October 2015 NPD (U.S. Hardware) Predictions - Closes November 10th

I almost get the feeling you're doing this for attention. :p Now the whole thread is replying to you. Must be amazing seeing so much greenery.

Nah, I'm actually trying to help ya'll out. That's really all.

Cause I like Sales GAF. They are good people.

PS4 may win. They may even win big. Saying that its a given that they have a blowout on November is a big big error. Let's wait this month out some more before assuming.

Fair enough, but at least, try bringing some other good points besides gift cards. We know it won't help much on BF when the Battlefront bundles will likely be flying off shelves. And "win big" is a subjective term. Right now, I think we'll see a 200K gap in favor of the PS4.

Last year's value perception battle was insane.

More than half of November was 399 vanilla PS4 (with no bundled games) vs 349 XB1 with 2 games... and depending where you looked, one additional game or gift cards.

Last year was absolutely insane.
Actually, the XB1 was even $329 for a while. Yep, truly insane. This year's deals are not nearly as good. The point I'm trying to make is that the XB1 had a massive price advantage last year but this year, gift cards won't do much at all.

Welp, listen to my pov or don't. That's up to you guys. Ignore me if you want.

Or listen. It may help. Maybe.

I didn't.

I said the combination of Fallout and Black Ops will move more hardware. Battlefront is nowhere near those games combined. In fact its not even as big as Black Ops by itself.
I do think Battlefront bundles will move more hardware than CoD and Fallout bundles combined.

Software is another story.

Lowest price for Xbone based on value was $279 at Target IIRC - $329-$50GC.

That's a discount of $120 on PS4 msrp! No surprise it won big last year,

We are talking about moving hardware yeah BF might not be as big as COD or Fallout sales wise .
But it has a LE .
Destiny LE sold over 300k if i remember right and that was a new IP .
This is SW we are talking about .

It's going to be a madhouse.

Those fucking Darth Vader PS4s... fuck my life.

On this I agree 100%.

Neither console will win big in November or even December.

Which is really the key, but people are jumping on me because the consensus here for a while is Sony will win big in November. I actually never even said it WON'T

I said assuming they will dominate the month, especially this early, isn't the greatest call. Wait it out, we will have more indicators as the month goes on.

Hey SW is going to be huge. I'm not doubting that. Not going into units. At all.

Reviews will be a big deal on how the bundles leg out over the month. If it scores high, yeah the hardware push may be really large, maybe more than I'm thinking (which is already pretty damn big)

Well, I wasn't including gift cards. Either way, this proves my point even further. The XB1 won by a landslide last year because it had truly insane deals. This year its deals are not much better than the PS4's, I'd say.

I don't think reviews going to matter that much IMO .
Take Destiny or COD for eg .
Over 9 million people play the beta i think people know what they in for .

This is crucial for December. If the game reviews are not great it will still sell a lot, but if it actually reviews well then yea it might be massive.

Ya people need to realize when retail employees give their information in here its very much anecdotal. We have 3 stores in town and they have very much different clientele.

Shit will be different for every retail employee who says whats happening at their store. I'm only there 1-2 nights a week so it could be way different other days than when I'm there.

You are already seeing it. The Xbox bundles come with giftcards. The PS4's do not. Its way of attracting a cheaper price point without cutting price further.

MS battles tooth and nail in the Holidays.

Anyone assuming a huge PS4 victory already is making a grave error. (Though not saying it CAN'T happen)

I don't see a gift card changing what it now the de facto console this generation. But you seem pretty sure.

I don't know why a few gift cards and extra accessories are even being compared to what MS did last holiday. It's not even remotely close.

That's what I was saying earlier. They fire-saled last year and it payed off in numbers, if not in $$. This year it's fairly evened up as far as the majority of deals, so to me I cannot see how they will make up the other 9 months gap as they did before.

Correct. Sony's more prepared going into this holiday than last where they basically did nothing. Both consoles will be $299 on BF and I'm sure there will be other deals like GC for PS4 too. Then you have the 4 major bundles releasing this month. So unless there's a surprise price cut from MS, or some other crazy deal similar to last year, I don't see why the predicted outcome should be tempered.

That's what I'm keeping my eyes open for. Because at this point I don't see it as being a serious sales competition. Nov/Dec aren't interesting at all to my eyes.

Mods just need to keep cboat out of the thread.

Haven't you seen the aggregate? It's a perfect month for cboat!
7-10

I know the amazon hourly's are representative of ANYTHING. BUT the Battlefront game and SW PS4 bundles are start the climb into the top 20. Not to mention the COD bundle and UCC bundle is still doing very well.

It's going to be fun to see amazon update for the month and where everything lands.

EA Early Access pulling in those PS4 sales already.

I gotta agree with Obliterator. I don't think November is quite a lock for the PS4 yet, not until BF is over.

While the value for the XB1 was significantly higher in comparison last year, I don't think it's smart to rule out $299 XB1 plus gift card plus free game (is this the bundle most have?) versus the $299 UC bundle.

Plus, we haven't even gotten October numbers yet. I don't want to tout the price parity without first seeing the boost it provided.

I woundn't be surprised to see the oposite of the previous year

Is kinda funny like so many guys months ago thought XB1 was gonna close the gap with PS4 this holidays...
I mean, really? I can understand Halo 5 has sold less than what many people expected, but PS4 > XB1 this holidays was pretty expect since E3.

But hey, if you win ONE holidays, this mean you will win all holidays of this generation.
