I want to buy this on Vita, but if the PS4 is getting a physical copy then I'll get that one instead :/

I'm banking on Bamco EU to do a physical Vita version, against all the odds.

if Asia has a Vita English physical release - I'll be more than happy to help you get one and ship it to you (at cost).

Wow, I am a little surprised by the hype for this. The past threads were pretty modest in activity. This sounds like a mix between .hack and Persona. I hope this game sells well so we can get more Digimon games in the future, particularly Rumble. I absolutely LOVED the Digimon Rumble games on PS2. We need more of that!

Digimon > Pokemon

Really wanted to buy this, and would have been there day one for a Vita physical copy. Refuse to buy digital though, and I'm not sure I want to play it on a PS4. Not enough to buy it immediately anyway.

Would have got it on Vita if it wasn't coming to PS4. If there is cross save support, I'll by the Vita version digitally when it get's cheap.

Those vita screens!
Im so torn.
Portability+DD only
Or Sweet sweet PS4 retail...

Tie breaker-Does the vita version run well?

The Vita game from the streams I watched had some really noticable aliasing, but generally ran pretty smoothly. Of course, the ps4 version is likely to bring 1080p and 60fps with much better AA, so I probably go for that version myself. I don't really bother with the distinction between retail and digital anymore, and If I wanted to play it on Vita, Remote Play will serve my needs.

But we fucking did it guys! We fucking did it! Dreams come true woohoo!

Man I want to play this, and to be honest I'm not super worried about it being retail only/digital only. I just don't know what to get it for and don't want to wait so long! Right now I'm thinking Vita, just because I'll need something to play on the go most likely even though I never really...go. But Trails in the Sky will be out end of the year and that'll fill my Vita for a while. I guess I've got time. Regardless, Day One.

I hope we don't get PS4 naysayers coming -omg Vita version is holding the PS4 version back-

Here are some screens of the Vita version for those that haven't followed the game much

^Fair warning that some of those are bullshots, the actual Vita release doesn't actually have that perfect AA. The cel-shading and models do look that good though.

Amazing news!

The game looks gorgeous and all the impressions point to it being great.

And if it's coming to Asia (which it definitely will) that means there will be at least an English physical Vita version to import.

Vita day one!!!

Ps. A couple of years ago who would have thought that Vita would still be getting high profile releases in 2016. Now, this, World of FF (and hopefully more to come). Vita means life indeed.

I've been keeping my eyes on this for quite a while, hoping that it'll get a western release. I'm so happy that it's finally coming :')

The only thing better would be Bandai Namco localizing the Gundam Breaker games. I hope to get this day one, provided I can free up enough memory on my 8GB card for it.

What makes this game good? I admittedly don't know one thing about it. Would like to hear impressions because you people are raving lol

you played the actual Vita release? or are you basing this on some trailer or video you watched?

After J-stars I'm not so sure about that....

like @yosp would say, let him dream

I would be more than happy to help with that

Maybe they'll do a limited vita retail release....

if there's an English Asia release, I would be happy to help you get one

I like how Namco is porting everything to PS4. They're doing god's work.

hmm what about the Vita fans that made it possible -supporting SAO:HF, petitions, etc- that made Bandai Namco see that this is actually viable in the West?

EDIT: I wonder how many people look at those screens and think it's the PS4 version

Well many people are excited due to having a new digimon game and a lot of us are fans of Digimon and the Digimon games. It's especially big because we can't even play the classics on PSN and now we're getting a game like them but bigger and it looks great.

A very good story (on par with the best Digimon shows)
A good battle system, although the difficulty is on the easy side aside from optional late game sidequests and DLC battles
The evolution system is really good. I spent hours just evolving and devolving my Digimon. There's a lot of depth to be found there, and you can really experiment quite a bit with your team.
A masterful soundtrack

It's really everything I ever wanted from a Digimon game. I got to evolve a lot of my favorite Digimon, participate in enjoyable battles, and wander around Tokyo and digital locations with my Digimon trailing behind me, all while playing through a really good story with some amazing twists (seriously, everyone who hasn't played this game needs to avoid any wikis or forum impressions on the story, because there are some incredible twists).

Multiple twitch streams and direct gameplay that I've seen. Just go on youtube and watch a couple of the walkthroughs.

Now JStars on the other hand, I have no ideas what's up with that, care to fill me in? It's not like Bamco can't do a good home console release; the new SAO and Zestiria remaster looks to be shaping up pretty well, bar the games suddenly being broken on release.

Is it worth waiting for an EU / AU release, or just import the PS4 physical release?

For anyone that's been following it closely, what's the critical reception like? The production values seem solid, but not entirely indicative of the overall quality.

Having played the game, I can attest to it being of the highest quality. And most other people on GAF who played the game seemed to feel similarly good about the game. If you read through the import thread, it was very positive.

Trust me, this is an excellent game.

I've never played a Digimon game but considering how much I enjoy some of the tv series, I might give the PS4 version a shot. I'm liking the art style and I can't say no to more RPGs.

don't they look almost similar to the PS3 versions?
I don't see how the PS4 version is gonna be much better (bar the preferences to play on a big screen and all that) - it seems like Bamco is just doing minimum portjob with a minimal up-scale
