Yes! I've beaten all of the bottom row levels.
One of the biggest plattforming challenges I've ever done.
Such a troll you unlock even more difficult expert levels after that. Won't touch these anytime soon.
Get blackout drunk, play a bunch of them. Come back the next morning, hungover as F, and see how far you got.

Search "N++ tracktip" on soundcloud for the full playlist. I've asked (via Twitter) Raigan Burns about getting the soundtrack as a complete package and he mentioned it's unlikely due to the licensing hurdles for that many artists.

You could buy the tracks individually, I'm sure.

edit: Here's the link to the soundcloud playlist.

Does that missile pass through those floors/mines?

Yep! :(
The trick seems to be
jumping straight up in the double-height spaces, making the missile circle around you and then running like hell to the next one.
Of course doing that fast and accurately is really hard with such tight "corridors" and so many mines. I've managed to get to the button, but still haven't learned how to make my way back to the door.

you can do that, there is even a trophie for that!

Go to the level you want , switch to global scores, choose a name of a player and push X

ps: finished ALL solo levels with legacy too and have only 3 secrets. Wish they would give some hints

Wow! I didn't even know that. Thanks!

I finally managed to beat that freaking missile! Since I'm now working on some older levels to unlock some stuff, I got a question:

What do those "?????" on the bottom mean?

Edit:
Apparently doing some stuff unlocks things like G++ (all gold), T++ (make all mines appear), G-- (no gold), T-- (no mines appear) in those question marks

Edit 2:
I guess this is related to the secret levels, but not sure how everything ties together

Edit 3:
Okay, so I seem to have figured it out - Each ?????? is a "task" and you can find which "task" each one is by completing a "sub-task", like not getting gold. This will unlock the requirements behind each ??????.
Then, to complete that "task" you have to complete ALL "sub-tasks" in a single play of that level. That will highlight the [] bit in gold. For example you have a level with [!!] ?????? which you turn into a [!!] G--T++. You then have to complete that level without grabbing gold while simultaneously activating all hidden mines to get gold in that "task".

Edit 4:
Oh and it seems that to unlock the "task" list you need to first get gold in that level.

Shawn and mare: I've noticed some framerate hitching as of late upon respawn. Seems to occur only when the game is switching over to the next song for me. Doesn't really influence the gameplay though since it only happens after death, for what it's worth.

I'm usually only half-joking about the levels, but this one is just frustrating and not really much fun :( I'll be back to it later
Solo N++ X-19, Level 04 (final expert level in order)
Without having unlocked it myself yet, my heart aches already.

There's something very enticing about the presentation and motif of this game as a package. I am on the fence about whether or not to buy, but can barely hold on for much longer.

I really shouldn't buy, but I also feel like I owe it to the team for what must have been slaving away at for ages.

My main hesitation is that I can foresee this becoming a free PS+ game of the month in the near future. Does anyone really know if the devs are adequately compensated for such deals? Surely they get more of my buck if I purchase now, right?

As far as Mare has said in this thread and on the PS Blog, this game is unlikely to go on sale and such for a long time, if at all.

They are also working on an update that will drastically expand the current content. Once that is out the base price will be going up. (It definitely has more than enough content to justify the price)

As lovely as it is that you'd be willing to buy N++ just to support Metanet and their baby, is it a game you are definitely interested in?

The devs have said this will never be on PS+. Due to the cost-per-user of their servers it's just not viable to give the game away for free.

Thanks for the info, folks.

I remember playing N when it was a flash game and enjoying it. I never played N+ so I feel like there isn't any better version of this game than this right now.

I'm not yet sure how I'd handle some of the insane difficulty but I do play a hell of a lot of the Trials games and they can get brutal as well.

I also have completionist tendencies and am a bit worried that this game would drive me insane! But then again, maybe it will help me overcome that and learn to deal with not being able to accomplish absolutely everything. I think I may take the plunge. If so, I'll report back and let you know my impressions.

The easy way to play is just finishing each level. All gold is a whole different kind of hard, and then there are apparently some secret challenges on top of all that for the sadists like me. =P

Just remember that ONE of the levels in the bottom left corner of the Solo N++ Episodes currently needs to be fixed to get all gold. (There's a piece of gold blocked by a mine and the exit with a gap that's too close together to jump between)

whether i go for all gold on a stage is a case by case basis
sometimes the levels are boring on their own, and the fun is getting the gold
other times getting all the gold is fucking HAAAAAAARD(or tedious) and those stages tended to be more fun to just "beat" normally

I swear this level is impossible. Solo Intro Episode D-01, Level 4 "multimodal".

