Do we know what's the relation of Banjo (can't believe that's his actual name) and Hiroshi Yamuchi?

Wikipedia says he had only one son and two daughters, and Katzuhito is already there.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
I think one will get updates on the initiatives Nintendo are planning this FY, such as their partnership with DeNA, QOL, and most likely a reveal of another licensing venture.

I'm hoping digital downloads (MK8, SSB) are touched upon.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
I don't know if we'll get full details about the membership service: Iwata mentioned October's meeting as the next occasion where he would've disclose details about it to investors. But maybe other tidbits?

A new Nintendo NX speculation thread? Sweet!
Jokes

I expect questions on when their mobile plans will be released, and how many mobile games will contribute revenue to this financial year, and if Nintendo expects such revenue to be substantial. Plans may have changed since we last heard that they were doing 5 games for this year. We're getting close to launch now so they should be able to be pretty accurate at this stage.

No, they're doing 5 games within 2 years of the announcement. More specifically, there are going to be 5 mobile games by the end of the fiscal year in March 2017.

is it the time where Iwata can be fired? just wondering.
He's not going to get fired anytime soon. He's said the right things to the investors thanks to their mobile initiatives.
They also have to get the most out of those puppets
I imaging you're joking, but just in case.

It's pretty crazy to think anyone on GAF could invest a couple grand into Nintendo shares and own more of the company than Miyamoto.

To be fair, I think the directors' shares might be the full 7974 shares, not the NTDOY shares we usually discuss on this side of the Pacific, which are actually a tenth of a share. If so Miyamoto would own something more like $20,000.

Certainly still less than one might think.

Still the shares dropped a decent amount. I can see some investors addressing how Nintendo shat the bed this E3. After all it is also about the company image and some shareholders actually care about videogames

Shareholder: "What is an E3?"

Nintendo shares are right back to where they were before E3, maybe even up a bit, I think.

I don't think shareholders care about fan reactions on the web.

But the shares tanked right after the Digital Event

It most certainly didn't.

But the shares tanked right after the Digital Event

The shares dropped 2.75% in Osaka; the next day it rose 1.33%.

Square Enix's shares rose more than 4% at the FF7 reveal; and dropped 3.5% the following day.

Nintendo stock hit resistance level at 20,000 yen. Investors are waiting for the annual meeting for further guidance.

I would assume an Exec from DeNA will be joining the board at some point?

Didn't the two companies purchase minority stake in each other?

I just had a thought. Nintendo is doing a very abnormally large amount of online maintenance this week. What if the maintenance is so they can turn on some of the services that they developed with DeNA during this event? There is precedent for Nintendo doing this sort of thing. The web version of Miiverse launched during an investor briefing.

Yeah, there are way too many consecutive heavy maintenance periods in just a few days. There could seriously be something going on right in time for the Shareholder meeting.

I expect this meeting to be about the same as their E3 showing: Mainly stalling for more time. Their primary studios have moved on to the newer system/systems. Without Zelda coming this year, there's simply not that much to talk about. Only difference with the shareholder meeting is that they're still not going to be ready to talk about QoL, nor will they have much to say on the mobile partnership.

As far as I know, they're making a profit again, so there's that to talk about and then basically "Hey, we're working on doing better in the future".

DeNA aquired 1% of Nintendo, Nintendo aquired 10% of DeNA.

I could see some DeNA representatives joining the board at some point, likely once their joint ventures are on the market.

This has me curious as to how much the shareholders are aware of the general negative reaction from E3 was considering the reports by bigger news websites outside of general gaming journalism such as Bloomberg took notice. The mobile deals and theme park will likely tide them over however.

Not really expecting anything major since they won't open up until next year. That said, we might get some info on the membership system coming later this year. Maybe some tidbits about their first upcoming mobile game.

No DeNA board member will be part of Nintendo's board of directors.

Rosti, do we know if Nintendo's 10% ownership of DeNA are voting shares or non-voting?

Edit: Found it. 11.58% of the 1,301,791 total voting rights as of September 30, 2014

The directors own practically no shares.

If understood Japanese company law correctly the whole board is supposed to be composed of independent directors with no shares in their employer.

It isnt uncommon in the United States for companies to have directors that do not have much if any shares in the company for the same independence concept.

Of course US companies are not required to have independent directors and many (if not most companies) apportion directors with shareholders in mind

This is def the place for DeNA mobile info and QOL, I also expect small tidbits on NX

Also havent Nintendo been operating in the positive as far as money goes for about a year now? If he was gonna be fired it would have been when they were in the negative

I thought it was supposed to launch this calendar year for current platforms. Not necessarily mutually exclusive, I know, but am I misremembering?

Ah, I thought it was end of fiscal year 2016. Thanks for correcting me.

They could give some details at the end of October and then launch it in the following...two weeks? Heck, they could announce it (official name, first details) when the financial results are released, then details at the investor meeting, then launch a few days later.

The stock went down quite a bit after e3, so I imagine they noticed. Either that or they are Metroid fans

To further the question above.. What's the process of buying stock from scratch? Tempted to get some before QoL and mobile details get discussed

1. set up an account with a brokerage (e.g. schwab, eTrade, whatever you want).

2. transfer money into the account from your bank.

3. buy shares.

Right now is probably not a great time to buy. they can sink a little lower still, and I don't think there are any great announcements coming from them until NX stuff. Unless mobile does huge for them I don't see the stock making much of a gain on positive earnings.

Well the stock did go up quite a lot when the mobile partnership was announced.
