Posting this one more time for the new page. Can't help but feel like it's underplayed, despite the positive feedback.

I'll see about recording some sessions of Mario Maker later today.

Deep beneath the crashing waves of the Mushroom Kingdom sea, there lay a beast of indescribable height. Many knew of its existence, but none dared to search for the legendary beast. Due to drops in temperature, the beast was forced to relocate even deeper into the sea in hopes of a sustainable food source, forgotten forever.

Centuries later, Mario encounters a frozen sea while exploring the coast of Mushroom Kingdom. The temperature drops rapidly, as Mario swims towards a gargantuan ice berg within the depths. It's here, where he see's an entrance to what looks like a cave, leading directly into the mass of ice. The beast is just a legend, but even still, he should be long gone by now, right?

Personally I like normal levels. Nothing too crazy, good flow, few secrets, nothing really lengthy.

Finished your level. Beginning was the hardest, took me two tries. You may want to focus on either tight swimming or swimming with enemies :p

Ta for the feedback. :) at the time it was basically trying the new stuff I was unlocking so it was a mishmash really. :p

Here's the levels I've put together over the week

http://www.mariomakerhub.com/levels/2104/single-screen-p-block-challenge

http://www.mariomakerhub.com/levels/2109/infiltrate-the-goomba-factory

http://www.mariomakerhub.com/levels/2107/you-must-break-the-blocks

http://www.mariomakerhub.com/levels/2106/mario-under-the-bridge

I'm not a fan of incredibly long levels because of the lack of checkpoints. I've tried to make my levels as compact and tight as possible with what I feel is appropriate difficulty for their length.

How do you report levels?

I played a stage yesterday called "Motherland" and it was just a giant swastika that you ran under and that was the entire level.

Caught me off guard, I hadn't really seen an inappropriate level in Mario Maker.

Depending on how this one goes down, I might build more Panic Room stages. Let me know what you guys think.

Might have been said somewhere already, but the editor should really have a confirm dialog when exiting. I spent an hour making a level (editing one I had started yesterday), was going to save but clicked the coursebot button instead. An hour of my precious level-editing time wasted. My own fault yes, but an annoying oversight nonetheless.

Go to create a course and it should still be there.

I'm pretty sure that doesn't erase it though? You can go back into course maker and it will still be there unless you loaded another course into the editor.

Is there any way to get more people to play your levels? I've made a handful and each only have a few plays. I've posted here as well as other social networks. It's not much fun when nobody wants to try out the levels you worked so hard on...

Ah ok, the confirm window comes when selecting another course. I exited to Course World and shut down the game so gone are the edits. Oh well, thanks for the info, I'll know this in the future :)

Play other levels and leave comments. That's what gave me the best results. I was at like 6 stars yesterday morning, then spent a good while playing and commenting/providing feedback for as many levels from here as I could and I got to 25 stars in less than a day :)

Basically, give and you shall receive.

just came back from looking for a 3.5mm extension for my mic but didnt find any :(

I will go to other places tomorrow and check but for now it will be hard for me to use the mic as the wire it comes with is extremely short and will be very inconvenient for me to use while i stream :(

anyways i am about to go out again in a bit and will be back in roughly 3.5 hours from the time of this post. I already got a couple of submissions via PM while i was gone and will do those when i stream in a few hours

if you want me to play your level and check it out just PM the level code and i will play all those levels when i am back

I tried to make this my easiest level yet. Yes, there is a starman somewhere.

Hey guys, thought I'd post a few of the stages I've made so far.

Red Shell Well E62D-0000-0069-53B5

This is a pretty straight-forward underground stage. A few tricky jumps, but nothing super crazy.

Watch Out, Lakitu's About BA1E-0000-006A-426D

This one's a bit tougher. There's a bit World 8 style gap traversal here as well as a couple of lakitus to deal with. One may not be quite as bad as the other though...

