Silent Hill Pachislot 3.0 Reveal Trailer ; It's a retelling of Silent Hill 2

Silent Hill Pachislot 3.0 reveal trailer.

I thought this deserved a topic of its own, the official reveal trailer for the game. We got a teaser of Pyramid Head earlier, but as this new trailer shows, this new 'game' is a retelling of Silent Hill 2, as we follow James Sunderland into the town of Silent Hill... As a pachislot machine. Shows off a bunch of cinematic stuff in the trailer.

I'll keep my opinion to myself for a bit, but warning, trailer has a lot of loud audio, so might want to keep volume in check.

Haha awesome. This will probably be the first machine I ever play, which is proof that it's it's a great idea. Konami really know business.

I'll add something right now, there's some Resident Evil pachislot machines that exist that are kind of fun dumb, the first one is a 'retelling' of Resident Evil 1, the second a 'retelling' of Resident Evil 5. Here's a trailer of that Pachislot machine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSO07qBxQnQ

That was fine, there's a ton of different versions of RE1, it's a hammy game to begin with, and Capcom still is actively making RE games, response to games is another story, but that's a-okay.

This becomes almost offensive though with the timing, with P.T. cancelled, a terrible HD edition before that, and then taking one of the most beloved titles in the franchise and turning it into a pachislot game, made more hilarious the original game is considered a masterpiece in story telling and subtlety, and the trailer is full of loud audio screams, jump scares, 'creepy' imagery like eyes and such which have no belonging. As a horror enthusiast, I half find it hilarious, half want to quietly sob to myself over this.

I hate thinking about the IPs this company holds, the products they used to release and what they're doing now. There's no turning back at this point.

this might be the biggest offender for me. A lot would be forgiven if they had done the HD collection justice.

Has Konami constantly been putting out machines like this and Erotic Violence? Like - this trailer is really funny. It really feels like it is deliberately trying to piss on fans of their series. I assume it is just business as usual though?

No, this is an extreme even for them. But that's part of why I find the trailer hilarious, it's literally like they tried to make the trailer specifically to piss on their fanbase. It almost seems like a parody.

They probably force all there employees to test this with there measley pay packet

Or some kind of punishment for taking too much time at lunch

Do they really advertise with these? I mean I've never seen an ad for a slot machine or any other gambling machine over here in the states. Is this even necessary?

they're big in japan, and I imagine that's what this ad is aimed at

But aren't all of these essentially the same thing, just with a different coat of paint? I find it bizarre that they're so tight fisted with cash but can find the ad money to throw away on a slot machine.

I really can't stop laughing. I'll wait for the Konami defense force to arrive while i'm looking for my liver.

I'm definitely not part of a Konami defense force; but it is their property and they can do with it as they wish. I'd sure rather play this than regular pachiko.

We'll, if you're going to rape the corpse of a dead games series best entry, Silent Hill 2 is pretty much the most aptly ironic choice possible.

Pyramid Head would be proud!

Fuck Konami.

I won't lie... I was so excited I completely skipped the "pachislot machine" in the title, I didn't notice until I opened the video.

So pachinkos are just slot machines basically?

Why the fuck is this such a huge thing in Japan and why do they need major fucking IPs attached to it?

Might as well ask why gambling is such a big thing here and why we have people becoming millionaires strictly from twitch. We're all fucking stupid.

They already did this:

why not a pachinko? Besides, basically every big IP has a pachinko version (except Nintendo stuff, maybe? I guess they don't want to be involved with gambling).

Man, Konami's on fire with this stuff.

They just have absolutely no remorse on what they're doing at this point.

Oh god, I was better off missing this shit.

The obvious explanation is that it is perceived as being done to the detriment of regular games, which isn't an unfair assumption given the context.

Konami has to be deliberately trolling at this point. Half the stuff they do seem less like business decisions and more like actively trying to piss off fans.
