Kingdom Hearts 2.9 (PS3/PS4), KH3 multiplayer/Pixar spotted on Square Enix Linkedln

Not saying the port made it bad. I just thought the game was not good and that i wasted a lot of money. The fact that episode duscae ran like ass did not help either (Still really like it though). I am just of the opinion that type-0 was the WRONG game for them to judge the xbox market off of. Kh is the better choice and xbox gamers would benefit a lot more if the rumored remaster comes to that system as well. More than likely won't though

I don't know whether SE is using Type 0 as a benchmark or not. I doubt they even regret announcing the Xbox version of KH ahead of time because whatever little loss it may incur if any will probably be easily covered by the profits generated by the PS version anyway.

However, it seems like some people like you are trying to find extra reasons why Type 0 didn't perform well on Xbox - it's $60, it's a psp port, it's a bad game. If any of those were true, it should have performed poorly on PS as well, unless you hold some sort of warped view that PS owners are suckers and that Xbox owners consist of more "discerning" customers. When really it comes down to fanbase size in the respective install base.

I wish they'd release the KH games on pc as too.
They have been branching out to that platform slowly but surely with FF, why not KH aswell?

It's already on PC ;)

It'll probably happen eventually with KH3. It's Unreal engine. It shouldn't be too difficult.

I think the previous games are too much of an IP minefield.

The thing that Kingdom Hearts 2.9 could be called II.IX, which us a reversed XIII (13) somehow increases my hopes, that this thing is something on it's own, regarding Org. XIII.

I don't understand why people are making new excuses either. For the most part it's kind of obvious why Type-0 didn't sell well on Xbox One. The JRPG audience is low on Xbox One which isn't a surprise after the Xbox and 360. FFXV would sell better though by being a mainline title as opposed to a remaster of a spin-off.

Folks thinking Square-Enix wouldn't call a KH game/collection 2.9 are being silly, just look at the other installment names and tell me that doesn't seem in line with the silly naming schemes the series titles get.
Wait, Disney AND Pixar? Toy Story world (probably) confirmed?
There's been showings of Toy Story almost happening since KH1, some design documents showed a Pizza Planet World icon, in 2 Final Mix there was unfinished models of Woody and Buzz (as summons) but it's never actually happened. If any Pixar world's a lock it's definitely Toy Story.

Plus the timing for a Toy Story world is perfect. The series is as relevant as ever and it's getting a new movie in 2017. I fully expect it to happen.

I want a Final Mix version of DDD and I hope this is it. What could they bundle it with to call it a collection though? Aside from a KH3 demo, I mean. KH3 demo should be the third part of the collection like Days and Re:Code in the previous ones. Maybe a console version of Unchained X?

And some people thought KH3 would happen before XV lol

This is great news!! I really hope we get DDDHD and a KH3 demo to hook people a la Type-0 plus Episode Duscae.

The "Secret" TGS panel is only half an hour long, so it is safe to assume a game like 2.9 would fit that slot, especially if it brings a KH3 demo with it. If TGS doesn't bring the news, D23 Japan will.

Also, don't kill me but I kinda like the title because it makes sense xD

So it's going to be like the type-o collection. Remasters with a demo to the new game.

I will definitely buy for damn sure

Hoping for a tie in like ground zeroes. I'd be up for a recap of how shit goes down. Story needs some easier way for people to remember it. Where's that giant Google doc with pictures explaining the story in a funny way

Unless they run into some huge problems with the development of KHIII that delays its completion by 1-2 years and they need to calm fans by giving them a treat, I doubt there will be anything of the sort. Dream Drop Distance & Chi already act as straight lead-ins to Kingdom Hearts III. They aren't likely going to strain their development team that is waist-deep into the development of KHIII by making them develop some Ground Zeroes level extra scenario when it's not needed and would just set back the development of KHIII. KHIII's release schedule has already been at least roughly decided, if Nomura is to be believed. They probably don't have time for anything like Ground Zeroes at this point of development.

From the makers of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, you really doubt they're capable?
The name really isn't all that illogical or dumb either, considering we already have 1.5 & 2.5. If this is something that includes DDD HD, then 2.9 is a pretty apt name for it, considering the story will pick up from where DDD left it.

They absolutely need to release it, and like I said earlier, it's still the first major KH game without a Final Mix version that can improve/refine a lot of stuff.

So yeah, ultimate collection 2016, KH 3 in 2017.

If it includes 3D in any form I'll double dip for PS4 version even though I'm almost done with 2.5 and finished 1.5 not so long ago.

If they actually port KH 1.5 & 2.5, I hope it's in a different collection than the one in which they include KH DDD HD. I love KH but I already beat 1.5 and 2.5 and have no desire to go back to those games for a while (or even a lifetime). I don't want to buy a whole collection for 1 game out of 5 (counting playable entries only).

I can't help but feel like Xbox users are being left out. I play mostly on Sony systems but it is undeniable that whoever jumps into KH3 on Xbox One without having played the Remixes is going to pull their hair off trying to fathom everything story-wise.

On the other hand, I also partly understand SE's decision.....it's actually a tough call to make.

