I think they are still going in and adding hand made touches. Really it makes sense, it was weird that they didn't use it for TLOU and instead recorded the actors' faces and animated the faces by hand based on the recordings.Huh, didn't realize they were using facial mocap this time around. Wonder if it's just to help drive down costs
I don't believe this, if ND is not making any more Uncharted games after this Sony will build a new studio to carry on. I'm fairly confident we will see Nate and crew in future games.
I believe you guys are overthinking the delay. I think they just needed more time and were ready to release the game early next year.
The game will sell regardless, so I'm sure there was no strategic plan to move it.

How about talking about the topic at hand. Is it that hard without mentioning other games.
ND is not using the same tech as that animated gif. It's way too heavy for gaming consoles to simulate micro detail/skin stretching in realtime.

Calm down dude. It's fine. Every thread is going to have some kind of tangent, we're not robots.

Damn, im gonna miss this series. It's gonna be tough watching it go.
Really hope we have a lot of in. Sully in UC4. Wasn't enough of him in UC1 or UC2.
I'm more worried about Elena, Emily Rose was filming Haven for a while until just recently, so I hope she had the time to be in the game more.
They finished filming Haven months ago Syfy just held back 5B.

So I wouldn't worry about that, it depends on if she's been on how much she's been written in the game.
Agree. However, ND is so good with characters that they easily make you forget whoever's not on screen any given time.
About the series ending, it's indeed tough for us who love the series dearly, but it's kinda bittersweet for me because, while Uncharted is one of my fav franchises ever, I want to see ND expand with new IPs and ideas.
"Months ago" isn't reassuring considering the game has been in development for a long time. VA work & motion capture started in early 2014.
Is Nathan Drake is Uncharted? Because they have said this is his last adventure. That leaves the possibility for a new protagonist.
I just meant Uncharted with the same gang and developed by ND. I'm open for whatever the franchise may bring if they keep it alive with a new set of characters and a capable developer though.
Considering threw away a bunch of the previous work months would be more than enough time.
indeed. she is quite beautiful.Soon.
Even covered in green dots, Emily Rose looks fab.
...Was rushed and was the last one they've released in Oct-Nov. TLoU took its time. UC4 is taking it as well. What's so hard to understand here? All Uncharted games released in the holidays, Uncharted 3 managed to sell 5 million in November alone, & up to 9 million within the 4 months that followed. It also sold an additional million or two since then based on the 21 million units announcement a while back.
Well, not really, they obviously delayed it to get more time to finish the game. But even if it was ready for Oct-Nov I think that they would pushed it back or tried to finish it in Q3 if possible. That's what they're doing since 2011.So you think UC4 was delayed to avoid competition? Considering how well UC3 sold as a holiday release I see no reason for them to be worried about it possibly getting overlooked.

And every PS4 game from Naughty Dog came out *not* during the end of the year holidays. haha.
Kind of taking the piss, but we're tracking towards that early 2016 date, i wouldn't count on it being anything other than that.
There was no Uncharted game after it, of course it was the last Uncharted to release in Q4. & you ignored the part where Uncharted 3 sold ridiculously well, doubling Uncharted 2's sales despite the holiday release, which is the most important part for Sony.
Why would Sony avoid the holidays when the best selling PS3 exclusive was actually released in the holidays? That makes no sense.
Why would Sony compete with 3rd parties in holiday season when these 3rd parties sell their consoles as well as their exclusives if not better? Don't you understand what I'm saying? It's better for them to use their exclusives in timeframes which don't have any big 3rd party releases - this way they're helping hardware sales during the periods when there are no CoDs/ACs/etcs. This is exactly what they're doing for the last four years and I think that this is a right strategy. This also mean that there won't be any "delayed to holiday season" bullshit for any SCE game.
Naughty Dog has never said that this is their last Uncharted game either. Starting fresh with a new protagonist might be what is needed to keep them motivated to continue making Uncharted games.
They could tell his brother story somewhat in 1-2 games leading to Uncharted 4. If Sony gives Uncharted to another studio it's probably going to be SSM. Guerrilla is too busy and Quantic Dream is not really a fit I say. Sony has literally no one else to carry the IP. Sucker Punch? Nope...they play an strategic role in WWS lineup of games and generally do their own unique thing. San Diego is MLB and small projects collabs. Bend, too small.
Hopefully that's what'll happen. I've seen Neil insinuate that this will be their last Uncharted, but I may be mistaken.
Another team that might've been capable to do so, in our minds, was RAD, but...

Why would Sony get rid of one of their most successful franchises. Each uncharted game is guaranteed to sell a couple of million

He never did that, he always referred to it as "Drake's last adventure".
I'm a little disappointed that I never got an Uncharted set in China(or other Asian regions.) I always wanted to see Drake scale The Great Wall, or search for the Tomb of Genghis Khan.
It's "cancelled", but tbh, the plot wasn't going anywhere. They should've ended it when they went into the barn. At least we'll get 13 more episodes that will wrap it up nicely (as promised).Emily Rose is adorable, I hope she has a "bigger" in Uncharted 4, and a new TV Show, because frikin Syfy cancelled Haven
Yeah, pretty much why I'm never buying Uncharted 4. I would have been there day 1 had it come out at the end of the year, but it coming out Feb-Apr? No way. Never touching that game. And that goes to any game that doesn't release in the last 3 months. They've all lost their business, at least from me!Because what's the point of releasing your best game in the dry season and then having nothing for the holidays when most people are ready to buy things.
Ehh, I don't think so for Uncharted 3. It's at high 6s and likely 7 million now. TLOU should be at 9 million by now I'd wager. It's the best selling game since Crash, which is impressive for a new IP.gdt said:Uncharted 3 is sitting at 10/11 million copies and TLOU I think at 8 or 9?

Wow did not know that... My guess is 1 million, 5 million for the first, 7 for the second and 8 for the third. I'm really surprised it sold that much. -_-It has to be more than that if the series is at 21 million now not including Golden Abyss. It sold more than Uncharted 3 and I think the first Uncharted topped out around 4 million.
Yeah, I stand corrected. I do believe, however, that ND won't develop another Uncharted any time soon. Maybe next gen, if ever. The series will continue of course.
Or... maybe Sony and ND can find a happy medium attractive enough for them to be happy to develop another Uncharted this gen. Who knows.
I just pictured Drake climbing the wall throwing cracks. China would've been great indeed.

How do you know this? They're already doing pretty advanced skin deformation if you have seen the tech videos on youtube. I don't see why this particular implementation would be that much more taxing to do.

You know, Sully, this really is the last for us.
Isn't it late to still be doing Mocap for a spring release?
I could be wrong but I'm positive they said they finished mocap months ago?
