Atlus x Vanillaware HD Project

I love VanillaWare's artwork, but the gameplay in most of their titles is just lacking and quickly becomes repetitive. Their standout game for me was GrimGrimoire - that game was exceptional.

Dragon's Crown was an exception to the rule. The massive amounts of things you can do with the Dwarf alone is far above shit in OS.

Let's hope this time around they smack a good game alongside incredible art.

Looks like you didn't play DC. Go do so right now.

Strictly from a gameplay perspective, I think GrimGrimoire is their best.

Overall, probably that as well, if not Odin Sphere. The storytelling is just on a whole other level. Both are great, though.

Dragon's Crown, Muramasa 2 or new IP? Hope they make it variety in gameplay. Dragon's Crown has lots of content but it's repetitive like their previous games

Edit: oh, look like Atlus doesn't own Muramasa. Oh well :(

Keeping expecations in check so this will be probably be an HD port of Odins Sphere. But secretly hoping this is a sequel or enhanced remake.

I was just about to create a new thread about this. Would've been my first thread, thank God I saw this before I got post lol.

Huge Vanillaware fan here, whatever they're going to show, I cant wait!

Odin Sphere Rebirth, GrimGrimoire HD or Princess Crown HD would be welcome. Please no more Dragon's Crown though, the 4 direction movement in that game was incredibly clunky at times.

Edit: That teaser is totally Odin Sphere, the sprout is the exact same as the ones you grow into trees during stages.

Dragon's Crown 2, here we go!

Nippon Ichi
GrimGrimoire

Marvelous
Grand Knights History
Muramasa

Atlus
Odin Sphere
Dragon's Crown

So those are the options that Atlus have. They also own Princess Crown, which was something Kamitani designed before founding Vanillaware.

Anything but mobile, that's all I ask. I'd play a dancing game if Vanillaware made it, but please keep it off mobile.

"Touch me" could refer as smartphones have touch screens but maybe far fetched. Odin Sphere was in 4:3 on PS2 so "HD" would make sense as they'd have to work on it for mobile screens.

Good to know that they're alive though, I'll take anything even if I can't play it if it's on mobile.

Wow! Yes! I was wondering when Vanillaware would announce their next game. I love their games! Remake/port/sequel/new IP whatever, I'm in day one! Unless it's mobile, though considering how well Muramasa and Dragon's Crown did for them, I'm not sweating too much.

Considering that seed bud, it's most likely Odin Sphere 2 or Odin Sphere HD. Now it's starting to make sense why Odin Sphere merchandise has started to reappear.

If it is Odin Sphere related, I hope they update the gameplay because dear god, it's a hard game to finish. Not hard in difficulty, but repetition.

Yeah I don't see how anyone could be excited to play Odin Sphere again (and again and again and again).

I'd probably get it again at a reasonable price but drop it after 10 hours

When you touch the seed bud, I'm pretty sure the sounds that play are from Odin Sphere.

What's with all the hate for Odin's Sphere? Game was repetitive, but enjoyable. I loved the presentation and all the gameplay mechanics. Odin Sphere on the Vita would be so amazing!

Nothing beats Vanillaware for art and 2d in my book but will be disappointed if anything but a new game. Fingers crossed!!!

I can understand getting bored with everything from Muramasa and earlier. But Dragon's Crown is a damn fine ARPG beat em up with a shitload of content. I have 80 hours on the Elf alone. It could use an expansion with more maps and enemy types, but the base game is awesome.

My bet is either this is going to be a series of HD Remasters of prior work (Odien Sphere for example) or a new projects with Atlus (a RPG by them would be very interesting :D).

Agreed 100%
It's Vanillaware's best game IMO.

I hope it's Vanillaware doing the graphics and Atlus doing the gameplay because we all know majority of Vanillaware games aren't what you call fun and interesting sans the graphics.

A 2D Action game by Atlus? That would be interesting to see.
Probably wouldn't be much good though.

I spend like 100 hours in Dragon's Crown on the Vita. I would definitely welcome a new game in that series. The fun combat and loot system was awesome for a 2D beat em up game.

Gameplay was good but for a 8 hour action game not for a bloody 40 hour RPG.

I couldn't even bother finishing Gwendolyn's chapter let alone the whole game.
