2 weeks until ToZ! Man, can't wait to get the CE in the mail.

How's the story compared to Xillia? How are the costumes this time? I'm sure 1 or 2 for each character, the rest DLC?

I dunno, I'm just really excited to be playing a Tales game on PC.

Tales of Zestiria (PS3/PS4/Steam) |OT| The main heroine is not who you think she is

Likely too long, but I never know where to check for the exact allowed title length. In any case I'd put systems instead regions as the ports are all new.

Just popping in to say that I beat Hearts R a few days ago and had a lot of fun with it.
Only other Tales games I've played are Xillia 1&2, enjoyed those slightly more but overall I had a lot of fun with all 3, mainly because of the battle systems and the charisma of most party members.
It's interesting but unlike other jrpgs where I'd usually sum up my experience based on other emotions more connected with story aspects, the first word that comes to mind for me here is really that: fun.
Though the writing can be corny, it's also very humurous and what really stands out in my mind are all those genuinely funny moments, interpreted by a bunch of imo truly likeable characters.

Spoilers are often spoiled by people who don't know (yet) what to what extend is actually spoiling. Only the back and forth with those who do know solidifies it.

Anyway to answer the original question (contains no spoiler for people with no idea of the story at all):
Once in Zaveid stays in the party.

Hi guys.

Kind of a newbie to the Tales Of series. I played Symphonia a long time ago and LOVED it, but I've been having an issue playing them ever since. My problem is console/PC gaming just isn't the way for me to play anymore.

What are your favorite Tales games that can be played in some form of mobile/handheld fashion? I'd love to get back into the series.

Money literally cannot buy that localization.

It's beyond a lifetime of dedication to come up with a localization like that.

It's like all the stars aligned in every single permutation of the alternate dimensions to our universe all at the same time.

Tales of the Abyss 3DS is good from what I've heard. Also has better load times than the original game.

The story is probably my favorite in a Tales game, but the characters are very hit and miss for some people (everyone in the party is an asshole who becomes a better person at some point), and the game loves throwing made up words at you (FONONS FONONS FONONS FONONS). Still one of the better Tales games, imo. It's probably the game most similar to Symphonia in terms of combat.

This is great to hear! I've played a little of Abyss for the PS2, and the load times were killer. That mixed with my issues with console/PC gaming... I just couldn't get past an hour or two.

That is really tiny for PS4. I thought it had better graphics like textures, shadows, resolution. How is it the same size as the PS3 version?

Did anyone else preorder the CE on Amazon? Do you see this?

Mine says the same. Hopefully it will be fine. I found this reddit thread from last week where someone had the same issue/concern about their Rock Band preorder from Amazon. Seems like it worked out. Apparently, Amazon had it listed like that because they hadn't received the inventory yet?

tbh, I am slightly tempted to change my preorder to Gamestop (surprisingly they still have the CE in stock) just for the peace of mind.

I just did, the last two Amazon reps were brain dead. Each one says its out of stock, but I keep telling them I preordered July 8th, the day it was announced. This was before going deeper into my order and it says November 24th when to expect it shipping. I noticed Gamestop.com still has them, knowing my luck it will be out of stock before it ships. I probably won't get the CE. :/

So I'm falling in deep with Hearts R. My only previous Tales of experience was Vesperia.

I keep forgetting how engaging Tales battle system is. The only poor translation stuff that's really stuck out for me was Beryl's and I figured that was supposed to be an intentional quirk given how often it happens with her compared to the rest of the cast. Granted I'm not very far (Mount Grimm) so maybe I haven't seen the worst of it yet?

Assuming I love this all the way through what are the odds I should sign up for Zestiria?

Yes, Beryl's wording is intentional. It's like she's repeating idioms incorrectly. (Kind of like how some people say "peak my interest" or "for all intensive purposes".) It threw me off at first, too.

I played Hearts R after Xillia 2, and the battle system felt horrible and clunky to me. Dashing was useless because you couldn't attack out of it. It felt really stiff, and there were way too many "pauses" after attacks, where you would have to wait for an animation to finish and go to a resting state before you could move to the next attack. I didn't realize how much side-stepping added to the combat for me, and it was sorely missed coming from Xillia 2. Also, fuck the balloon mini-game. Fuck it to hell. It was bad in Abyss and even worse in Hearts R.

Somehow it's a little more comedic that people saying "could of been".

How does one even mess shit up to that extent?
