Hyper 212x is a pain to install, idle temperature is 5~10 degrees lower than stock cooler, I don't know if that's its best, because I had to remove it multiple times due to the design being shit(screwed up the thermal paste a bit).

I've never found any aftermarket CPU cooler to be easy to install, you would think someone would make one that was easier to install.

Morning guys.

Chivalry night was a lot of fun, poking Chariot in the face was so satisfying ;)

I'm setting another game for next week, candidates for now are The Ship and Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed, we can decide and I'll post the countdown timer around wednesday.

Told you :p

Depends. Noctua make the best mounting kits which everyone copies their design these days but socket type, case layout and such can contribute more to the difficulty of installation. A really easy way to do things with massive heatsinks is to install them before mounting your motherboard in your case (might make that installation a bit more fiddly but it's the lesser of two evils) but that's not always an option especially if you are doing a heatsink swap. 775 socket installation I remember was a right pain, 1150 was a doddle to get the mounting bracket on but fitting with the motherboard installed in a Corsair 750D case was a knuckle dragger at the top but the combination of 2011 socket and a Fractal Define R4 is literally 2 minutes work as it's soo easy with mounting posts built into the motherboard and plenty of space to work with.

End of the day take your time, make sure you have some TIM cleaner and lint free cloths (or coffee filters are a perfect substitute) to clean things up if you mess up and it shouldn't be that hard. Peeps I help out with PC installs all seem to be terrified of installing a CPU cooler like it's some do or die situation but you really have to fuck up to kill things for good. Usually find they've been too frugal with thermal paste or not enough tension to make a good connection than been slap happy or over tightened but it is one of those things that practice makes perfect.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Steam Idle Master 1.0 has been released. This version should automatically update for those that already have 0.9 installed within the next 24 hours.

Here is a list of changes made in this release:
  • Increased program stability and reliability.
  • Idle Master will now run multiple games simultaneously when it begins if it detects multiple games that have less than 2 hours of playtime.
  • Idle Master will now check for new games with card drops each time it changes games. (I call this the "Frosty Feature"!)
  • Fixed a bug in remaining card drop calculation due to changes made by Valve.
  • Idle Master will now check (and attempt to restart) any steam-idle.exe process that isn’t running when it’s supposed to be.
  • Added basic error logging that will output to an error.log file, which can be helpful in troubleshooting certain scenarios.
A "portable" version is also available for download from http://www.steamidlemaster.com. If you are currently running the portable version of Idle Master, simply download the new portable version and extract the files over the top of your existing ones to update.

You can also force the update by re-running the setup program from the website.

Thank you everyone for your patience as this release took longer than usual in testing. Happy Idling!

Edit: Good grief is unpatched Far Cry 4 a mess. Also I think Uplay is giving my monitor image retention the bastard!

Max temperature is 10 degrees lower, so there's that. Not sure if I should open the case and re-screw it.

Sounds about right. Noise should be a lot less I'd imagine.

My Corsair H50 was pretty easy to install, only took 10 mins. The best part is all you hear is the pump spooling up when you start.

Finally over the difficulty hump in Enemy Within. It really is a massive improvement on the original campaign which was great to begin with. Two fully geared double tapping snipers who coincidentally are both Indian and female, Drifter and Spider. Those girls could take a hair off the head of a Muton at 1000 yards.

Clever way to keep idling reasonable even with the 2 hour limit.

My last screw was particularly hard to align, and I only managed to get a few turns in, don't know where I screwed up.

Did you tighten the screws in a criss-cross pattern evenly? I have a 212 Evo and yeah, the cross bar to tighten the heatsink is tricky if you don't have the space. For $20, can't complain though. 4.2Ghz on a 3570k in a room without AC is pretty good.

Does that mean it also fixes the annoyance when you get the last card of a game but you want to 'manually' switch to the next game (and not wait for the current 5-minute interval to end), that pausing and resuming idling just continues to idle the game you're down with. You need to restart the program to get it back on track.

Basically a 'refresh badge page' command without exiting it first.

Of course, but the X arm feels a bit short. Turning the cross around actually fits better IMO, but then it couldn't hold the heatsink in place due to one tiny part sticking out on the heatsink.

Hmm, there's a little hole in the middle base of the heatsink, should fit the little pin in the middle of the x arm. Maybe that's the problem? That part is the most annoying thing when mounting the 212 in my experience.

I know, to fit that little pin, the cross arm feels not long enough, turn it around won't fit that little pin.

