Nintendo: line-up for the rest of 2015 (Star Fox, Fatal Frame 5, more)

The Wii U line-up would actually be really nice if Zelda made it in as planned. It's still not bad but it's missing that big AAA game that they typically have every year.

Yeah, boxart for Starfox Zero looks great. Game looks piss poor though. I was still somewhat hopeful for it after that middling e3 but seeing Kinda Funny play it during their week of Nintendo... yeah no buy.

It hurts to even watch
I am definitely going to wait for reviews to drop. Not nearly enough enemies on screen.
Honestly it wouldn't be the first time a game franchise I loved has a bad game *coughStickerStarcough*

Not sure if this has been asked already, but can anyone explain why the Falco amiibo is coming out after Mewtwo? That just seems so weird to me.

More on topic, is it just me or does the 3DS lineup seem really bare compared to the WiiU one? Not a single game for December there.

It's progress. A couple of years ago we would have had to start some social media campaign to get them to acknowledge it.

Yeah, at least you can play the game in the US^^ Could've been worse. I don't really like the idea of an limited release only because it forced me to preorder. But with Nintendo titles and limited copies ... at least you know that you can sell the game for 100€ on eBay a year later^^ I will drop by the OT and post nice pics of the Limited Edition for you american Nintendo fans so you'll get to see it.

Ugh, that was the worst. Hoping that Mario and Paper Mario RPG thing is good... but I don't have any trust in Nintendo anymore. Sometimes they surprise me like with Splatoon so I'm open to them it's just... so many turds.

It's because Falco's Amiibo is launching alongside Star Fox Zero.

"A new combo pack that includes two great games goes on sale Oct. 16. The pack includes both New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U, and will be available at a suggested retail price of $59.99."

That's just awful lol, what a shame.

I remember when we were told that the stand along retail version of super Luigi u was going to be for a limited time.

Ready for super Mario maker and yoshi!

They better do a big blow out for Star Fox Zero to justify that $60 price tag. Cause at the moment I'm not feeling that's going to be justified at all. We already know there is no multiplayer of any kind, just perhaps some limited co-op stuff. That's were we stand now until they say other wise. Graphically the game doesn't look that great compared to other Wii U games and combat seems slower (less) then past games from what they've shown. They're going have to justify that price point.

Reminds me of NES Remix which they tried to sell for $40.

How much effort could it be to port Super Mario Sunshine and make it HD? Give me a bone...
At least Mario Maker and Yoshi should be good. Xenoblade, Animal Crossing, Mario Tennis, and Star Fox I am "meh" on.

lolwut?
  • Splatoon (as you mentioned)
  • Smash 4
  • Mario Kart 8
  • The Wonderful 101
  • Bayonetta 2
  • Tropical Freeze
  • Pikmin 3
  • Super Mario 3D World
  • Super Mario 3D Land
  • Xenoblade X
  • Fire Emblem Fates
  • Fire Emblem Awakening
  • Kid Icarus Uprising
  • Hyrule Warriors
  • Captain Toad
  • Yoshi's Woolly World
  • A Link Between Worlds
And those are just off the top of my head. The rest of you can help fill in the gaps if you wish.

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
BTW, am I correct that there are currently 3 announced WiiU games (first party) for 2016?
- SMTxFE (Unknown)
- Zelda Wii U (Q4 2016?)
- Pokken (Q2 2016?)

I would assume they'd at least have something else up their sleaves as that would be one of the most barren release schedules of an active console ever.

Wii are in the GameCube 2005 stage of the Wii U's life. Nintendo will release what's in the pipeline and that's it, the majority of their development resources are being focused on their next platform.

That New Super Mario Bros U pack is largely for those just picking up the system. It's smart really to combine them. It's just a shame it took them so long to do it.

Also there is no way Devil's Third is moving any units. At $30 they might be able to move some just with some people being curious as to how bad it might really be. A full $60 though? No way unless someone really isn't in the know or really wants to try it for themselves.

Didn't expect them to go this route with Fatal Frame. eShop only sure but not the "free to start" direction. Nice of them to do that. Planned on getting it anyway though.

Glad Fatal Frame is "free to start". Without being able to demo it, there was probably no way I'd consider buying it. At least now it's possible.

Devil's Third retail for full $60? Gonna bomb so hard.
The question is will it do worse than a Platinum Games Wii U game?
I mean at least they can get the dumb kid market

Yeah, I expect the NX reveal to be more hype than Wii U/3DS release for the next year.
Hope for a Pokken Tournament port.

