Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Thread: Everyone wants it, no one uses it

Has anyone been able to get DiRT3 working on Xbox One yet? I purchased the game at Xbox.com and was hoping it would show up in my ready to install list like many other 360 games have.

12th November.

Make sure you DL the VIP pass otherwise you can't play online. That's free with gold atm as well and isn't included in the base game.

I can see Activision putting CoD games on the BC list down the road....but not in November. I think they want all eyes on Black Ops 3. ....Maybe one CoD release a year starts showing up on the BC list in mid-summer. But I'd love to be proven wrong and start seeing CoD games on BC Day One.

Black Ops 1/2 maybe but I doubt they're too fussed about COD 4, isn't that game full of hackers nowadays anyway. Another thing to note is BC isn't out until a week after BO3's release so the game will already have gotten a shit ton of sales by then.

Add South Park TSOT into the list I posted that's a new game he's played. I think EvB posted it a while back though

Very excited about this. Really looking forward to the tech analysis of these games. Again just praying they improve Nuts & Bolts performance. It deserves better!

sure this has been answered like a million times, read OP and didn't see anything... but what about downloadable arcade titles like say Castlevania SOTN or Contra or whatever... be cool if you could download those to Xbox One at some point.

There are currently many XBLA games up in preview and SotN looks to be coming November 12.

Re fake lists - the first 100 or so titles are announced on Monday. After that "100s" more are due over next few months. Or be patient, swines.

Any list that doesn't have Dirt 3 and Dungeon Siege 3 are a dead giveaway for being fake...Mike already confirmed it was a launch title

A few weird exclusions there.
Saints Row and Saints Row 3, but no Saints Row 2? Saints Row has been re released so that makes sense.
Fallout 3, but no New Vegas? Losing hope for a Fallout game by the New Vegas team :(
And Fable 2 & 3 but no Fable Anniversary?
There's probably a few more I've missed.

Not all games will be available at launch.. only 100 ish with "hundreds more coming in the months after"

I wonder how (if) they'll cater for those of us who bought GOTY editions that have the DLC on a separate disc. I currently have:

Dragon Age: Origins/Awakenings
Fallout 3 GOTY
Fallout NV GOTY
Bioshock Infinite Complete

And all have the DLC installable from a menu on a separate disc.

With Borderlands I have the GOTY two disk edition. For BC I inserted the first disc and it automatically installed all the DLC.

Any performance improvements when playing Xbox 360 games on Xbox One? Faster loading times, better resolution and so on.

Right, but if the only thing needed is the publisher's sign-off, it makes no sense that titles like Fable Anniversary are not available at launch. Unless they are QA testing every BC title as well.

But with Borderlands they made the DLC free for everyone on B/C
I can't see every game doing that.

so far every game has forced Vsync but this is both good and bad depending how how often a game would tear, mass effect for example has large frame rate drops due to it.

If Reach becomes backwards compatible next week, i will play through campaign on legendary difficulty to commemorate the occasion...

BK3 on the highest difficulty in two-player mode on the SVC: Streets of Rage collection oddly tears and slows down in the late stages where it never did on an actual X360 (or Genny/MD). Hopefully, it's just related to beta performance of the early emulation as N+ and Shadow Complex both received updates that brought performance up to par with the real thing, or, at least, so very close that it's hard to tell the difference.

interesting, I wonder if that's something to do with a game being emulated inside an emulated console lol

Nope, it's exactly the same except most titles have enforced vsync (which has a 1-2fps penalty).

thinking back, one minor plus for mass effect was that texture streaming was a tiny bit quicker and cutscenes would fade out half a second early, most likely loading time releated.

I will actually be severely disappointed if we don't get RDR or Bad Company 2... both some of the most requested games.

It´s not really up to MS.

If the publisher says no because of whatever reason (fear of selling less on new games, ...), then that´s it.

It would suck if Saints Row 2 was lefted out

that game is the best in the series and one of the best sandbox games of all time

I'm still not entirely sure I understand the licensing issue that prevents MS from just doing it. If the game is available to download on XBL for 360, what's the difference?

Is it that the code has to be modified/appended that requires the permission?