Whose to say a lot of Xbone owners didn't own platforms that got KH in the past? And a lot of people who own a PS4 who might end up buying KHIII have probably never played a Kingdom Hearts game either, especially if the game is going to sell as well as a PS4 era high budget Kingdom Hearts game should sell. Not to even mention people are capable of searching for information by themselves, so if they are really all that interested in the lore/story of KHIII, they can just read/watch story summaries. And then there are the people (new & old to the franchise) who are interested in Kingdom Hearts purely because of its fun gameplay and/or Disney assosiation. + Nomura has implied they'll add something into KHIII that will help people who are new to the franchise or haven't played every entry to catch up to speed, somehow.

Just because PS3 had two KH Collections doesn't mean that every PS4 owner or future KHIII buyer is a master of KH lore.

2.9... who comes up with these titles?

I really do hope this is real though, and is I, II, and 3D. It would be perfect.

The difference in number would logically imply the addition of 3D to the remastered games, which Nomura has repeatedly stated was the lead in to KH3. 2.9 kinds of make sense in that weird, Japanese way because there's where we are in the story.

I was hoping for Kingdom Hearts PS4, despite what Nomura said (he's really bad for straight up lying in interviews so I never lost hope).

Praying it includes 1.5, 2.5, and DDD so that I'll have the entire series in two packages on PS4.

why would they release 1.5 and 2.5 for PS3 again? I'm pretty sure there also is a collection which includes both of them.

most likely it's just DDD.

unless it's a different collection for PS4 (with all the other remasters) and just DDD for PS3 but that sounds pretty weird/I doubt that.

Of course to include playable HD versions of 358/2 Days, Re:Coded and Dream Drop Distance. :D

2.9 doesn't make sense as a name for DDD alone. Why not just call it DDD( Final Mix) HD, then? At the very least it's DDD HD + KHIII demo. Hopefully it also includes 1.5 & 2.5.

And no, there isn't a 1.5 & 2.5 bundle. Maybe in Japan, but I don't think they ever released them both as a bundle in the west.

It would be great if 2.9 is a complete collection of every KH game leading up to 3 so that everyone has the chance to catch up completely before KH3 comes out.

People should stop referencing data that makes me feel uncomfortable because games get ported to platforms I don't like

So who's to blame here in your opinion? Square-Enix for not wanting to support a dead system (to them) when JRPGs are selling worse than a Wii U 3rd Party game on Xbox One or Xbox One owners who might have naively purchased an Xbox One to play JRPGs or expect such support to come to the system despite all signs pointing towards things not changing the 3rd time around (as in Microsoft's 3rd Console)?

You can already do that with 1.5 and 2.5 HD for PS3. Just need Dream Drop Distance. Which is what I'm hoping the 2.9 thing is.

In Europe there was a special edition that had 1.5+2.5 together on two discs (and other stuff like a Heartless plush). No idea about NA however.

This. It would be a great bundle and is gladly purchase it. It'd be nice to have everything all on one console to go through the story easier.

Oh, yeah, I forgot the super Collector's Edition, but that was extremely limited stock, not something readily available for everyone to buy.

Nomura will be in touch with you shortly.

What I think might be a good compromise if this is a real thing, if they're re-re-releasing it for PS3, is to sell 2.9 like Captcom sold followup versions of Street Fighter at retail (super/ultra/etc), while also allowing an 'upgrade' from 2.5 to 2.9 that just adds DDD and whatever other extra content they throw in via DLC over PSN.

And then the PS4 version would just be the full 2.9 version.

could be DDD + some other ''less meaningful'' content, like a demo. or it could be called just 2.9 because Nomura, because KH, because SE, because story-wise DDD is right before 3. there sure is the possibility of being called like that and just having DDD hd, plus maybe some extras.

there is a bundle, yes. one was Japan only, one was released in the west too. even if there was no complete collection in the west, would it matter that the bundle was Japan only? No, unless this 2.9 isn't coming out in Japan. which I don't see happening.

selling the same stuff one the same console + one additional game? That's pretty dumb even for SE. I'm sure there are people that will buy it regardless but that doesn't mean that it's going to be profitable.

I can't really pick lol Microsoft has a minimum requirement of printing for games hitting Xbox One, it's only natural that SE doesn't want games that are not aimed at selling big (like mainline FFs and KHs) in Xbox systems as those copies would probably gather some dust in stores.

Then, I think that whoever bought an Xbox One expecting to play a healthy number of JRPGs was probably not thinking, but blaming them doesn't feel right (maybe I should lol).

Despite all this I still think that releasing on a console the third mainline installment in a pretty convoluted franchise story-wise when NONE of the previous games are in said console is not cool but I understand that there probably is little to no profit coming from that in this case :/

Oh well, the portion of people jumping blind into KH3 on XB1 won't be too big anyway xD

TGS Hype Level suddenly in Overdrive. Yeeee.

Better not to expect anything from TGS considering they have already announced they have a stage event at D23 Japan with KH3 stuff ect. Seems like that is the safest bet for any new announcements for the franchise.