Yeah, it feels that way but it'll fit right somehow, just like twisting the usb port, hah. Oh well, if your temp is fine you'll probably mount it right. You only have to overclock your CPU now, obviously :D

So Valve is afraid that people will be pissed if hey release HL3 and it is not that good while people are already pissed because Valve is ignoring every question about HL3. Well maybe somebody should hack their internal network and release HL3 build (i am sure there is one even if it is 5 years old) maybe then they would do something.

The Shadows of Pygmalion.

Well, I'm getting that.

In other news, after that rousing round of Chivalry earlier today, I finished up the main of Arkham Oranges. That 7/10 Game of the OK cover basically summarizes how I feel. The last "boss fight" is a joke, and while the psycho Bane fight was somewhat unique, it made me feel less like Batman and more like Newt from Aliens, and Gordon's speech at the end was laughable. Some of the predator sections stood out to me as being well designed, and the sections in Blackgate really echoed of Asylum in the best way possible. Troy Baker's Joker (despite the reliance in the character in general), I thought was great, and Roger Craig Smith was good a younger Bruce. The standout portion of the game to me was Bane's section. They played up his intellect which created a real dichotomy with his venom addiction, and made it that much better when Bats realizes how smart he is and the danger he poses and we even get a scene fairly reminiscent of Knightfall (though they kind of re-negged on that near the end with the side-effects stuff). I think the game was smart to have him take a more central role to the overall plot, but I think it could have been pushed even more.

Unfortunately, the other assassins are all pretty bunk. Deadshot was a chump, and Shiva was just "bleh", and both of them were reduced to side quest chains(even less important than Anarky, even) with no fanfare or pizazz. Croc goes down in the tutorial, and the Electrocutioner is essentially this game's Johnny Sasaki. The Slade fight was very well coregraphed, but essentially boils down to a QTE fight. Bane gets multiple fights, most of which were par for the course, and that leaves Firefly and Copperhead. Copperhead is pretty much introduced and defeated in the same scene, but at least the fight was ememies-filling-the-screen fun (the painfully slow poisoned walking not so much).

Firefly, believe it or not, I think has the best showing aside from Bane. He seems like a real threat to the city and not just Mercenary # 7, and his whole section on the bridge was super fun and diverse, with lots of puzzles, interesting level design, and a pretty spacious predator room. All in all, it's another Arkham game, so you know what you're getting. The Suicide Squad tease at the end piques my interest for WB Montreal's whack at a different style of game, and hopefully they can pick some inspired choices for the cast. Now to play the waiting game for a new rig and Knight.

I do have to say though, the hotel section with the long fall, was the high point of the game for me story and character-wise. Joker's realization of his relationship with Bats reminded me of Batman: The Deal, which is one of my favorite comics about the two, and I think they really could have had something if they dug into the character like that more.

Well at least Oranges has boss fights.

Speaking of creatures of the night that fill me with dread I'm not that fussed about stumbling into a Bear about to tear my guts apart, or a Tiger that wants a cuddle in Far Cry 4 but the moment I see an Eagle circling above I run as far away as I can. Absolute bastards they are and the worst thing is you next to never see them coming.

Hahaha right now I'm just off to a village to find a merchant to clear out all the shit I've picked up (although tea bags are worth 2,300 ruppes or what ever fictional currency) and I can hear masses of gun fire. You'd think it was the rebels and the army going at it but no it's 4 guys trying to shoot an eagle out the air. There were 5 but the eagle killed one of them. Total fuckers!

I can't believe nobody here in my country wanna buy my PS1, Gamecube or Dreamcast, all of which are in really good, if not perfect condition.

Anyway, I gotta complete Episode 2 of Life Is Strange before July 28. I arrived at the diner, am I halfway through?

What are the recommended mods for Stalker: Call of Pripyat?

Mainly want ones that polish it up visually and in removing the kind of jank that impedes on enjoyment

For those of you that are playing Cradle, is it more like Gone Home or something like Antichamber?

It is neither like Antichamber with some mindblowing puzzles, or like Gone Home with a really strong atmosphere. There are notes here and there to get a grasp of the story, the gameplay is a lot more like Anna, but better.

I struggled to get a good framerate and had to lower the graphics options. Now it is fine.

I don't want this game from the bundle.

lol secrets of grindea is not a very promising name for a game

not very familiar with stalk:cop but i'm guessing complete mod is the essential like it usually is on the stalky games

it improves graphics, sound, ai, adds new mechanics, you name it

Cheers, I know that's the big one for SoC, but not sure if there's one for CoP.

If there is, hope its compatible with W8/10