This robot follows me along the bottom and then waits as I flip a switcg.. the only way back around to the door is through him. Maybe I'll get a pic brb.

I suck and I've completed (not all gold) all of the intro levels, so it's definitely not impossible!

You have to "set up" those guys sometimes so that you can make it past them on your way back, so take your time.

I'm hoping people don't have a reason other than difficulty to turn them off this game.

This is of course for those who enjoy the genre but don't like the aesthetic or somesuch. (There has already been the price discussion)

I know this board doesn't account for every PS4 owner, but I honestly thought this thread would be more active.

It's tough for people to get the appeal of this game from watching trailers, I think. Some definitely balk when they see the price if the visual aesthetic doesn't resonate with them, for instance. Once you get hands on with it though, it can very quickly sink its hooks into you.

I think a demo with 3 sets of 5 stages could really convert people. If the last 5 were of medium difficulty, the triumphant feeling some people would get from finally beating them might make them have their "A-ha!" moment.

That said, it's a lot of work to even make a demo, so I don't know if metanet will do it or have the desire to do so.

I stand by the price of this game and their intentions not to go free though. A few indies here in Toronto are echoing their choice because discounting your game to $1 (or the multitude of other grab bags, sales, and deals you could participate in) start to set a precedent in devaluing hard work.

thanks soultron I did it! now I'm stuck on circular momentum. Is the co op in this game as good as the first one? Might have to buy a second controller. .

A demo would go a long way. I know that people wouldn't look up the original to check. (Understandable)

I stick by the price too. If anything I would have happily paid more. Heavy discounts so that you sell a lot of copies for £€¥$1 is something I don't see as being sustainable for Indies. And $1M is a lot less than the $10M you may have made if you priced it more considerately.

Absolutely yes to Coop. Me and my brother have had an absolute blast and there's created coop levels yet!

Especially fun are the "YOU CAN'T EVEN MAKE A FEW SIMPLE JUMPS AND I HAVE TO DODGE LASERS AND ROCKETS IN A TIGHT HALLWAY THE ENTIRE TIME YOU'RE FUCKING UP" situations that it can put you both into. =D

Okay been having some trouble with a few All Golds.

This one is keeping track of 8 things at once:

And this one is the devil so I'm still working on it. It's the only one I've got left to do on row B:

Same, this game is incredible and deserves more love. I've got like 8 solo episodes left to do (before expert levels) and if I can do 1 a day I'll be happy. This shit is so tough at times though.

Any word on the patch?

I really hope the game is selling well, it's hard to judge from outside but there doesn't seem to be as much talk across the internet as I'd like. I have my fingers crossed for a Steam version (DRM-free, please devs?) just for the sake of future-proofing it beyond the life of the PS4. I know that's way ahead of us but there are some games you just never want to lose.

I'm also waiting for the corruption fix before diving into the level editor. That seems to be what set the bug off for a bunch of people so I'm too paranoid to even try just yet.

Reviews, on the whole, have been positive, but it's still not hard to find criticisms like how it looks "dated" or might appear too simplistic for some people. Some people have slammed the metacritic user ratings with 0s because it doesn't have the online MP from older titles as well. (That's not really fair, IMO.)

The other thing is that it's been a busy month for smaller games, and stuff like Rocket League and DOTA2 TI kind of dominated social media channels and news coverage the last week or so. I almost feel like being part of the PLAY promo did them favours, but it also sandwiched them between several other high profile indie launches on PS4.

N++, IMO, is a game that unless you play it or know of its reputation from past entries, you might not give it a chance. That's a really tough thing to deal with. I really hope it's been selling decently. The free content update is still coming that's supposed to effectively double the amount of content, so that's (hopefully) going to provide more news coverage for them whenever it drops. Hopefully bigger outlets like Polygon will review it then, since they didn't when it first came out.

On that point, I feel like not getting release day reviews from key outlets like Polygon, Game Trailers, IGN NA, and Kotaku denied Metanet key coverage and exposure in the mainstream. (To be fair to them, they did do some pre-release coverage, but I'm of the mind that post-launch coverage is more important since a potential customer can action on their desires and make a purchase and play right away -- instead of waiting until release and potentially forgetting or spending their allotment for that month/year on other games or entertainment while they wait.) I'm speculating that a game like N++ might be hard to pitch reviews for since some EICs might feel the entire game needs to be completed (All 2200+ levels? Hah!) before a review can be published -- but there's no way that was the case for smaller blogs that did review N++. I've actually gone so far as asking Arthur Gies on twitter if a review was planned from Polygon, but I haven't received a response.

