Apologies if this has been answered multiple times but I haven't been following the thread and I can't see it in the OP.

How do I play the game as nature the devs intended i.e. with the unlocks being slowly dripped out?

I have the game but have yet to play it.

Content is added as a result of you placing out blocks, and you placing out the new items you get. So just build courses without spamming and the unlocks should appear quite slowly.

Game still has the lock system ... but instead of taking 1 day it takes a few minutes/number of blocks.

You just think about doing levels with the limitations of the batches it gives, like only making a level with basic floor/obstacle blocks

I would have thought we'd hear about the first major content update for MM. Some of the stuff from the Smash Bros stage seem likely to be added (slopes, tilted platforms and lava pits), along with the two new costumes they've advertised, and I hope more features.

Slopes alone would be a game changer.

I'll play the submissions in a few minutes and send a message with my votes to daydream. Not quite sure I will do the same recap as last time, since it took me a while to do so.

Has anyone got the numbers for the amount of costumes you can unlock per difficulty? I can't remember if I've unlocked all the ones from medium yet.

This is a Metroid inspired level which requires areas to be beaten in a specific order. I hope you enjoy it!

Got most of the way through your level. Most of my comments echo what's already in the level, so I won't repeat what's there.

Tonight's 10takill ~ Super Mario Maker livestream archive is up!
Check it out here: https://youtu.be/t6XHFHVBnIQ

I went 19-8 over 27 levels played.

TheDutchSlayer and Nezumi, your entries seemed to have problems with the Stage IDs, and I couldn't load them. Sorry about that!

Thanks to everyone who participated in the livestream, and especially to NetMapel and VandalD for keeping things civil.

As always, if anybody has any suggestions on how to improve the stream, things they'd like to see, stuff they hate, anything like that, let me know!

Thanks for giving Trash Compactor a go, no shame in not being able to finish in 10 lives! Thanks for starring it anyway. 174C-0000-006C-D1F1 if anyone else up for dieing a lot ;)

Aye - there will be 8 worlds as usual :)

Heads up that my next update won't be for a while but it will contain the final 4 worlds in one go. I don't want to publish them one at a time in case I want to swap the order due to difficulty and the like... I do have a plan though.

I really Appreciate the kind words and Nocturnowl's review! I don't think I'll be able to stop making levels now :)

Cheers.

16 stars from me as well.

I think 4-4 has a weird spike in difficulty. Some minor things you may want to look at are the pipes. The leave a gap when it's not hooked on. And semi solid blocks also give off their colors.

Like seeing a faint of purple on top of the ground.

The levels are fresh while still being Nintendo-esque.

Hi everyone, PM me your favourite level if you want to see me play it, please choose a level that you are proud of. I'll play and record the first 5-10 levels that I receive. I will edit and upload the video in the next 24 hours and share the link here.

Keep in mind that I enjoy fair, fast and challenging action / platforming based levels more than puzzlers, nevertheless, if you feel very happy about your level, send it over, I'll give it a good shot!

My next Halloween level is a nice Super Mario World styled Ghost House. This level is probably special world difficulty... Only because some of its puzzles will likely make your head spin for a bit. I'm also looking for other traditional ghost houses to play if you guys have any.

Reposting for the new page! Been getting great feedback so far! Hope those of you who have yet to play this stage, can catch it this time around!

Checker-Temple
FNnrmpd.jpg
ltPuPRU.jpg

Set near Big-Tall Mountain and Trial Caverns, Checker-Temple is not frequently sought after. Its an unusual place. Wrought with unfamiliar designs and mushrooms that grow in the depths of it's chambers–using lava as nourishment–you don't know whether to admire your surroundings, or get the hell out of dodge.

Our hero treks into the depths of the temple, searching for treasure, or perhaps a friendly face. Do you have the endurance to make it out alive?

So I came home with the intention of making a true Mario like level. Instead, my brain forced me to make this abomination. I apologise in advance.

