I was going to get Tecmo Bowl since I own the Wii version, but apparently this game doesn't get the discounted price. This is the first time I've seen a VC game released without the upgrade discount. What a ripoff.
Did you by any chance purchase the Arcade version on Wii Shop? Both NES and Arcade versions of Tecmo Bowl are on the Wii Shop, but the Arcade version doesn't count for the discount on the NES version on the Wii U since it's technically a different game.

Heads up. Q.U.B.E. seems fun so far, but no option (that I could figure out) on how to invert the y-axis controls. So I'm stuck with the standard "push stick up, look up" controls. So game is somewhat hard for me to control..

Really odd how there isn't an option to change controls. You'd think this game, which has been ported multiple times, would have added it by now... :/

wait what??? Glad I haven't bought it yet. I need invert Y-axis or nothing's gonna happen. That's a basic feature for every game with free camera controls (esp. first person). How they missed that is beyond me.

edit: yup ...it was a problem on playstation too: http://www.playstationtrophies.org/forum/q-u-b-e-director-s-cut/271336-ps3-no-y-axis-inversion.html
edit 2: apparently the PS4 version does have invert Y options but PS3 doesn't? wtf were they thinking when they had sooo much more time to put this ultra basic feature into the Wii U release...

What's really odd are the games that invert by default and don't give you the option to switch, for those of us that prefer up to be up and down to be down. I was just trying to think of which one that was that we played recently, and then I remembered it was those wacky jetpack levels in Crash 2. The inverted axis with no option to change (as far as I know) as well as the typically tricky camera angle, surely made for a significant learning curve for those levels. Fun, but very tricky and slightly maddening.

that sounds like they were just forcing flight controls on a gameplay section based on flying. still weird but at least I can see the reasoning there.

No, that's exactly it. You're right. That's what Jen and I were saying to each other about it at the time, a week or so ago. But it's not like you were doing actual flight sim-esque maneuvers so it was all the more odd. Here, a couple screenshots:

With the controls they were definitely thinking of a flight sim, but you control Crash more like he's just...floating there ... so...it was really odd to control. In any event, more options = better when it comes to those pesky Y-axes.

Dang. Isn't that Mario Famicom theme supposed to be up in the US for 3DS? Can't find it in the theme shop. ACK! :D Do themes go up later?

Wow people that prefer uninverted actually exist?

I'm cool with inverted for flight games or flight-esque games. Otherwise yep, I generally more prefer uninverted. I think it depends on the game. I don't remember what my preference is for 3D Zeldas at the moment. Trying to picture it. I think uninverted there, too, though.

it's the same for me, I don't know whether I prefer inverted or standard until I actually play a game

just pick the one which ends up feeling less weird :lol

I always forget which is inverted and which is normal; but I prefer the controls where I push up to look up and down to look down. I don't see it as controlling someone's head, I see it as controlling their viewpoint.

normal: up = up
inverted: up = down

I think I might be addicted to Picross. Bought Picross e and finished it when I was on vacation, then I bought both e2 and e3, finished the former yesterday and now I'm already halfway through e3.

Micross is kinda meh but Mega Picross is such a great addition to the series. I hear that the last 3 only add 20x15 panels as a new mechanic, which is a bit of a shame but at least Picross 3D 2 is coming.

Have you tried the Hudson games, Illust Logic and Illust Logic + Colorful Logic? They're pretty good nonogram puzzle games for DS that play pretty much exactly like the Jupiter/Nintendo Picross games. The second game, IL + Colorful Logic, adds a color picross mode that I liked very much. The puzzles themselves are inferior to the Jupiter ones mainly because they're pretty poorly drawn, specially in the first game, but they're still pretty good games if you're hungry for more. They've got a crap ton of puzzles too, I'm still not done with the first one and I've played it daily for a long time, must be like a thousand puzzles in there.

Consider moving on to them once you're done with the Picross e series, specially Illust Logic + Colorful Logic that has better puzzles and a cool color mode. It's better than going cold turkey.

Oh man, tell me about it. I am currently ploughing through e6. Mega Picross only clicked with me recently, and since then I can't get enough. Frankly I wish they'd get rid of Micro and just replace it with more Mega. The amount of content in each release appears to grow and grow though, which is nice.

