Still surreal. Might make a thread for advice on how to make the most of it.

AVP 4 player for me.

Or a NeoGeo MVS 4 slot (Loved those things) with Puzzle Bobble, Metal Slug, SamSho 2, and WindJammers

DCharlie

And even i am moderately surprised
AVP 4 player for me.

isn't it three player max?

I mean, i sold mine an age back and it's a great game but it was 3 players... right?

I feel senile that i can't remember for sure lol

Never had the chance to play any Capcom beat em up in the arcade except Final Fight 1. Always saw X-men and The Simpsons though.

oh man, those Capcom ones were class - didn't play much of Knights/Cadillacs & dinos but i played the shit out of Punisher. genesis port is great (nuts to 16 bit), but i miss that one cutscene where Fury & Frank are chatting up as they swim through a sewer or something to get to Fisk's hideout, right? Punisher says "you nervous, Nick?" and Fury just says something like "nah, just angry i can't smoke down here". haha, so awesome.

That list is... weird.

What are the sources? Is it US-only? How does revenue make sense or get counted anyway? Game companies don't make the revenue from quarters, they make it from cabinet sales. And even weirder, Donkey Kong only has one year of sales?

Order should be based on cabinet sales numbers, only way it can make sense.

Thanks for having my name on here, I'll have tons more retro games next year and beyond as I play on more retro systems.

I'd like to get a 4 player turtles cab, a Street Fighter 2 Championship Edition and Mortal Kombat. Tricky to find them these days in the uk

No, but we should. A lot of Gaffers have Arcade/Mame cabinets. Could be a good time, I love talking Arcades.

man, i'd do it but i so little about the scene it's tragic, i'd just end up having a rewritten OP like 645 did for the the RGB thread, haha. who'd be good for this? we'd need sections for arcade boards, MAME boxes, cabinets, superguns/JAMMA stuff etc

See it's hard finding stuff like this. http://neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=972833&highlight=arcade+cabinet

having it it contained under one thread would be the bees knees. I would make one, but I'm just a fan of the games, not a crazy enthusiast.

^fuckin gorgeous

yeah there's a few loose threads about JAMMA/etc stuff about, id definitely have links to them in the OP as well, but we'd need basic write-ups on boards, superguns/how to play them, cabinets (us/candy), etc

It always bugs me to see Nintendo themed cabinets. The presence of Nintendo in the Arcade was anecdotal at best, but because people love the home console brand they must plaster it everywhere.

right? like..i remember Sears/etc type ads in the day for home cabinets that'd demo with SMB1, but it's a weird choice. genesis was way more the arcadey port machine, but even that'd be strange. i do love the paddle in the middle for Crystal Castle or whatever it was though, haha

Hey whatever makes people happy, but incorrect aspect ratios and SD on a nasty LCD screen kind of defeat the purpose of 'being authentic' to me.

Actual arcade board enthusiasts and mame makers are vastly different scenes too, the former would spit on the latter from my experience!

Agreed with that too.

Do you guys follow John Riccardi (JohnTV here and of 8-4) on Twitter.

Looks like he's back in the states for a bit and is going through his lifetime gaming collection, posting pics and putting them on his Twitter account.

Dude has tons of stuff!

Plus, he's got a lot of stuff from his journalism days. Pretty cool to see. And practically all of is CIB and pristine.

At least he doesn't have to worry about retirement lol.

He's @johntv on Twitter if you're curious.

Morfeo

The Chuck Norris of Peace
I follow him and yeah, have been enjoying his tweets the last few days a ton. So much cool stuff!

So just to confirm: when opening a cartridge up with a game bit and scrubbing the entire length of the contacts with rubbing alcohol isn't sufficient to revive a game cartridge, that's the point where we resort to pencil erasers and Brasso, right? In that order?

Because dangit I'd really like it if my copies of Little Mermaid on the Genesis and Tonic Trouble on the N64 would work already.

I do a lot of retro stuff at controllercrusade.com, but there's also a big modern focus so I'm not sure if it counts.

An eraser is my first choice, but yeah. If it doesn't work anyway might as well try a tiny dab of Brasso and some gentle polishing.

what do we do ? I guess it's a "so you've decided to get into arcading at home?"

then a run down of all the options , the pros and cons, displays and outputs, what you need to get started, the pitfalls, how much the underside of a pcb cuts your hands etc ?

I'll try and knock something up but if there's anything else to touch on, let me know

that pretty much sounds like the gist of it, yeah! we can always add any more details as we go, but that sounds like a solid primer.
