ReCore PC Version Mentioned by Armature Studio Employee's Portfolio

Unity? Hmmmm...

Unity is a solid engine. It's just accessible so lots of bad people use it too. Lots of shitty people use Javascript too, doesn't mean most websites

That's been the case with a few titles hasn't it? MS isn't entirely clear on the whole messaging game.

Sea of Thieves IIRC also was revealed as "Exclusively on Xbox" but it's a PC/X1 title. I don't think that means much anymore.

They said it about Tomb Raider at Gamescom AFTER the PS4 version and PC had been revealed. Their words mean nothing

Did they mention any platform when showing the trailer?

But it´s always a hard decision. They need to support PC but also want people to buy an Xbox One :)

dofry

That's "Dr." dofry to you.
The term 'exclusive' has been so dilluted that no one knows for sure what the hell it even means anymore. Obfuscated beyond belief.
I am not saying Microsoft is only guilty of this. Sony and others do the same thing with different words.
It is annoying and insincere.

Just speak the truth dammit. I appreciate that and it makes me value your brand more. But, maybe the effect of hiding the truth is reflected in the sales enough so that it's ok to use, so who knows?

Edit: and for me ReCore is a xbone exclusive until mentioned otherwise. Ooor, do they mean the "xbox platform". Confusius.

Wouldn't say lots of bad people using it is the issue. Even talented devs like Obsidian, Red Thread Games, Inxile, etc struggle on the engine. If a game is halfway ambitious it tends to have performance issues.

I don't know how involved Inafune really is with this game, but I wonder if this has anything to do with Mighty No. 9 being delayed.

I expect the PC confirmation to be offered only at the end of a 1 million dollar kickstarter campaign about starting the recore multimedia franchise

I can only echo the sentiment that Unity engine games feel like they are put together with tape, have bizarre performance on hardware that should crush them, and generally lack basic PC features (fullscreen support...).

We don't have much Fallout 4 gameplay either. Nor did we have any Forza Horizon 2 gameplay until 3 months before release. That argument is bad.

Those are sequels though. You basically know what you're getting.

Armature keeps being heralded as "The Makers of Metroid Prime" but really, they haven't put out anything under their new studio of note except for remasters. So yeah, people want to see gameplay.

If you saw gameplay now as opposed to 3 months before release would the money leave your bank account any differently? Only thing it really effects are preorders, and why the need to preorder a game anything more than 2 weeks out? I really truly don't understand why anyone NEEDS to see any gameplay at this time opposed to closer to release.

Sup guys, I work in the game industry.

Frequently, we have internal PC builds of games that we use to facilitate fast turnaround time on testing out changes during development. Just because we primarily work day-to-day on a PC build doesn't mean that we ever plan on shipping one.

So that's my theory as to why this person's resume says "Xbox One, PC" instead of just "Xbox One;" he very likely has (technically) worked extensively on the game on both platforms, so it's totally valid to list them on his resume, even if the release is ultimately only for one.

I just want to see what this is, what it looks like, how it plays. Amrature is not a big studio and their last game they made was Batman Blackgate and a lot of ports and have more ports in the pipeline. So I question the spring release date, because they are wearing too many hats it would seem to deliver all those ports and this game for X1 with as small of a studio they have. I get the feeling some people think this is going to be a AAA title and I just don't see how, at least not by spring 2016.

And before anyone says Comcept is also developing this. Comcept has next to nothing to do with developing this outside of essentially creating a concept and story board and giving direction. They are a concept studio only.

Don't crush the hopes and dreams of many gamers who are suddenly very interested in this game.

In the blog it does say AAA

People like to follow the development process. If something looks promising 6+ months out from release, people like to interact with developers or others who are interested in the game.

It's like...do we really need movie trailers a year in advance? Couldn't they just put trailers up 2 weeks before a movie is out?

Sure, they could, but that isn't how hype and marketing work.

You don't claim to be working on a game for 'Xbox one and Windows 10' if this is the case.

it was revealed for xbox and windows 10, not exclusively on xbox

I think it'll be delayed as well, dev time seems too short to hit that 2016 target but hey if it does make it then cool.

As for the PC thing, it doesn't really matter to me since I only game on comsoles but I thought it was XBO only given the way it's been announced.

If that's the case it will be very interesting to see the gameplay reveal for this. I am sure they have some talent there, but they have a lot going on and are a small team as well.

According to an earlier blogpost they have only been working on this for about a year.

That would be neat, since it's literally the only Xbox One exclusive we know about right now which intrigues me. However, just because someone worked on it doesn't mean it will be released.

Unity is a solid engine.
Not really, no. I haven't looked at Unity 5 in detail, but Unity 4 is really quite simply crap in some respects. The intermittent stutter issues and frame pacing troubles with pretty much every single game on the engine aren't due to everyone using it being stupid ;)

People will never be happy. Port begging to the next level xD
Indeed.

"MS where are your games on PC?
MS: "Okay here are a few of our games on PC. Enjoy!"
"What, this is bullshit! Why is there no Steam version. Fuck off MS."

It's quite sad actually to see people that desperate for a Steam version. Steam fanboys I guess?

I still have hope for ReCore, but I admit I'm now concerned for Keiji Inafune's involvement like I was with Dennis Dyack with Shadow of the Eternals...

Regardless, hope a PC version is in the works.

This isn't a Kickstarter though, Microsoft are backing it and own the IP, Armature are developing it plus the people at MS, its a 3 way thing.

I don't think this has much in the way of similarities to a crowd funded project, no-one is paying up front (well, except Microsoft)

Less reason to buy an Xbox One. While this is great for consumers, it pretty much defeats the purpose of getting an Xbox One for maybe one or two exclusives when most of them are on PC.

Best wishes.

Personally, I'd be "desperate" for any version not tied to any Microsoft "community" on PC: Steam, GoG, hell, I'd even rather take Origin or Uplay.

Look at their track record.

Some people prefer consoles' convenience and easyness to setup, on top of being low cost.
That matters, so I don't see why X or Y exclusive being available on PC would negate the console versions.

Strange that this argument comes up all the time while it makes little sense, at least to me.

Oh, I understand that, but from a designer perspective, I haven't exactly been impressed with Keiji Inafune's work since leaving Capcom, and Mighty No. 9 isn't quite the grand return to form I was hoping for.

And Armature studios as well doesn't have a very solid track record after leaving Nintendo (a fate that seems to befall a lot of talent that leaves Nintendo, like RARE and Silicon Knights...). I'm hoping their last few trip-ups were flukes.

I'm still looking forward to it, for sure, but I would have been more blindly eager for it just a couple of years ago. Things have been a tad rocky since then.

I think it's more likely that the guy mentioned that because they've technically been doing PC and Xbox One development simultaneously than he, a senior employee, decided to leak the announcement of a AAA game's release just for the sake of padding his resume.

People get fired for much less than that.

It's an argument largely only applicable to online forums like GAF where everyone has a gaming PC. I doubt a title being XB1/PC matters much to the general gaming public.