I am having such a hard time with Mega Picross, I think I am missing a Mega Picross gene or something, it really won't click with me.
Did you ever play Mario's Picross? Still my favorite, I must have played through everything at least twice so far, and still love it. I think you can use stars on the EU Club Nintendo to get it, if you still have any of them lying around (they expire in two weeks anyway). They even have Mario's Super Picross (JPN SNES version) out there. o_O

I'm like Micros, but suck at Mega Picross, it just hasn't clicked fully yet. I find myself turning on the blue hints too often, though I'm only up, to e4 and can only play a few puzzles a week. Maybe they will catch on.

The only I got I would like is for the next handheld to have one Picross title and just keep releasing DLC. I have a Picross folder as a result of the current design.

New Patch Incoming, Tuesday 9/15

Nintendo just confirmed to me that the patch updating Elliot Quest to Version 1.2.6 will be released next Tuesday!

Thank you again everyone for you patience and understanding. I'm pretty excited for this update:
- Fixes the strange and random glitches relating to timers (enemies firing constant streams of projectiles, fire not extinguishing, animations changing strangely)
- Some Miiverse stamps will be unlocked based on your save data (for example, if you already beat any of the ancient bosses, the associated stamp will become available without having to beat it again)

Nope, haven't even heard of them but they look pretty alright. I will consider it, thanks!

Nope, haven't tried it yet. I think I should have enough stars to get it actually. Thanks for reminding me!

Year Walk (Simogo) - €6.99/£6.29
Grim tales, horrifying creatures and cryptic enigmas await in the dark woods of 19th century Sweden. Lose yourself in an ancient rite which bleeds from the TV screen into our world through the Wii U GamePad. Set out on a vision quest to foresee the future and use the screen in your hands to study a mysterious folklore encyclopedia, decipher hints and take notes. Solve tactile puzzles using motion controls and listen for clues through the GamePad. Unravel the mysteries which lie between fact, fiction, past and present in Year Walk.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong (Nintendo, GBA VC) - €6.99/£6.29
Mario vs. Donkey Kong pits the Nintendo mascot against his old adversary in a unique twist on the platform genre that made them famous. The mischievous ape has swiped all the Mini Mario toys from Mario’s toy factory, so it’s up to you to rescue them from across six inventive worlds. You’ll be scratching your head at puzzles in some stages before leading Mini Marios to safety in the next, each world ending with a showdown against Donkey Kong himself!

Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis (Nintendo, DS VC) - €9.99/£8.99
Take control of the Mini Marios and rescue Pauline from a jealous Donkey Kong! In the first Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Mario was trying to find all the Mini Marios, but this time it’s up to them to save the day! Use the touch screen to guide Mini Marios through multiple mind-boggling, obstacle-filled levels to rescue Pauline who was captured once again by Donkey Kong. As well as Mini Mario toys, you also have Mini Donkey Kong, Mini Toad, and Mini Peach figures at your disposal. Use them to traverse 80 perilous stages, avoiding DK’s mini-minions, and facing off against the angry ape himself!

Tecmo Bowl (Tecmo Koei Games, NES VC) - €4.99/£3.49 (never came out in PAL regions so this is the US version by default)
Take your team through the ranks of American football greatness! Based on the classic arcade game, Tecmo Bowl puts you in tense American football matches as you take control of one of 12 teams and try to take them all the way to the top! Go head-to-head with a human opponent, or against the computer in action or coaching modes. Plan your plays like a pro, and then make your mark on the field by controlling every pass, block, run, and tackle.

Pleeeeease download Fractured Soul. I say this every time it's on offer and no one responds. It's a fantastic game, and at £1.79 it's the best bargain you'll find.

For me surprised that Plague of Shadows isn't coming to EU at release. Assumed it would be simultaneous for some reason.

P.S. next Fractured Soul sale in NA I promise I'll pick it up, thanks for the rec :)

Plague of Shadows is an update, not DLC and thus not listed in the PR as software updates don't appear in there. YCG said PoS will launch globally at the same time.

Ah, I missed that. Thank you. Glad to hear that. Surprised they didn't still find a way to finagle it into the PR, though.

Uuuggghh, guess 3D Sonic 2 is next week.

Also Xseed needs to hurry & confirm the release schedule of the Senran Kagura 2 DLC. Europe is already on their 2nd out of 3 DLC, & we still don't even know when the US will get them, save for the Burst save data bonus, but even then we don't know when he'll be available for those who didn't buy Burst.

MORE SMASH DLC AT THE END OF THE MONTH WOOOO.

I'm still wondering why Sega hasn't brought the Sonic GBA games to the US Wii U VC. I know the first Sonic Advance is available in Japan, & they got it waaay back in Feb.!

&...uh.....3D Sonic 2 next week, yaaayyy?