A lot, probably. That game needs a decent amount of work done to it if they want to modernize it on the level of Wind Waker HD.

I'm guessing they're either waiting for Super Mario Maker to release or there is/was supposed to be a Nintendo Direct this month. Either way, it's too early to criticize the price of a game that people barely know about. I understand the worry though.
I believe in this age of almost only AAA games some won't regard certain "simplier" genres to be worthy of a retail release.
Captain Toad had a similar reception by some just because it was a "simple" action puzzle game (it was even budget priced), no matter how exquisite the overall package was.

I'm still surprised Nintendo is releasing Fatal Frame/Project Zero V in the west.

The Wii version of 2 didn't do that much and the series is pretty niche in Japan as well. Wasn't the fourth installment the second best selling in franchise with under 100k copies? Guess Nintendo of America thinks it's not worth a physical release. Guess NoE is a bit crazy. (Good for us Euro folks though)

Wait, is New Style Boutique 2 the same game as Girls Mode 3: Kirakira ☆ Code/Style Savvy 3 that recently released in Japan? I didn't think we knew it was coming overseas.

Neo, we are friends, so you should know my "controversial" opinions on those games. I'm going to stick to Wii U only since thats more of what my post is about.

Smash 4, Xenoblade (maybe? hopefully?), Splatoon, Hyrule Warriors, and Lego City are the only games I consider good enough to keep on the Wii U. I've tried all the others. Did not like at all.

So I guess this means no more Nintendo Directs. All of this would have made for a really good one. Release dates and perhaps more footage of these games as we go into the fall.

Nice to finally get a release date for Devil's Third, but 3 months later is pretty stupid. I wonder if their line of thinking is "let's not release it until after our other games, so people will have other stuff to play and won't notice"

Even though it looks more interesting to me than any of the other exclusive titles listed here. Xenoblade checks a ton of boxes for me but I'm still really skeptical on the combat/grinding. Won't know if it hooks me until I get to play it.

Ofcourse, but 3 games for a whole year seems... not much.
I actually expect another port or spinoff to fill the gap, something they can scrap together in < 1 year development.

I don;t think you should take that as a sign of no more NDs. While there may not be any more I think you should wait until January/February before making that call.

Same man, didn't like Xenoblade at all but I got Xeno X on preorder for $30 so I'm giving it another shot. Please don't burn me again Monolith!

Perhaps, but I feel they should still consider doing it to throw us 3D Mario fans (who prefer the more pre-Galaxy style exploration based games) a bone. Same with Wii Sports Resort Club/HD edition - a game many people loved and would like to see an updated version of. A few of those type of releases could help round out the Wii U's 2016 release schedule as well.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

I can't believe there won't be Directs anymore in the future. Not only they were great, but they had success, and their success was growing in the past months (in terms of viewers/media attention). At this point, I suppose they'll wait for the new Nintendo's CEO to be officially elected for them to begin again. Or it's just too soon after Iwata's passing and they'll have one in the future wheter there's a new CEO or not. Anyway, Nintendo Direct's future should be one of the questions asked during the next major investor meeting, in October. I hope someone will ask it in the Q&A session, we need to have some information about what's going to happen with them.

Yeah, pretty much what I was getting at. It would not be that hard to re-port a game to fill in the library. Nintendo's plan now is to release more Amiibos than games now.

I dont get the Animal Crossing Party situation....

Is the game free? Does it NEED the two amiibos to work? What happens to those that get the eshop version?
That is why I was confused as well. I remember them saying Home Maker was going to be free, but it is full price in Japan as well. Seems now you can play the game without Amiibos, but Amiibos allow you to take some randomness out of whom you are designing houses for. Pretty much they made a whole game out of the part of Animal Crossing where you design your house.

So they can release physical versions of New Super Mario Bros. Wii U GotY Edition and Devil's Third, but they can't put Fatal Frame 5 on store shelves. Nintendo, you bastards.

Very disappointed Fatal Frame 5 is a retail only release. However i am also glad the US is getting the game at all. I will try to get my hands on the European LE just to have it.

And didnt NOA say something about the US would get something special as well with regards to FF5? Or would that be quietly swept under the rug?

That NSMBU pack is way too expensive given how old the game is. I.like the idea but god damn yo.

It might be an oldish game but the content justifies the price I believe and the original games themselves haven't gone down much in price. Combining them together is still likely cheaper then buying them separately.
