Dragon Quest 11 Announced! [PS4/3DS (simultaneous), NX (tentative)]

Because it is 2015 and the Japanese gaming market is small compared to the rest of the world now. Announcing a new game for Japan and making fans wonder for years if they will even get it in the west is the type of stuff you pull in the 90s, not in the present day.

You're not going to be wondering for years though. You guys need to be patient. It's coming.

have you frequented many dragon quest threads the past three years? Sorry for not sharing your optimism, but I have been waiting years for a certain dragon quest localization that a certain company refuses to make an announcement for.

I don't want just he PS4 version. I want both versions.

I'm not going to be happy at all if both SKUs don't make it over. They're both incredibly appealing games and both titles deserve to be played by everyone who's interested.

Besides DQ XI being only on PS4 and not on PS3 is already pretty telling. I wouldn't be surprised if Sony was involved in the PS4 version.

I love this current SQE. Their outputs have been really incredible the past few years. And they still have games like KH3/FFVIIR/FFXV/DQ11 coming. Holyshit man how could they manage all of this?
Are we talking about the japanese SE?
Because their output wasn't so incredible the last few years.

Why? They've only JUST announced the game. That comment means nothing. Likelihood is that the PS4 version at the very least will make it overseas. France will eat it up, given the popularity of Dragon Quest and the PS4 there, for example.

Plus I doubt they'd put all that money into an expensive looking Dragon Quest game for a the console and keep it in Japan where PS4 doesn't look too hot. No doubt it is being made with a global push in mind.

I'm not entirely serious, but until they announce it it's just another DQ game we're not getting. They have no problem making international announcements for their other games.

Well, PS4 version is beautiful, but the 3DS game is pure magic. And maybe the (still not 100% confirmed) NX version will have some extras, so...

Triple dip? Triple dip.

At this point I wonder if the "First on PS4" at the end of FFVII Remake's teaser was reporting a chance not only for a Xbox One version and/or a PC version.

I'm gonna be sad when the 3DS version has super cool crossover content featuring earlier games because they can reuse those assets and that version doesn't get localized...

Double dipping for sure if they do, though. Bring it all on.

Enough to know that you shouldn't expect a western release announcement to happen after the game is JUST announced for Japan.

Square Enix haven't been handling the series well at all, but I think it's pretty clear that at the very least, the PS4 version will make it over.

In the space between now and this games potential release you could probably learn enough grammar and kanji to play it in Japanese anyway.I'd rather have the English version but fuck it if I'm going to keep waiting for SE anymore.

So Verendus's other 2 games were DQ10 (also "a HD port of existing mainline title) and DQ11. He was hinting another spin-off but that's to be announced quite a bit later on I guess.

Ehhhh. It could be a negative. It killed my interest in buying a Wii U until a major price drop or NX's backwards compatibility is revealed. I'm not going to pay $200 for a years worth of a console's life.

Super pumped for this game. It looks so beautiful. As soon as a CE is revealed I'm all in on it for PS4.

Nintendo's killed that interest already by announcing the NX in the first place, followed by that E£ where they made it obvious they aren't deloping any major new titles for it. They also haven't even dropped the price.

As far outward signs of Nintendo showing they don't care about the Wii u. There's not much more they can actually do without officially stating it. SE knows this.

Getting major DQ8 vibes here. Man this game looks so good!

Me too. The graphical style is closer to what I wanted than I thought would possibly happen. It's better than what I wanted, actually.

Now I'm hyped for both the 3DS and PS4 versions.

Hope both come westward so I can buy both.

Gonna get Dragon Quest Heroes to show my support when that comes out later.

i understand they probably think its not smart to make an announcement for localization right now, but like I said: its 2015, games are announced globally now. When FF7 remake was announced it was a global announcement. When FF15 and KH3 were announced at an english event, it was also confirmed as a global release. Same with Star Ocean, Nier 2, and their new IP rpg. The problem is dragon quest. Square refuses to just say "yes this game is coming to the west."

That's exactly my point. Everything is announced as a global release.

DQ though? "lol maybe"

Dragon Quest Heroes was not announced for localisation until quite some time after its reveal. And that's during a Sony TGS conference.

DQXI was announced in a Japanese-language only event that also announced an arcade release of a DQ game. It wasn't an international event, was never meant to be. Like a lot of Japan-first games, the only option is to wait.

Yeah why the can't commit to localization of at least the PS4 is baffling. They have so many games in the pipeline for that platfrom already confirmed for the West...