Didn't realise this hadn't been picked up by that many reviewers. Especially GT and Kotaku! =(

Hopefully they can get this save bug patched and then work out at least a PC release. (Though people will still bitch about online MP)

On a lighter N++ discussion: What is your favourite music track?

Mine is 'Twunggg! (I Guess We'll Wait)' by dabp It's super relaxing, especially for those tougher levels.

So I dipped and bought it yesterday and could not be more satisfied. I'm on the D set of Intro levels and am up this morning with a big cup of coffee getting primed to chew through some more levels.

The music is worth the price alone (I am a huge fan of this genre)...it makes the will to stop playing that much harder. The "just one more try / level" ad infinitum is strong with this one.

This is a somewhat weird comparison but the overall experience and feel of this game reminds me a lot of OllieOllie 2 (both musically and level grind-like).

Question: There was an early intro level (maybe in the B or C set, I'll look up the specific if needed) that was very short but had two pieces of gold that I cannot figure out how to pick up. The gold pieces were hiding on a switch so that the instant you pick it up, it activates a cage around you. The level hint was "Triangle to Respawn" or something like that. The hell are you supposed to get those? Can you fly through and get out before the cage closes? Is there a hidden switch somewhere to break that trigger?

The gold is a tiny bit bigger than the switch. So when you just touch the edge of the gold you can collect it, but don't activate the switch.

This one was driving me up the wall a bit (the good kind) a while back, with someone from Metanet dropping by for a dose of schadenfreude as I was torturing myself on-stream. One of N++'s coolest levels IMO.

I did have an easier time starting on the right side than I did on the left though, with regards to gold collecting. Still didn't attain all the pieces but I got closer to success that way.

Forgot to mention I'd already completed that one. (The last level of the night)

Going to the right is the way to go, but you need to be perfectly timed due to everything coming to kill you at once.

Actually wanna check where I am on the single level leader board for this level I was being perfectionist on it.

Need some more N++ All-Golders on my friends list for leader board purposes. I prefer single level time-trialing for sure. =P

Added. Sucks I'm away all next week. Still only through Solo B for now due to fuck tonnes of actual work since release. =P

Wish there was some indicator for All Gold runs on replays.
Yeah that would be nice, although sometimes getting all gold won't be the fastest

C-19-04 is making me sad :(

Super glad I got this. It will become part of a daily snack for me for a long time to come. Only thing that sort of annoys me are levels with just a fuckton of gold densely packed into smaller stages with wide open air that feel like nothing more than a time sink to pick up. I usually opt out of collecting gold on those stages and favor pushing forward.

I can already see the clone machine things becoming absolutely hellish later on...

I really wish this game saved progress on episodes, because it's frustrating as hell trying to complete some later episodes in single sittings.

My idea would be to save your times on each level until the episode is complete. So you still have to deal with the overall time issue when you return to say, level 3. It'd also be neat if you could then go back to completed levels and improve your time to help out on your continuing quest to beat the episode. When you run into an episode that is both difficult period and also tight on time, it's really punishing to have to keep tackling the episode as a whole.

Still can't conquer E-19 simply because I'm running out of time. Up to 35.7261% and a 2155 score.

I think the cool thing about that is it would allow more episodes to be kind of tight on time. I'm up to X-08, and E-19 is the only one that seemed like it could be problematic, which kind of makes the time bar feel like a wasted feature

Edit: Well not wasted since its your score which is a huge part of the game. But the pressure to finish before you run out of time isn't there very often

I think I reached my ceiling. I just can't beat 2 of the D-levels and 4 of the E-levels. Dying hundreds of times is not that fun anymore. Oh well, I had a blast with what I played. Might revisit it in the future if I can gather the courage.

I'm still enjoying this game way more than I thought I would. I also think the people that made it are evil, sick, sadistic psychopaths. I don't know why I feel the need to go for all gold so often.

I've been doing my best to avoid looking around for spoilers as to how to find these secret exits I hear about, but then I get to a level like the one in this screenshot, and I just burn with curiosity. Why is that pit there? It doesn't open unless you hit the switch in the lower-right that also opens the door. There has to be some sort of secret in this level, right?