Submerged Kingdom 9101-0000-0072-F27C

The idea behind this is that it was a ground stage that's been flooded. Now there are shoals of cheep cheeps to contend with as well as the original goombas and koopas. It looks tougher than it is. Then again, there were 0 clears the last time I checked so maybe not. :D

Recently Drained C666-0000-0073-45DE

Just PMed you with this one, Naar. It's Submerged Kingdom with the theme changed from underwater to ground. I just wanted to make sure that it could actually be cleared as a ground stage for authenticity's sake, and it was kind of fun. Cheap, sloppy, but kind of fun, so I put it up as well. Now it's both more popular and has a higher clear rate than the original version. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That's it for now. I working on some Mario 3 and World stuff, now that finally caved in and swindled the unlock system like everyone else. Really excited about the Mario 3 stage in particular.

How do you make those screenshots? Capture card?

That's a good thing to aim for. Most people seemingly have no idea how long Mario levels actually were. I mean, look at maps for Mario 3 levels. It isn't rare to see a Mario Maker level that is 6, 7, 8 times as long as a late-game course from Mario 3.

thanks for watching guys! i went through all the submissions that i was sent. i will probably have a mic in a day or 2 but i hope everything else about the stream was ok.

Tried watching feed through crappy mobile reception but it was jumping all over the place. Saw a few snapshots of you playing my level though, thanks! Heroic effort trying to juggle the large Bob-omb, I guess you missed the hidden block? Coin trail leading upwards should almost always land you smack into it, I guess this wasn't quite obvious enough.

I then saw you finish by swimming over the giant Goombas rather than under them, with the shell helmet on they are designed to be barged out of the way! Well played anyway, look forward to your next stream.

I fixed the saw area and added a checkpoint area. Is there any other area you thought was too tight I could fix?

The first pair of sawblades right when you enter the room are really tight as I recall, especially as they're your introduction to the room.

As for revisions I honestly don't recommend them at all. You made a fun, playable level and you could probably make a whole new one in the time it would take you to rework this. They don't have to be perfect to continue to exist!

kYkfYXN.jpg

What the heck, was that really necessary? Some people...

I feel bad for his brother.

Some people are just nasty about this game on Miiverse, and Nintendo doesn't do much about it. It's ridiculous how vigilant they are about spoilers but the often personal "try harder" attacks get a pass.

Man, I wish you could edit your uploaded levels without having to remove them first. Kinda sucks if you find a small thing you want to fix.

Looks cool, I'll try it in a bit. I have two one-screen levels of my own. The first is hard, the second is sadistic and has the lowest clear rate of my levels so far.

101 Spikes Round 2 - ★VERY HARD★

Lunchtime - played your 1st one and thought "yeah, that was just too easy".
So, I immediately jumped into the 2nd one and... thought differently.

Normally, I'd hate the belts and spikes and teeny tight corridors and whatnot but when it's all right there in front of your face in these 'one room' deals you can't help but think - "I can do that!"

I'm going to have to revisit this little hell-box tonight.

EDIT: Whoops. Accidentally quoted instead of PMing. Sorry for the double post, all!

This is probably a dumb question but can anyone explain to me how to get the Koopa's to fly? I put the wings on them, but they just hop instead of flying. If I place them in the air with wings on they just fall to the ground.

Shake them first to turn them into red koopas. I think those are the flying ones.

You can look at the movement patterns in the booklet.

Green paratroopas hop around while red paratroopas make a vertical line. So they don't really fly, they stay in the air :p.

You can place them on tracks or use buzzers, spinies and bloopers which actually do fly around.

3-1 Splish Splash Lake

First underwater level for this. Pretty easy because it's the first. Later on (probably 3-4) I will do another one, which will up the difficulty quite a bit. This is simply to teach you underwater mechanics. The next few levels will also increase quite a bit compared to world 1 and 2, which were rather easy.

Have you ever wondered what happens with all the enemies and items that are left behind when Mario rushes through a level?

