October 2015 NPD (U.S. Hardware) Predictions - Closes November 10th

They do not have it on lock. Its going to be a competitive as fuck month.
Ehhh
Cod&star wars bundle vs fallout&tomb raider bundel

Base console bundles(seem to be) uncharted bundle vs gears bundles(remasters)-

Price parity

Idk it's looking like a sony win especially with how all these black friday bundles look so far

There won't be a huge gap like last year for either console in Nov/Dec, unless MS pushes out some last minute insane deals like even better bundles for $250.

You are already seeing it. The Xbox bundles come with giftcards. The PS4's do not. Its way of attracting a cheaper price point without cutting price further.

MS battles tooth and nail in the Holidays.

Anyone assuming a huge PS4 victory already is making a grave error. (Though not saying it CAN'T happen)

Uhh... if you think the $30 gift card is going to save the Xbox when PS4 has price parity and much, much bigger bundled games...

Ok, I guess.

The whole gift card thing is not the same. People will see $299 for both + some extra stuff thrown in.

A straight up price drop to $250 has a way bigger impact, even if it ends up being a worse deal than $299 + gift cards and other stuff.

The first thing people see is price, and in a rush to get aconsole a gift card won't do much since ps4 is finally at $299!

Fallout & CoD bundles for PS4 already gave it a boost for November win dude. Next up is Battlefront Bundles which will have the same effect as 2014 Destiny Bundle, then you have $299 PS4's on BF.

It's 99% that PS4 will win November bro.

If Sony loses it then there is something wrong with SCEA marketing. At price parity it wasn't long ago that MS couldn't compete for jack shit. If they do now then MS has officially erased the perception challenge - and they've been hard at work at it. Not that I believe that has happened or will happen but, you never know with the masses.

October console sales disparity will be extremely telling of where the consumer will gravitate in November. If PS4 wins, forget November. If Xbox wins but the sales disparity is less than 50k-60k forget November too. > 100k disparity in favor of Xbox, now we're talking.

A cookie with lemon flavor.

Those exist in the realm of possibility though, his post doesn't :p

Xbox could win BF, but if it gets outsold the rest of the month, I don't see a win.

Neither of them will win by 400k like last year. Gap will be smaller.

I dont see why it woudl be smaller new price on the PS4 plus much better bundles then last year.

This is also the first time the PS4 will be $299.

Mmm, I dunno man those Battlefront bundles don't seem to be running out. I could see PS4 leading by 400k in November.

Exactly, nobody is going to win big. I don't see how that makes for a more interesting thread than what we have for October.

That does not really provide that much value since SW BF is not out yet .
That is the big game changer for NOV .

The SW bundle is big for sure. Less so IMO than is being implied on these boards.

We are 11 days in and a massive amount of hardware has already been moved. Fallout and Black Ops combined moved much more hardware than Battlefront will. Much more.

Mmm, this thread is delivering, I'm getting pumped up, feel like doing bets with posts like these.

I guess at that point the question would be, how much will each sell in November? Both will sell big, and outselling the Xbox One by 400k would be a massive accomplishment.

Like, if the Xbox One were to be flat this year (1.2m), an extra 400k would put the PS4 right up there with the 360's peak November (1.7m). That would be crazy.

Plus when the movie comes out that can also effect things in Dec.

Battlefront PS4 bundle got a huge amount of pre-orders in October that will all be added to November NPD too.

You are forgetting that SW movie is coming out next month .
I see that SW bundle moving hardware for 2 months unlike COD and Fallout .
Plus you are forgetting the SE PS4 how is fallout going to move more hardware than a SE PS4 that people have been ordering for months .
Either way time will tell .

Anny one got the numbers for last year Nov and Dec.

$30 GC vs bundled CoD or Battlefront, both of which have their own box designs for that extra Xmas cheer from the kiddies.

Hmm, that is actually a tough one.

How about walking in and not wanting either of those games and instead picking any game off the wall you want free and a free second controller?

How do you think consumers like that?

Okay Obliterator i have one for you .
How much SE SW PS4 did you think Sony made ?
Cause i not seeing them making anything less than 500k of them if destiny is anything to go by .

That's been done before though, not really impressive if you ask me.

Don't forget about the CoD and SW Standard SKU that will replace UC Bundle as main.

Refresh rates on SW bundle this year are pretty much open. Sony is making as many as retailers are willing to sell.

COD refresh was limited.

Fallout bundle was limited

Halo bundle was limited.

Xbox Holiday 1TB and Gears refresh is same situation as Battlefront in terms of refresh rates.

That's what I think.

I highly doubt the gift cards will turn the tide in XB1's favor. It's not like last year where the XB1 was cheaper by $70 and still offered better deals at that price. With both NDC and GOW bundles at $299, but the latter with gift cards, I dare say the NDC bundle will even edge out, simply due to the fact that this is the PS4's first official price drop. Unless Microsoft pulls out some truly insane deals for BF at the last minute, I don't see the XB1 winning.

And quoting Somnia doesn't really prove your point. That's just one store.

Where is this deal on Black Friday? When he is talking gift cards, he's talking about black friday deals...There are no Black Friday deals so far like you are mentioning, those were this past week

I think parents buying for their kids are going to go for a bundle with a big name,

I think parents who've been tasked with a very specific present buying list will go for bundle+games.

Generally the core gaming market has already moved into next-gen, so that kind of discerning buyer is less important than the general consumer IMO

I am talking about the limited edition SW PS4 it is limited just like the COD , Destiny and TTK .

You'd be amazed how many XB1s we sold last weekend when this deal was in effect.

You already told us I think.

So I use to run gamestop locations for 5 years a long time ago, been out of retail for quite awhile. Decided to pick up some hours this holiday by helping an old friend out at his store.

Xbox Ones fucking went off this weekend in my town (there's 3 stores). I know at the store I help out we sold all 12 of our elite bundles, all 10 of our holiday bundles and when I left we had 5 gears of war bundles left and started with I believe 15 (could be wrong).

We also sold 10 PS4 COD systems, no idea on uncharted ones.

Was a crazy weekend period for everyone.

I didn't want to say anything, but you are working there and you can remember exactly how many Xbox One's (different SKUs too) you sold and even how many you had left, but you have no idea how the Uncharted PS4 bundles sold.

I agree 500k is a good estimate.

If you only look for one side you will see only one side ;)

I don't know because I didn't look at the numbers before or after because there was no deal going on for it. I know the COD amount because it was the entire stock we had.

However there was a crazy deal for Xbox so I saw how many we had when I got in and when I left.

Nice try.
