Life Is Strange |OT| Rewinder Me

Super clever trick they used in the pool party scene, to not stress the engine too hard, all the people dancing in the pool are low res, low frames 2D sprites that always face you when you go around the pool but the illusion work because they added circular water movement around their body on the one closer to you so your eye don't see the trick. Because of the low lightning on the pool and the distance, I didn't noticed the first time around ! I love these little illusions and tricks to save resource. I think it's clever and serve the general quality of the game, the more important stuff that need more focus

Lol, those 2D pool dancers immediately jumped out at me, i thought the effect looked pretty dumb, maybe my brightness is too high or something.

Sorry if this mini-theory has already made the rounds:
Does anyone else think that the Prescotts are enabling Jefferson in order to keep him at the school? He's a famous and respected photographer and it seems a lot of students went there specifically for him. The Prescotts certainly have money but I'm wondering why he wouldn't be teaching college classes instead.

How do you
get into the Vortex Club VIP section? I've tried like everything including rewinding and talking to Courtney.

Ugh I hate how the game slows to a crawl when you can't figure out what to do.

I too had a problem with that and the solution is weird:
Go to the side without people and push the giant lane pool equipment into the pool and walk past then rewind to before you pushed it.

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
But I didn't turn him down, Warren is a total dreamboat and we are meant to be together FOREVER AND EVER

Why will you choose a beta guy lol

And victoria is a bitch but we've been ok in my game so she did listen to me albeit reluctantly.

Been listening to the Spotify playlist for this game for the past few days, props the the guy who curated and put it together, it adds so much to the game. Any chance the developer might issue a vinyl version of it, I'd pay so much for it.

One bit of the gameplay
putting all the pieces of information together felt really fun. I hope more games go this far as opposed to Push A to Solve The Crime

It has always been dark, it is just becoming more obvious. ;)

I suppose.

I guess I expected it to go more
supernatural
dark than
snuff
dark.

Once we got to the
barn
I was like damn I didn't expect it to go there

Yeah for sure.

I really enjoyed this part too. Put the hi-fi on in the background, and it ended up being super chill going through everything up to that point.

Here is my take on what episode 5 might entail. Spoilers obviously:

You get to fiddle around with the past by using the photo Warren took of him and Max right before they enter the party. The same way you did with the photo of Chloe and Max with William.

End of Episode 4 spoilers.

I KNEW IT! I'm glad I blamed Jefferson in the principal's office.

I have to wonder if he would have still shown up had I didn't blame him, but I don't think the story changes that much based on decisions.

Episode 5 can't come soon enough.

EDIT (more spoilers):
Frank could have died? Wow. I guess at that point you'd just take the client list from him? Also part of the 13% who found David's code, yay.

This was the worst episode for me.

The rewind was bugged for me. I had to redo entire conversations from the beginning over and over and over again and had to restart to a checkpoint because Max got stuck in rewind mode. That was frustrating.

And I felt the pacing was a little off (though the bug definitely had something to do with that) and the choices weren't there for me. There was no buildup or immediate pay off for a lot of them. And I felt a lot of it was out of character for Max.

I think the "CSI" minigame was amazing, the story is coming together in a very intricate and awesome way, and I love how fleshed out some of the ancillary characters are.

Just finished episode 4 and that ending tho!!!

I wasn't that surprised it was mr Jeff honestly cause he always came off as kind of creepy. I thought the part where they found Rachel and the deer disappeared was a nice touch. Her spirit can finally move on now that she was found.

That is currently my working theory as well -
I definitely think it's possible that they're aware of what he's doing but are enabling him so he'll be a mentor to their son, because it seemed unusual for such a well-known photographer to work at a school that size. Since the Prescott's more or less own Blackwell Academy and want to own the surrounding area, they'd want the best to be teaching at that school. In many of the texts/notes to him, Jefferson also talks about teaching him, mentoring him, etc. I think it's possible that it started out more innocently but has gotten darker and darker, ultimately culminating in Rachel Amber's death, which sent the kid spiraling out of control.

Feels so damn good to say this this is for sure a game of the year contender. Sure the gameplay is about what you'd expect( though there is some clever stuff in here!) but what is making it special is that I have some actual emotional investment in this, which I did not expect. Its also been somewhat goofy, balancing things out very well. Only other game that did this for me was deadly premonition. Man I cant wait for episode 5.

This episode feels much longer than the others.

I'm pretty sure it is. It took me quite a lot longer than any of the other ones.