Mario travels to the Dry Bones' Disposal Center to uncover a terrifying truth in this 3-part adventure.

All levels follow the same mechanics with some evolution between them. Also, all levels have 2 checkpoints each to help you beat the level.

Dry Bones´ Disposal Center series felt a bit over punishing.
Drybone enemies are hard to handle while avoiding other hazards, you always end up jump on them at the wrong time. You also often hit a bone you didn't see coming.

Nice idea with the secret check points, but it was very confusing at the beginning.

I also stuck myself in a few places.

On the other hand I enjoyed Sky Bridge 1 very much, slowly jumping over the saw-blades was weirdly rewarding!

I've finally got my membership approved so I can post some levels here :) I'll start with an off-beat one, Simon Says 2: Si Harder. It's a mix of dexterity and memory test that I haven't seen repeated so far, let me know what you all think :)

Had a busy past few days so haven't been on much, but did create a new level today. Probably middling difficulty at worst, there are lots of ways to approach each situation if you keep your eyes open.

CLOUDHIGH SKYWAY

Code: 8296-0000-007B-DDC8
Style: NSMBU
Secrets: Three 1ups and a secret exit
Additional Challenge: Finish the level in 60 seconds or under*

*If you find the secret exit, you can do it in 30. Going a more traditional route, I've done it in about 50.

My first upload!

It's pretty bare bones right now but eventually it will be my attempt at a 1-1 type of level (once I unlock all the tools/parts I need). I'm putting it up to play test a 'secret' platforming section. Give it a try and let me know if it's too hard or too easy (I'm pretty bad at Mario games so it's hard for me to judge). It's only 10 seconds* long now but that's just to force you to go a certain way.

This game is crazy fun!

Nice, I dig it. That's the only NSMB theme I like, but damn does it look great.

Wish we could have a non-airship version of that theme along with "Athletic" BGM.

This game is like crack on a whole other level(pun intended). I must have spent 8 hours working on a level before realizing how much time went by. Funny how this went from not even on my radar to one of my favorites in years

So...I'm making a sequel to my addictevely hard level, "I Wanna Be The Mario" (ID: 4D94-0000-0040-E45B) called "I Wanna Be The Luigi." It's not done yet, but the 3rd jump in the original level is going to have some competition for biggest 'WTF? Jump'

There's still no bullshit it in it like Hidden Coin Blocks or Cheap Enemy Deaths like the original. Just Skill-Based Platforming.

So what's the secret to getting bonus/boss music to play throughout a large area? As far as I can tell it plays as long as you're within a radius of the sound tile, including if that tile is in a moving target like an enemy. An enemy one will activate when you enter the radius, but a non-enemy one will only activate once you make contact with it, then stay active while you're within the radius. It seems like if you put a bunch of the tiles in an area such that their spheres of influence all overlap, once you activate one of them the rest will just maintain the music, rather than restarting it. Unless you leave the range at any point. Does that sound right?

I'm not certain if you have to actually touch another music tile to expand the radius or if being within the combined influence area is enough to keep it going. I'd end up placing very differently if contact was required vs just sphere influence, I could spread those out way more.

That's pretty much it. In my latest level I actually have Jr. activate the boss music in a clown car, and it lasts until you defeat him.

Really wild idea for a stage! Well plotted during the boss battle, really enjoyed it. I don't love the spikes hidden below the lava though, I'd rather have them on blocks and have the player know just what's going on. I'd also change the end where you have to access the pipe, which is unnecessarily difficult. Very good stuff otherwise, just a brilliant boss battle.

Thanks for the feedback. I completely forgot to make normal tiles at the very end, lol. There's spikes throughout everything since it's possible to take out JR early by accident and he won't have a chance to finish the fight with you if he just falls in the lava.

Do you have any ideas for the end (Other than spikes)? I made it that way so you'd finish the fight with Jr. and then leave the sub area when you have some time to look around.