Trouble on the dance-floor
AFA0-0000-0090-3E9A

Mario is annoyed when he is disallowed entry from club Koopa for wearing trainers. Exacting his revenge as only he can, after taking in one too many mushrooms, Mario makes his escape. Can you help him evade the Rozzers and find paradise?

Ok I played a few of your levels. Here's my impressions :

Mushroom Kingdom 0029-0000-0088-D72A

I found the look a bit too busy but that's just me. I died a bit unfairly by following the arrows down :(
It's a weird level with the clown cars and everything, I don't really know what to think!

Grand Ghost Galleon: 0303-0000-0061-321E

Woah it's a bit too tough for me!
I liked the puzzles but the one where you have to hit the P-switch and then rush to the koopa troopa before the coins turn back into bricks is a bit sadistic! How are you supposed to not get hit the bouncing shell?
In the rotating fire room, you should indicate the payer can drop down.

Keep of Sacrifice: 9274-0000-0079-F788

This one was more fair! The theme is original. The main puzzle is in the room with the spring but if you get hit, you have to restart the level.

Chompin' at the Bits: 3DD4-0000-003D-783B

lol I died right at the end by the chomp-chomp behind the finish line!
The ending with the bouncing clown cars was a bit too chaotic and random! Decent level otherwise but a bit messy, there's a lack a general direction.

Thanks, I updated my page on Mariomakerhub.

My newest creations are Super TOHO World 6-1 and Backtracking is King?! (is it too convoluted..?)
Super Koopa Land, Kaizo Temple and Frozen Cove need more reviews.

I kept Saitama 30 and Super Dede Land, both had the highest star/player ratio.

I will be sure to check your levels later today.

Thanks for all the stars and play.

I was expecting the worst, but your levels are not that hard. Maybe a bit tricky and patience is a must to complete a few of them. Only the shells true ending is very hard (fuck the bloopers!). I had the most trouble with the noteblocks in Koopaland.

I hope the stars help you upload more levels :)

Goomba's Quantic Laboratory 1: BDFF-0000-0088-FA9A

Brilliant level mate! Very clever! Play this one guys! I think it's one of your best levels.
Just a few remarks:
- You can get hit a bit unfairly by the spiky roof.
- At the beginning, it's difficult to remember if you can drop down or not after switching dimensions (Will there be spikes or not? You can't see the floor)
- Maybe it's a tad too long because it's a bit stressful, you don't want to die and restart everything.

Dry Bone's Disposal Center 2·1: 9823-0000-0081-7E04

A lot more enjoyable now! Death to the dry bones with the cape! :D
Maybe you dumbed down the boss too much? Once you killed all the dry bones with the cape, it's very easy. Nice work redesigning the level!

I'll play your levels and try to beat it.

Thanks for the comments and stars!

I played most of your levels. I really liked Clown Antics,
my mastery of the clown car increased sharply!
Bowser's Castle 64 had an incredible atmosphere.
And finally Lost Levels and Kirby's Dreamland were quite relaxing.

(But I still have a revenge with Dawn courses!)

Edit: Yes finally passed the 50 stars threshold! (You completely broke the Shell Trick >_>)

Honestly once they're in at least half of my levels are starting like that one Mario 3 stage where you slide down and kill a bunch of guys then land in the water (although I guess without the water?)

Please check out these levels by a guy called Master A1, I've been talking to him on Miiverse and he's waiting for GAF membership. His levels are some of the most imaginative I've seen, and really deserve to be played.
My favourite is Monty Mole Ain't Stupid, 12B4-0000-0081-0C9B, a really clever use of a rideable Monty Mole.
Snake Block Rodeo, B02B-0000-0090-0584, has some really great improvised snakeblocks and interesting uses for them.
Check them out!

I´ve played some of the Group 3 entries, here are my impressions:

Kirbyguy (B725-0000-0058-CA7B): Felt too difficult for a 1-1. Enemy placement made them difficult to engage, specially the Winged Koopas coming from above. There are many bottomless pits and the level felt too short and without guidance. There were some nice secrets.

