How is everyone's PSN download speeds with PS4 3.00 FW?

Tell us what speed your ISP sells you.
200/30

Do a speed test on your PC and report the speed.
211 Mbps / 34.17 Mbps

Do an internet connection test on your PS4 and report that speed.
78.0 Mbps / 4.3 Mbps

And tell us if you notice any improvement.
Faster but still under half of what I coould be getting.

Router if that helps anyone: TP-Link Archer C7

Yees, I tried two demos, they both maxed my connection throughout without ever dipping in speed. First time since pre 2.0 Fucking miracle. My connection tops out at 3.3 mb/s real time.

I couldn't tell you because I haven't been able to connect to PSN for the last 4 days. Ps3, Ps4, Vita, PC and tablet can not access PSN in any way. Can't download anything, can't access friend list. Can't load up their store on PC or tablet. Actually, My PS4 did manage to grab the 3.00 update at 5 in the morning. Apart form that, nada.

There are quite a few people with this issue posting on reddit and the PSN support forums, but it doesn't look like much because they're all creating small, separate threads.

I've read about people talking to support with no avail. Their ISP's can't figure out the problem. It seems to be on Sony's end. I've tweeted @Playstation, hell if I know if that'll do any good, but I've not seen any acknowledgement of this issue.

Same old tricks for me, unfortunately. Was crawling along until I pause and restarted a few times, then back to the same speed. No visible change in speed after having left in rest mode either. But that's OK. At least this didn't make it worse and I don't mind the pause restart just as long as it eventually goes at a good speed.

So in the end it's still the same for me as well. I was downloading NFS beta, and about half way in, the speed dropped to 1/3.
Sigh.

Everyone should do the following:
  • Tell us what speed your ISP sells you.
  • Do a speed test on your PC and report the speed.
  • Do an internet connection test on your PS4 and report that speed.
  • And tell us if you notice any improvement.

- 100/3
- 112.5/3.3
- 34.5/2.3
- Use to get around 10mb/s (give or take ~3mb/s)

So it was doing good for something and for this, too, but started to slow down? Might be the beta isn't well propagated to the cdns. The overall issue seems to be fixed.

Before the update I got decent download speed not the fastest but it was ok. Now nothing changed so I'm okay with the update.

Same for me as well. Had to download an update, was going really slow, done the pause/resume trick about three times and it went fine after that.

I've noticed a big difference since the update that wasn't in the beta. I did a test before and after the updates. I had a 5 Gig file that took almost 40 minutes downloading at 1-2 megs per second looking at the DL status.

Downloaded the NFS Beta that is 18 Gigs and it said 50 minutes with downloading 7 megs a second. For the record I have 100 down 10 up.

I downloaded Oilli Oilli in like a split second so I'm assuming they are way better when downloading stuff. Hopefully they have fixed this.

Have you messed with mtu settings before? Sounds like what would happen if those are messed up. I'd recreate your network config...

I have never changed my MTU before, always left it at automatic. And unsurprisingly, after messing with other recommended MTU values (1473, 1450 etc.), my download speed remains the same. Still around 100 kbits/s. Just ridiculously slow.

My router's network settings all remained the same as before the update too. My PS4 is put in a DMZ, no firewall in between.
It was all fine prior to the 3.00 update. It has got to be the new firmware that's causing the issue for me.

If you can try plugging the ps4 directly into the modem, that might be a good test, too.

Well I sent the nfs download to my ps4 at lunch and it was done when I got home.......on wireless WIRELESS!! I've been happy with it so far

I have a wireless connection only and it's maintaining a faster speed now, for sure. Pre-3.00 my connection was inconsistent and all over the place.

I tried the speed test on my PS3 just to be sure and funnily enough, I have slow download speeds on that thing aswell. I then connected both directly to the modem and fuck me, it's working just fine now.

No idea why my stupid modem startet acting weird the same day I updated the firmware but at least I can download games at normal speeds now. Good thing I don't need that crap router anyway. It's going to the trash now.

Heh, I hope you at least tried rebooting the router before deciding to trash it. :) Maybe it needs to be reset to factory reset or get a firmware update.

same here.. something is wrong.
all weekend i try to fix it but nothing.. shit

I went to search to see if I was the only one who sees contact fast speed. It's definetly improved on all downloads not just "unpopular" games. Best feature of 3.0

Speeds were almost always fast. I'll have to see if they are any faster.

I don't use WiFi, but I do bridge my pcs WiFi to my PS4 via Ethernet.

Is it possible to do the speed test in the ps4 browser? Just trying to see if we can reduce as many variables as possible here if we want to get scientific about it :p

If you test using ookla on PC you are using multiple streams. If you test using psn test, or download, it's a single stream

Test in the ps4 browser:
http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest

Compare setting 1 stream in test preferences to 8 or more.

They may have increased the TCP settings in the OS for faster downloads or maybe not, either way, unless they use a bit torrent style system for downloading games, or you are right next to a psn server you won't max out a super fast connection.

Thanks. So what should really be happening is using those sites on your PC, and using the same site with the same settings on your ps4, and seeing if there's a difference.

It's the same as usual for me, I downloaded the Uncharted collection demo earlier and was getting about 7MB/s download, after about 5GB it slowed to a crawl until I paused and restarted the download.

Virgin Media 152mb package, ethernet.

I am downloading the big Wild Hunt patch, which is my first PS4 download since the update. It slows to a crawl and even loses the connection to PSN in rest mode, which has never happened before. I think it is actually worse.
