii U

There's still MGS V The Phantom Pain that I have from last year, so these should last me a good while. If there's anything else I want, I'll wait for discounts or a game of the year edition which will be inevitable with Batman Arkham Knight or Fallout 4.

if it matters, Rare Replay is $30 at BB. That's $24 after the discount lolthreedollars

Geeze.. Never though of that... My credit card will expire late 2015.. Am I able to update this info with Amazon easily ? And keep my pre orders with discount etc.

I had this problem two years ago, I think, and my workaround was much simpler: just put in an expiry date far enough in the future to pass all the estimated release dates of your pre-orders.

If that where true for the Niche games I'm a fan of I wouldn't be half as worried about this as I am now.

I'd love to order Return to PopoloCrois but I'm not sure Amazon is going to fix the price on that one. Listing a 3ds game for $69.99 is silly when Best buy has it at $49.99

Because I remember wanting to get Sunset Overdrive, and then like barely a month after it launched at $69.99, I got it on black Friday at superstore for $29.99 no tax.

Unless you want to play the games day 1, launch week, even launch month, physical prices dropping like a rock. I still ordered it though. You never know with our dollar these days. I do think most games will eventually release at $69.99 if dollar stays stable into holiday.

Ordered 11 games, if you don't count the overlapped ones on both BB and Amazon and the second route(?) of FE:Fates. Anybody else bought two copies not waiting on NoA to seperate the SKUs? Anyway, cancellations will probably happen but the total as it is now is staggering.

Thanks.

Went with Mario Maker, Star Fox Zero, and Zelda U. I don't often ravenously get games on release but I figure you can't go wrong with Nintendo First party stuff as far as price drops go.

Well half the problem with Fire emblem is Nintendo flip flopping on it being split in two or not.

If it is split then I'd assume we'll get that special edition that has both games in one just like Japan is and I'd probably get that instead.

Games aren't losing half their value in a month. Please tell me where I can get Dark Soul II, Borderlands Handsome Collection, and Dragon Ball Xenoverse for $30, as it has been multiple months for those games.

Been trying to structure my pre-orders around games I know I want Day One, and whether they'll drop in price. I'm around 19, but I'll likely pare that down.

Not every game of course. Anecdotally, that's what I've observed. Best price I've seen for Borderlands Handsome Collection is $49 CAD on Amazon.ca a couple days ago. It depends on publishers too. But I used Sunset Overdrive as my example. Additionally, holidays always sees better retailer sales than summer months, plus more games releases means more price drops as sales wind down after first month to compete. We'll have black Friday, Christmas, boxing day etc.

More games retain their prices or near their full price than those that don't. Sunset Overdrive likely just bombed, so it went on sale quicker. It is like Codename S.T.E.A.M which went on sale for $10 not long after launch.

Either way, most of the games I buy are niche or Nintendo.

It's pretty easy if it expires months from now -- just update it and your orders will be intact. The issue would be if you wanted to pre-order games and your credit card expired this month. (This happened to me last E3 and while I managed it with Amazon, Best Buy wouldn't accept it.)

Spoke to the amazon CS rep, and he/she said that they couldn't do it. They'd have to manually re-order everything and i'd probably lose whatever discount I had. sucks, oh well. :(

They couldn't do what exactly?

As for me I'm nearly having a full plown panic attack over the total price of my order despite the fact that several of them are for next year (or later) or are likely to drop in price before they ship.

Urg I hate being so neurotic about this always quadruiple guessing everything I spend money on. How did I change so much from when I could go to a convention like Anime north and drop $500 like it was nothing to this where I'm looking at $500 spread out over a much longer time frame and feeling like I did something very very wrong.

Calling CSR has worked for me.

Your no longer in the spring time of your youth? Your more frugal with money because the economy is ALOT different compared to the past? You've been hanging around with a different crowd with different values; they've rubbed off on you.

It did alright but like I said, holiday has greatest competition for games with new releases of AAA games every week. You're right in that niche, Nintendo and not necessarily front-loaded games will retain price longer. I was more speaking about the Far Cry, Assassin's, and other style games. It's hard to imagine a scenario where Division will maintain full price for months after launch.

All of the above lol.

Already thinking of what to cut from my orders and I was really harsh about picking what to put in them in the first place. It feels weird skipping a Zelda game but since Triforce hero's is primarily multiplayer it isn't for me.

Am I the only one having the feeling something's gonna be added last minute after, only to not be preordered by most people? I think it was Persona 5 that was added to Bestbuy E3 sales last minute the year before and very few of us caught it. $35 P5 LETS GO!

Guys, get ready for that complementary instore credit: http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/the-last-guardian-playstation-3/10147887.aspx?path=3c4bddeace6fee0639e93ba1299ab66den02

I can already think of 5-6 games I'm most likely not keeping.

You done good with the spreadsheet. Thank you for putting the time and effort into making it.

Now, we can only hope for a brighter future where prices begin to lower back down.

Ubisoft games are in a whole category by themselves. I would never buy one of those at launch. Watch Dogs is one of the few games on current gen systems to be readily available for $15. But in general, people who want to buy these games at launch usually know they drop in price fast. There isn't really anything you can do to convince them and wait.

Meanwhile I wait for DSII and Dragon Ball on the PS4 to be $30. There aren't even any used copies of these on Kijiji.

Tell me about it, I've been waiting for Assassin's creed rouge to go on sale for $20 or less but no it's always unity that gets marked down while Rouge seems stuck at $49.99 :
