Yes, backers are desperate for ANY new pledge tiers and have been quick to jump on them, which is awesome.

anybody thinking the quality of the stream will reflect the quality of the game are looking far too much into it. it only reinforced that yu suzuki knows what he wants for the game, and how he can scale his vision to the funds allowed.

Wonderful. I don't want to hear any crying then that the media is highlighting this stream in a grand conspiracy to undermine Shenmue 3 fans.
And how did that stream prove what I put in bold above?
They should add a $39 version with some inexpensive backer-exclusive perks, like a backer-exclusive title screen. Some kind of "badge of honor" for backers. Currently, you have to pledge too much money for such things, even though they don't cost much.

The stream was fine.
Red shirt guy did well by drawing more attention to the stream. Good questions were answered. We got new tiers. We got new backers and a nice boost in donations.
You guys better be posting red shirt guy gifs in GAF threads. Get people asking where the gifs have come from. Draw in more attention. We need this to be a meme.

The stream was NOT fine. It isn't the end times like some are making it out to be but lets call a spade a spade ok? Most of the money tonight is coming from backers upping their pledges due to the new tiers. A good thing either way of course but I'm not going to call that stream a roaring success 
because he was easily the most confident person on that stream. he gave clear answers with no hesitation or looking at notes. he knows what he wants from shenmue 3. he's stewed on it for 14 years.

We got a 60K boost in funds. The stream did it's job regardless of how unprofessional it was.
Yep, it's now at 3,708,000 and climbing. Something worked. Even though it was rough. At least they can see that they got a response from adding new tiers. That seems to have given the biggest bump. Now they just need to work on getting that physical PS4 version. Hell, if they wrapped it in a $100 tier I think most people would still up their pledge. It is in high demand.

The stream caused an unexpected boost in funding. 60K overall as I stated earlier but it has also boosted us from the usual 25K average to 44K for yesterday and 18K for today when today has only just begun. So a 60K surge that has also created momentum that is sending today's funding in to overdrive.
Regardless of your opinion on the stream it has surged the funding when the campaign previously had almost completely stalled.
EDIT: On the subject of the PS4 physical tier that's an automatic 500K there IMO. There's still hope for this campaign yet.

Again, more money is always good but you've got to be kidding if you don't think a better stream wouldn't have brought in even more money, especially from those who have to be sold on wanting to kickstart Shenmue 3. Hell, I legit couldn't hear the answer to most of the questions. If I wasn't browsing GAF to act as my ears, I wouldn't have even gotten any info from the stream.

I might just be cynical from MN.9, but I'm not asking the dev to promise everything under the sun or overpromise. I'm asking that the overall plan, or general concept even, be laid out before I back a sequel to an "okay" duology.

haven't been following this stream or shenmue threads for a couple days but this has me cringing pretty bad. The faces of the two dudes looking at the guy in red are priceless.

This proves how naiive and bad they were when they made the original tiers. They didn't plan properly at all, but now they are learning. Hope and pray they resolve the rest of the KS super fast so they can catch up to lost time and pledges. *crossing fingers* Here's to hope!

i think a lot of the problem with the stretch goal descriptions come from poor or totally direct translation
in the terms of magic maze, we believe it's a technical term suzuki used to describe detailed environment generation.
AI battling probably means street fights like in shenmue II, or at least sparring partners.
the battle system stuff is a little bit of a mystery... but the ragdoll stuff could relate to taking out multiple opponents, advanced throw moves, and maybe environment related stuff like in shenmue II where tables would tip over and chairs could get kicked around.

Yeah, the stream and update did its work. Now, we just need more of this, new pledge tiers will keep bringing in the money otherwise we're going back to stalling.
Those are my takes on it too. Unfortunately not everyone thinks like this.
We really need to help the Awesome Japan team - so far strictly on the KS page alone, they need to really step up.

The only thing being is that I would have to think that the whole "AI battling" got me confused because I thought "Advanced Free Battle" would be the whole street fight thing.
I just think that right now a whole lot more people would back if they were able to know what exactly the game would be like, how it would improve from the originals, and just the overall focus.
Not going to lie, I had to put down Shenmue 2 and totally forgot the plot since 2002/2003 after I played the first.

I love the funding boost, but they were all to limited availability rewards. Not going to help tomorrow...
They need to work out the physical PS4 particulars and get other, unlimited rewards in the 60-100 dollar range. Force peoples' hands to upgrade from the 29 dollar tier to double that by making it too good to say no to. 100 bucks for physical PS4 release + digital download of the score or something.
