Witcher 3 expansions "almost size of Witcher 2"

Nice.
I probably get the expansions next year when I want another RPG fix and play them back to back.

That's what I'm scared of. I don't want it to end so I'm taking my time and doing every secondary quest. Please CDPR, patch in NG+ !

A NG+ would break the game but I'd still play it. I want to do another playthrough but scavenging around for the Witcher armor again is a bit off putting.

So they only mean the amount of time that it takes to complete it? Will there be any new locations? Because new content is great, but I kinda want to see some new scenery.

Has there been any word on when these expansions take place? I think it would be interesting to what effect your choices in the game would have on the post-game world, and I also think the continuity would make things more enjoyable.

Ending spoiler:
The only issue, of course, is that it seems as if Geralt dies in one of the endings. I guess we'll see.

literally the poster above you. Wondering how much time you spent with it? honestly I didn't play it but the few games I played were a fun distraction.
Gwent is pretty good. The game itself is fun, the music during it is rockin, and the card collecting is one of the more rewarding factors of this minigame.

That said, it does lack depth once you learn its in's and out's and it's a bit too dependent on the quality of your deck, making for easily imbalanced matches that have little to do with skill/strategy. Still very happy to have it in the game, though. Love a good minigame.

The second expansion that comes early 2016 offers a new location.

Always hated card games in RPGs. Witcher 3 does nothing to alleviate that hate. Hopefully there will be more locals to pummel instead.

After 150 hours for one play through I'm not sure I'll be in the mood for more Witcher 3 when these come out. if there are significant gameplay additions I may be tempted but I'm not looking for more of the same.

It doesn't help that the AI is pretty dumb. After a bunch of games you can figure out their patterns and use that against them. I'd like to play against actual people and see how I do.

I think the main campaign of witcher 3 was a little short by an hour or 2 of exposition.

But more stuff in the witcher 3 is always good.

I'm most excited about new Gwent cards, but they really need to add end-game opponents. Opponents with randomized decks that can challenge you every time. Or just implement multiplayer Gwent functionality!

Multi-player gwent would be the best thing ever.

1st expansion take place in Velen, though I'm guessing it may have some new area's in Velan that we haven't seen

2nd expansion the entire thing takes place in a new, never before seen location

I think I'm gonna hold out on all this DLC.

I'm already leaving a fair bit of sidequests to do for a 2nd playthrough later on, just so things are fresh and I haven't done *everything* ya know? Plus having a couple expansions should be good and any further improvements and additions through patches or whatever. And of course getting the Season Pass cheap.

This wont happen til 2016-2017, though. New GPU, new monitor(at least 1440p), 4k resolution. Shit will be glorious.

G.L.O.R.I.O.U.S.

I will actually buy the expansion because this game is awesome. Gwent is life.

Hopefully this DLC happens after the main story. I hate content that comes out later, but chronologically takes place in the middle of the game. I hope is more like Dragon Age expansions and not Mass Efect.

I'm only playing this game once is my reasoning.

the amount of content and value in the complete package (which they probably will release as a GOTY version somewhere down the line should be quite staggering.

Do we have any idea how much these expansions will cost? They sound great and will be there day one regardless.

Really wish the rest of the industry would look at the success of Witcher 3 and follow that business model.

Holy shit I love Gwent. The dragon card that destroys your opponent's 10+ strength is LEGENDARY. If I don't get that card while playing against a monster deck, I forfeit immediately.

:)

That would make a lot of sense for the first expansion.

It's a bit vague

Old friends could refer to someone like Triss, but also to someone that only appeared in Witcher 1 or 2.

That's good news. I just finished my second playthrough and I'm honestly far more interested in getting more story content than a bunch of new quests. It was kinda annoying how little optional dialogue a lot of those characters had, though I wouldn't mind it if we saw some old characters return either.

Outstanding. I've been savoring every minute of Witcher 3; I'll happily invest in more. CDPR continues to impress.

Uh, in the interview he pretty much confirmed a stand alone gwent game is coming, didn't he? A little before the 8 minute mark.

And for £20 too. I'm getting into some of the meatier quests in the game now, and can definitely see myself purchasing the expansions. Just an excellent game all round really.

Very slow burn for me, but I'm very much enjoying it now.

I just hope the expansions actually take place after Witcher 3 and not somewhere before the final part.

I think Gwent needs a few more mechanics to work as a standalone game. End game Gwent is essentially dictated by who can use the most spies.

Biting frosts are an even easier way of dealing with monster decks, especially if you have one on the first turn, because you can then effectively bait the AI into passing then get a free round using frost + a powerful unit.

Sure but the potential is there. If they can get the balance right there are far more tactics you can use than in something like Hearthstone.

I'll buy it without even blinking. True expansions on top of an already massive and incredible experience? Yes please.

Indeed, Witcher 3 has been a very satisfying game. Breath of fresh air in a tired and stretched genre. They've set the new standard for me. Already have the expansion pass purchased.

They should just remove Gwent from the game, whenever I pick the wrong dialogue option and end up in a gwent game I have to alt-F4, uninstall the game in format my computer

They've already said that due to the way the game ends, the timeline for these will run along with the main story.

Uhh.... really?

You do know the card icon in dialog options is what starts Gwent, right? You can just ignore it.

please have a NG+ available by then, i would like to amend all the screw ups when i get into the expansions. (i hope the expansions are new areas or based in skillege, best area ever)
