Does anyone know of any Splatoon stuff that could be announced for this? Is everything from the 2.0 patch released yet, or close to it? There's no way they're done with Splatoon yet.

too much smash talk

Probably just a preview of stages and weapons still to come, with a new stage on Friday.

Playable Octolings are not happening

Nothing is confirmed, but I can't imagine Nintendo is putting major resources into the WiiU anymore for games that aren't revealed already.

If a game was almost complete this summer, it seems like a waste of resources to port it to different architecture. There is no way the NX architecture was mature enough 1+ years ago to be able to be used as a development platform for games that would be reaching almost-finished states by this last summer.

Iwata said NX development would be easier because they were integrating WiiU architecture. So it be easily be doable since they've been working on the NX since the WiiU launched.

This is a NINTENDO all stars game. There are always Nintendo characters to add.

I have a bad feeling that most (or all) newcomers that are coming through DLC are going to be third party characters because it might be easier for them to work out the license and split the profits.

it might be easier to use more money getting the license to a character then using one of their own for free?

No, I'm talking about Default roster Vs. DLC roster for Third-Party characters. It's just my hutch that third party dlc might be easier to acquire the licenses with other companies since they could split the profits, etc.

Hopefully they announce Krystal as a Smash Bros character, she was highly fan demanded since Brawl. She would be a good female rep for the Star Fox franchise as they don't really have one and Nintendo is well known to be progressive. Sure Samus was a shock in the early times of Metroid, but it seems they regressed with Other M. Rekindling with higher standards would be good. I mean in Smash Bros. the girl from Kid Icarus points out the hilarity of Peach getting captured so they identified that trope.

Given the choice between Krystal and Wolf with Brawl, Sakurai chose Wolf for various reasons.

I imagine given the choice again, he'd again pick Wolf, probably more strongly that Wolf is an established Smash vet (and a fairly popular one).

Why are we talking about Smash? Have we run out of things to hype?

So it's just another Smash thread now. Boooo

1. Smash DLC is more likely to be reveal in the Direct hence Smash DLC Discussion.

2. If you want to talk something else then trying to contribute something to the discussion instead of whining about it. :p

3. Nintendo is all about the hype. Smash hype is the best

I have to intervene, Zelda hype is the best hype. Proof: TP announcement at E³ 2004. *goosebumps* :)

Therefore, in view of the very possibly TP HD announcement, TP HD should be the best hype for this Direct! :)

Don't underestimate Zelda hype! If we see nothing by E3, the hype will be unbearable by then.

I'm confused. You think it'll be third party because the licenses would be easier to work out than Nintendo-owned characters? Uh...

Well... What do you think Nintendo has up their sleeves aside from things which are somewhat confirmed to exist? (Twilight Princess HD, Pikmin 4, Lost Reavers, localizations)

For some twisted reason, I think we will get the announcement of some major Wii U update. It is almost a year since Nintendo actually added some new functions to the Wii U firmware.

New Wii U Experience? :p

I think he means it's easier to get third parties for DLC than to get third parties for the base game. Because you can tell Sega 'you can have 30% of the Ryu money' rather than 'you can get a flat rate for Sonic being on the disc.'

Read my second post on that. It should clear up your confusion.

He just put it just perfect for me. Thank you VegiHam.

Actually, I think I'm being pessimist about Nintendo characters being DLC characters because they might want to save them for next iteration.

Ah. Didn't see that before. Reasonable guess, I suppose.

So, Intelligent Systems. This year they've released Codename STEAM and Fire Emblem Fates (they're not in charge of localisation for us western folks), this means they're hard at work. And they're always working on two or three projects at a time.

Question is, will they have moved to NX, or could they have something up their sleeve for the current systems?

The only thing they've done for Wii U is Pullblox/Pushmo, so perhaps it's time for Paper Mario to make his glorious entry into HD? It would coincide with Paper Jam making him talked about again, in time for a new entry.

You know what would be killer DLC for me?

Replays and YouTube uploads for Splatoon and Mario Maker.

It was in MK8 and they added it to Smash with the tournament update, I think both of those games would get a huge boost in participation and evangelism if they had that feature.

I'd like to see photo modes in more of Nintendo's games actually.

I don't know. I just don't really see a lot of hype regard with Zelda Triforce Heroes.

I dunno if they'll add it to other games. But I bet NX will have that at a system level.

would be so awesome. ever since Splatoon came out I've had the urge to buy a capture card. I can't buy one until 2016 though so if they added this that would be awesome.

I don't know. I just don't really see a lot of hype regard with Zelda Triforce Heroes.

In fairness that was a spinoff / spiritual successor to Four Swords Adventures that really didn't gel with a lot of people.

It's like doubting a new 2D or 3D Mario game would garner much interest because most people's expectations for Mario Tennis Ultra Smash are near ground-zero.

I'm hoping for some substantial, paid DLC for Splatoon. Maybe some new single player content or a horde mode that can be played solo or cooperatively online. I need an excuse to get sucked into the world of Splatoon again.

My issue is he is not a Nintendo allstar. Or even a third party with major ties to Nintendo like the others. He was added as a favor.

If we were to get more third parties (which I do not even want), let them be with characters with ties to Nintendo

snake has major ties with nintendo

he was in the game super smash brothers brawl which sold 10 million copies on the nintendo wii

Please provide a source.

"In this perspective, while we are only going to be able to start this with the next system, it will become important for us to accurately take advantage of what we have done with the Wii U architecture. It of course does not mean that we are going to use exactly the same architecture as Wii U, but we are going to create a system that can absorb the Wii U architecture adequately. When this happens, home consoles and handheld devices will no longer be completely different, and they will become like brothers in a family of systems."

I wouldn't. Especially after his comments that it's "great to see so many female characters this time around"