Loved this episode, probably the best so far [end of chapter spoilers]
except if there's no way to save Chloe. Then I'd hate this episode. Come on, let Rachel/William being the snow doe/the selfie we took with Warren/David investigating before we even did/Frank who digs me/all the people that I've chosen to be cool with leading to a good ending/Samuel the janitor (who seems to know we have time powers or at least know some shit more than he lets on)/the homeless woman/the fucking Tobanga/something, ANYTHING be useful in Episode 5 and let me feel like my choices helped save Chloe and lead to a satisfying and fulfilling ending, let me have agency, the game's done a great job on that front so far, let me make the same difference for Chloe as I did with Kate, don't have her killed for a 6th time/stay dead after the 5th time!

Rewind is bugged for a lot of people but there's a workaound for this: Use the left trigger to rewind, not the shoulder button.

Throwing my crazy episode 5 prediction into the ring:
Max will rewind time all the way back to beginning, but it will cost her life. As her last act she wrestles the gun from dipshit in the girls bathroom, charges into photo class and shoots Mr. Jefferson and somehow leaves a note saying yo look at this creepy fucking barn with a creepy dark room filled with horrible photos. The end.

No one would believe a person like that.

BTW, what happens if you blame Jefferson in Episode 2?

This is what actually happens:
alternate timeline Max gained tornado powers instead of time powers, and original timeline Max brought alt Max into the current timeline because of her shenanigans. Super power battle between both Maxes ensue, with only one Max and one possible timeline surviving with the other being destroyed.

Finished episode 2

Great game, great soundtrack, great montages, great teasers

Already got my £16 worth out of it easily, and there's another 3 episodes to go :D

I know this is a little silly, but can I see an E1/2 soundtrack without spoiling the songs from episodes 3-5? Wanna listen to some of the songs but don't want to know what's coming up.

saved Kate (tense as fuck) and told the Principal about Nathan's gun. Assume you get suspended no matter what.

Spent at least 7 hours on it so far, don't know why its taking me so long compared to others. At least 15 minutes of that was
finding one of the bottles
though :p

This is a small piece of supporting evidence but I'll mention it
If Nathan was posing with Rachel's body than someone else would have had to take that photo and it was probably Jefferson
.

This game's totally at its best right now for me. So beautiful, oh my god, I have to stop every few moments and take everything in. My interest dropped off quite a bit since episode 1, but I'm back for good LiSGAF. Should go back to sportin an avatar.

Loving this so far but the cliffhanger at the end of 4 could go both ways for me. Hope the story doesn't get too silly. I have a theory though which I think works...

The teacher loved the result of Nathan's twisted actions and the art it produced so he's joined up with him or encouraged it.

Or he's trying to save them in a weird way. But the fact Chloe was shot kinda goes against that.

Gonna be a long wait til ep 5 either way.

Does anybody think there might be too much to tie up in one last episode? It seems like there's a lot of character arcs left unresolved. I hope the ending doesn't disappoint.

How do we think
Max is going to escape the dark room then? Nobody knows she's there :(
It's pretty obvious, don't know if you want it spoiled as I got in the spoiler thread...
David
.

I'm a bit bummed that after this ending it becomes clear your choices don't really amount to anything. There's agency over the characters but not really the story. Well I guess it's no different than something like mass effect.

My speculation is that because
Max is now incapacitated in Episode 5, we do not play Max for a large portion of it. We play as time-traveling Rachel Amber!

Everyone in the town seemed to like Rachel Amber, so maybe she has been using her powers to influence people into liking her - like Max does. Players would get to play with the same power, but get a side-story to fill narrative holes.

It would be silly for Max to escape quickly from such a dire situation, and I don't think Dontnod will force players to do an hour long conversation with Jefferson... so it seems right to introduce a second playable character to fix things

Also and ending with both Max and Rachel using powers together seems a good cocktail to produce the huge storms of death!

I am going to go back through again before episode 5 and change a few minor things.

episode 4 spoiler
I wonder what daniel in episode 4 has to do with this. that decision seemed kind of strange to me

I wasn't expecting too much from the game, after completing the first episode. But as soon as I finished watching the conclusion of episode 3, I'm now hooked.
As for episode 4, my heart was crushed, seeing Choie's fate in the alternate universe. The scenes with her wheel chair bound are both fantastic & depressing. Ultimately, I felt making the choice to help Chloe end her life was heart wrenching, but it was the right thing to do. I wouldn't be surprised to see this come into play, especially with the idea of a reality merger. Now as for Mr. Jefferson, I can't say I didn't see this coming, but I wasn't expecting him to work with Nathan on a crazy photography rape/drug dungeon ploy. I don't know how Max will get out of this without suffering from extreme emotional/physical trauma, along with Nathan getting his revenge for her ruining his life.
