Super Mario Maker |OT| Miyamoto Simulator 2015

Hey folks, I have a couple that I would love it if you checked out.

Shipyard Shuffle: FE4A-0000-0034-0CE0

Junior's Door: 825A-0000-002A-B114

Wall Jump Piranha Party!: C0EF-0000-0023-8940

Koopa Kavern: 2D79-0000-0024-0737

The only one I tried to make particularly hard was Wall Jump. But please, leave a comment on Miiverse or reply here, let me know what you guys think.

What's up GAF,

Yesterday I submitted for consideration my first level, "Golden Cliffs" (ID F41D-0000-001D-7020). I got tons of positive and useful feedback from you guys (I've almost hit 50 plays!) that I incorporated into the design of my second level:

Ruined Castle Romp
6684-0000-0034-1BD7

It's considerably longer and more challenging than my previous course, and it has tons of secrets and shortcuts, including 4 secret 1-up 'shrooms. I've spent the past hour tweaking it, I hope you like it!

Still so confused by the unlockables.

My game said the next delivery would be on Monday (???) yesterday. I still only have the basic pack.

What's going on? What happened to patch 1.0.1 fixing this?

Rebel Leader

THE POWER OF BUTTERSCOTCH BOTTOMS
That should be the thread title.

Super Mario Maker |OT| Welp, scrapping that idea :(

Use the new items* and fill the level with blocks

use the rocket to reset, refill the level with blocks

*New items are probably optional

Reposting my exploration/stealth level - I tried to make the kind of level I enjoy playing. Keep your eyes open for multiple paths - the most obvious isn't always the best route!

Any feedback is very welcome!

So if this game will ever get "theme" packs, I imagine it'll be Athletic, Fortress and Snow. I'm imagining it coming with the theme and four items to go with the theme.

-snip-

I would also add Desert levels. This would have sand style ground, quicksand blocks, Pokeys, tornadoes, and maybe the angry sun. Also a good candidate for fire bros.

When my friend was playing throuch courses and died a lot he got a pop-up saying something about how if he finds a course too difficult to do something with the stylus to make it easier. But I didn't get to read it all before he closed it. Does anyone know what it said as it looks like it could be a useful tip for some of the more crazy courses.

You guys might remember the reviewer that made that awesome Metroid U level. Well, the guy made a new version and it's even better. You guys should definitely try it if you want to experience a Metroid-like design. This is a real Metroid level, not a silly Amiibo showcase.

Disclaimer: I'm good friends with the guy. :p

Can't believe how little attention this has so far; I just cleared it after about two dozen attempts without watching the video or spoiling myself beforehand, and by the numbers displayed I think I was only the sixth or seventh player to finish it. It's much more refined than the original pre-release design (judging by what I saw of it on video). It does run into one problem, though, which is that it's possible to get stuck when you pick up the Spiny Hat and wind up in a location where you break the otherwise unbreakable blocks in your escape route. This isn't an issue if you find
the shortcut immediately after picking up the Spiny Hat
, but it's an unfortunate blemish on what is otherwise a magnificent stage.

By far the best creation I've played so far, and I've been picky.

Have you ever wanted to play a Mario hockey game? (Wait, you haven't??) Too bad, because Mario Hockey: Stick Not Included is about to scratch that itch you never knew you had!

F0FE-0000-0034-410E

A couple of tips:

1. Don't press anything in the first area until you reach the door
2. If you're unable to leave the hockey arena, explore the home team's goal net

I spent far more time making this than I should have, so constructive criticism would definitely be appreciated <3

I've had to scrap several ideas myself because the game doesn't even support basic things like slopes, water in non-underwater levels, or doors that lead to a sub-area.

My first course!

Hurry! The Cave Crumbles!: 8119-0000-0034-4713

Unfortunately there's somewhat of a frame (or two) perfect jump that I couldn't fix but if you nail it the results are fun.

I don't know how to post the preview pic. :(

I finally got the frame perfect jump after a dozen tries, and then mistimed that last spring jump before the finish. rip

Beat it on the next try though.