Dad (04F7-0000-004D-D67C): Very good level, There are bottomless pits, but coins are used masterfully to guide the player around all the level. Enemy placement is perfect, always giving the advantage to the player and announcing them with enough time to come up with a plan on how to engage them. The whole level´s layout is thought to guide the player in a non-intrusive way. Really good work.

MaxwellGT2000 (5E82-0000-001E-F62F): This level didn´t feel like a 1-1. Bottomless pits everywhere, lots of enemies thrown at the player at once from tricky positions (the level even starts right next to a pipe spawning Koopas above the ground before you can get to the first powerup), lots of different enemy types, requires running, running jumps and even a running jump with a spring over a wide bottomless pit...There is no continuity or evolution in enemies, mechanics or challenges. The Copter powerup had no sense, you just get it a few meters before the goal so there´s no chance to really use it.

Lady Siara (6D34-0000-003F-420E): Several Hammer Bros are spread over the level, which makes it too difficult for a 1-1. Running is required in certain parts and I saw some things that made no sense, like a Spiny trapped between some blocks and only accesible from above (which would kill the player), but in a place where it was easy to see, so I really couldn´t understand the purpose of it, it felt really out of place.

Sixfortyfive (EC81-0000-0059-CE01): Very intelligent level layout from start to finish. This level does two things that I felt were specially remarkable: the first one is that invisible blocks are used in a perfect way to teach the player about secrets and rewards. The other was putting a Koopa into a Question Block. This is usually a big no, but it´s used in a safe setup and to guide the player towards the completion of a small puzzle and teach him a few things about Koopa shells and block interactions. Genius. The enemy placement through all the level is perfect as well. Awesome level.

I´ll review the rest in the following days.

Have played through the Round 3 1-1 entries and starred. Posted my ballot - some really good levels although a common theme seems to be that a lot of them are too complex or hard for a 1-1. I prepared for going through them by playing SMB3 and SMW 1-1 levels on VC. I judged the levels based on what elements they used and whether I felt that there was progression in the use of said elements whilst still keeping the level fair for beginners. Overall though, the standard was really good!

Also, Naar, I've admitted defeat in Mario Trials 3. I can't seem to make it to the flagpole. The one time that I DID make it, I leapt clean over it and landed on the spikes behind it. You win this one!

Made a forest stage, since there is no forest theme in Mario Maker:

0A1F-0000-0081-A26F

08594XJ.jpg

Not that hard, a bit of exploration.

The second course I made, my first is a bit harder: 0A1F-0000-0081-A26F

That forest stage just confused me honestly. At no point did I know what I was doing. Not bad just that I didn't feel any sense of progression because I had no idea what was what.

Your first stage I gave up at the coin dive with all the plants. That is a level I could have beaten but I personally have run out of the desire to even attempt anymore. Not bad but not for me.

Haven't had time to post any feedback recently, but I think I'll have more time soon (probably starting tomorrow and through next Monday).

Anyway, thanks to all the GAFers that played my levels and left comments! I promise I will be returning the favor soon.

Since it doesn't look like anyone else is streaming tonight so far, I'll be streaming user-submitted levels again at about 10PM Eastern (approx. two hours from now). Post a code for a level and I'll stream it. One code per GAFfer. It can be for your stage or someone else's stage of your choice. Just quote this post with the code so that I can easily see it. First come, first served; I might not be able to get to everything if a lot of levels are posted. The stream URL will be posted later.

In the meantime, you could also try my stages (ordered from newest to oldest). I haven't added any new stages in a while, though.

smw style, basically a spin jumping level. I understand in advance if you end up just skipping it since it's a bit of challenge and still a work in progress.

I just like the bizarre "yeaaaaahhhhh!" he yells, it reminds me of various things said on the show. The way he says it almost sounds like Kramer.

And then, more of a stretch...I decided to do the Castle Rock Entertainment ending jingle too, and the fact that Luigi's ending music is 5 notes, similar to the Sony Pictures Television jingle was kind of a strangely appropriate thing.

Seinfeld end credits for reference.