I think it's just referring to how in 100-Mario mode you can skip a course by holding Minus or flicking the stylus across the touch screen.

I sat down today with the goal of just making a "normal" level. My previous two were based around very specific ideas, and required the player to execute on something in a relatively small area. This time I just wanted some good platforming, something fun to play that's not hyper-focused. So I kinda just winged it.

...seven hours later, here we go:

I gave it a shot. Very nicely put together! I think there was one secret path I botched with the P-switch, but I like the variation in routes you can take, and you're right about it having a very "this could be in Mario World" feel to it. "Unfriendly Skies" was fun too, once I realized what I was supposed to actually be doing. :lol

Hey guys and girls,

I'm thinking of doing a video for Neo Gaf and playing through some of your levels and recording it for my Youtube Channel. If you like me to do your level than quote and reply to my message here. Been enjoying this game very much since it's release.

Well what the heck. I haven't even unlocked sub-levels yet so most of what I've done is really simple stuff, but I'm reasonably satisfied with my progress so far. As far as youtube goes, the ones that might be most interesting are my two most recent:

"Mario, it's terrible!"
261D-0000-0031-31E0
Why are we waiting around for a rescue from Mario? Time to stage a little self-made escape from familiar confines. For added challenge, try not to hurry ahead too far...you can wind up with quite a low-speed chase!

Navigating the cargo fleet
76A4-0000-0034-0FFC
Pretty straightforward, my early take on an airship level with an emphasis on going from low to high and back again. It's probably my most "legit" course so far, not very hard, but I think it's thematically-appropriate for the limited amount of space and trickery I have at my disposal so far.

Of course, y'all are welcome to give them a try and give me some feedback too. I'll experiment with some wonky stuff eventually but I like making levels that feel semi-official in how they play for now.

All right. Finished two stages in World 2 now. Took some graphical inspiration from other places for my water level.

Pesca 1-1
(1597-0000-0014-8573)
Pesca 1-2
(2796-0000-0016-2B01)
Pesca 1-3
(04E3-0000-001A-902D)
Pesca 1-4
(4BAB-0000-001B-70A0)

Pesca 2-1
(9D0E-0000-002D-ED62)
Pesca 2-2
(9548-0000-0034-46B8)

Time for bed now. Not sure what theme I want to go with for 2-3 yet...

Comments and Stars appreciated.

Will QA for food.
And with this I've made one course for every game. The ghost house theme for Super Mario Bros is excellent.

Just noticed that if you put two springboards next to each other and make Mario hit both at the same time, the jump timing for getting a high jump on them totally changes. Hopefully they'll patch that since it doesn't happen on note blocks for example, and has definitely cost me some lives on some levels so far for no good reason.

Note to all builders, don't put two springboards next to each other for dangerous jumps, use note blocks instead unless you don't mind some people ragequitting over faulty springboards.

Hey, guys, I'd love some feedback for my third level. I'm still overdue a classic Nintendo-y level, but I keep having themes I want to try out. I haven't tested it too much because of time, so the last stretch might be a bit wonky. The Koopa should not be moving at the end. I already have an idea to fix it if things go wrong, but I don't have time at the moment.

Please check it out and let me know what you think!

I tired making a level where the player almost never touches the ground, which seemed like a neat idea at the time, however I spent so long on the damn thing I have no idea how hard it is.

Alright GAF, I made the stage I've wanted to make since the game was announced.

Flappy Jellyfish: BB8D-0000-0033-A47E

It's the perfect length, and I could pay homage to two classic games at once. I originally tried the NES style and gave Mario the King Dedede costume and it was adorable, but unfortunately that made the level too easy because you could survive two hits :(

It's not a hard level, try it out! I might make a harder one/edit this one when I get SFX.
Here's my best!

Ok, of the traditional Super Mario levels so far, I think this is by far my favorite. It's just REALLY tightly designed. Incredible work

Hey Gaf; please try out some of my levels, if you're bored.

Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream: CB94-0000-0026-DD8C
Super Mario Brothers Level; pretty standard, harder difficulty

Fiery Hot Salsa: BD74-0000-0030-2FEA
A bit unbalanced, since the clear rate is pretty low. Super Mario Brothers U style, castle level.

Also; my younger brother wanted me to post one of his levels here.

Pumpkin Pie: 07FC-0000-0033-7B07
Super Mario Brothers 3 level with an interesting design choice.

Argh, I spent a bunch of time seeing if I could build a Sonic loop out of trampolines, using a downloaded level because I don't have Sonic unlocked yet...only to discover that downloaded levels can't be uploaded, no matter if the entire level has changed!

I'm getting to the point where I automatically skip anything with the words "Labyrinth", "Maze", or Two Paths/Which Path?" in the title. That and NSMBU themes.

I'm with you on the first stuff, but don't skip NSMBU levels. There's lots of stuff (wall kicks, mid-air twists) you can only do in NSMBU so you'll be missing out.

Fun indeed! The secret underground section was a bit too FX heavy for me. Especially the dizzy one haha. I also accidentally killed the beetle with the fire flower while doing the Spin Jump so you should consider some alternative if that happens.
Thanks for playing! And good suggestion. Cause I always tested that part while building, I was small mario, and didn't consider the Fire Flower would kill it.

I have a couple of stages uploaded. Feel free to check them out (and give them a star if you liked how they were).

Great job - my only nitpicks are that the giant beetle should fall more easily in the hole (it got stuck for me) and that you shouldn't use those metal blocks by the goal - instead, recall the level mechanic and use the treadmills (outside, I know, but it brings the whole thing to a conclusion and is prettier). Great job though!
Thanks for the thoughts! The treadmills at the end is a great idea and I'm kicking myself for not doing that in first place. Will definitely add them when I revise the level

I would love Mario Land costumes and maybe even a Mario Land 1/2 theme pack. I know that last request is a long shot but goddamn it'd be amazing to see Mario Land in HD.

Also, it'd be nice to discuss SMM in this thread and leave the endless codes for levels in another one. I'm just not taking the time to enter any of your codes when there are already plenty of good ones up.

Well of course you aren't with the name Mushroom Maze, nobody likes mazes. Wasn't bad though, you timed everything well so it's not too hard or too easy and the second giant goomba got a chuckle out of me.

I think we tried that and they told us to go fuck ourselves and post codes in here instead. Also, there aren't that many good ones up.

It's a take on multiple dimensions, which ended feeling kind of like time-travel when playtesting. Kinda Sonic CD'ish. When I thought of that name, I threw in a Chrono Trigger "cameo" as well. Was going for an intermediate challenge level.

Damn, I really wanted to put some time in studying Japanese today...but this fucking game man! This fucking game! Although I did practice a bit by seeing what Japanese levels I could read haha.

Really haven't played many levels yet---need to put some time aside for that. I played B-Bech's though, the Pac-Man level and the Bowser Tanks level and, wow, I think he probably wins Mario Maker so far---so much better than that Nirou dude.

Anyway, here are two of mine...

Mario and Yoshi's Bogus Journey
Dke9WWA.jpg

FA2E-0000-0032-7297

Not my best level...probably my weakest, but decent. A bit slow since it's partially on-rails, but it's one of those levels where you need to use Yoshi to succeed. But maybe people will think differently and like it...haven't seen many levels using Yoshi actually.

Mirror Mansion
4q3IQF1.jpg

05D7-0000-0033-AB55

This one took awhile to make, and I'm proud of it. It's kind of difficult---a bit cheap---but I hope you enjoy the level's gimmick I spent carefully tile-counting to create. As you can guess by the title, prepare for a course utilizing mirrored rooms...

Gonna spend some time getting some Mystery Mushroom costumes next because there's a few I have ideas based around---really wanna get Pit to do something Kid Icarus-y, and Kirby too.
